The "open with..." Winexplorer context menu contain meanwhile a lot of useless stuff.I remember a tool for WinXP (only) which let the user remove some of these entries. How can I do this inside Windows 7?
I'm tweaking Flight Simulator 2004, and I have an add-on program that has thoroughly uninstalled, but it's entry still remains on the remove/change program page. How can I get rid of it for good?
How do I remove toolbar menu entries from the taskbar menu? I am talking about the menu you get when you right click on the taskbar. I have two entries under TOOLBARS that I would like to remove. I don't mean uncheck the box to turn it off I mean remove it from the list of toolbars. I added a toolbar and now I wnat to remove it.
I installed a program called Folder Size which I am mostly happy with: Folder Size - Freeware. Check the directory sizes and folder sizes on your computer with this freeware tree size analysis tool. However, it added an entry to my right click context menu everywhere which is bothering me. I can find no option in the software to remove it.
I have Windows 7 OEM version. Recently my friend installed Ubuntu to work on it. After some time I removed Ubuntu through Add Remove programs but whenever I start my computer at the time of booting, it asks me to choose out of 3 entries :-- Windows 7, Ubuntu, Ubuntu.
Now, I wish to remove these 2 Ubuntu entries and I understand I have to remove some multi disk partition entries for Ubuntu, in bootmgr.dll... right??
How can I remove these two Ubuntu entries??
PS: This is for the moderators--I hope this doesn't come under "black-listed issues". According to my understanding, a simple meddling with bootmgr.dll such as the above doesn't qualify to come under "hacking"..or any other black list issues...
I recently installed a crap copy of Adobe CS5 that I was told was good, and would like to install a new one but have been told that I might want to delete any traces of the old copy before proceeding, this includes deleting any entries that have been made in the registry.
When booting system sometimes I hit F9 to select boot device, when I want to boot from dvd or usb. Before you say I can list boot devices in bios I know this, the problem Is UEFI and Legacy my UEFI system is not secure boot and for whatever reason I have to F9 and manually select usb or dvd legacy, some versions of linux will not boot otherwise.
UEFI boot sources:
Windows boot manager Linux Mint Linux mint
[Code]....
Over the course of the last year I have dual booted several version of linux, but it seems that linux mint and ubuntu add entries to my UEFI boot sources list...how do I remove them, the list is getting to long, and currently only windows 7 is installed.
Hp Pavillion Slimline s5-1114 Bios version 7.16 Ps other than this annoying list the system boots fine right into windows.
Let me see if I can explain this. Since installing a registry editor called "Context Menu Take Ownership" a couple of days ago, I have had problems saving files to my desktop and accessing files located on my When I choose to save a file .. save as>desktop, It takes a full two minutes for my desktop to load in my "save as" dialog box. I can't change to say "documents" until the desktop has fully loaded into the "save as" dialog box.I then downloaded the remove "Take Ownership" reg editor at the same website above. Ran it and sure enough, there is no more option to "take ownership" of a file/directory when I right click.
However, I still have the same problem saving to or accessing a file located on the desktop, from a program (any program, on my computer, or on a website such as a "upload images") using the "save as" or trying to access the desktop to retrieve a file. This makes me think there are some registry entries that need to be deleted. I don't know what though.I should also point out, I did a system restore and system restore could not complete because of a registry issue.Couple screen pics attached. One showing a blank "save as" dialog box with desktop selected. The other is the desktop fully loaded after about 2 minutes.I originally installed take ownership because I could not get "read only" changed on a directory. It didn't even fix that. Rebooting did though.
I have installed revo uninstaller which I have used with no probs till now. I decided to use autorun to see start up programmes instead of using the usual msconfig. This is the process I followed.Revo uninstallerautorunI unticked all boxes except my security programmes as this is a new laptop and all programmes were set to run at start up.Closed down laptopestarted laptopOpened startup (the idea was to start up a few at a time to see which I really needed)only 3 boxes were there (security which I left ticked)I have reset to default in startupstill only 3 boxes were showing still tickedI have since had an update from itunes and this is now showing as a 4th programme in startupother than these 4 boxes the list of startup programmes have not shown themselves.
My Wacom Intuos tablet needs a new driver but after removing the old one my Windows 7 Pro 64bit registry still has this old driver mentioned in many lines of all the CurrentControlSet, ControlSet001 and ControlSet002.I am the Administrator and in CurrentControlSet have changed the Administrator permissions to Full and the owner to Administrator for all of the following[CODE]I have read all that I could find about changing inherited and non inherited permissions and ownership but I'm no further forward.
When I right-click on certain things (in this case, all types of files), some of the entries in the right-click menu are shorter than the others, and stick out of place. One of them is my Bluetooth "Send to Bluetooth Device" entry, which looks to be about 4 pixels shorter, and really does stick out like a sore thumb.
I got a problem with double entries which I found out while selecting a new background. I want to learn how I can remove double entries in picture location list.
Also an error message appears when I select either
In addition to double entries on picture background list, I have one more problem with undeletable files in recycle bin. I don't know where they come from but I get a warning message whenever I want to clear them
I have a Brother HL-2270W Wireless All-In-On laser printer which also does duplex printing. I'd like to be able to have two entries in my Devices and Printers list that point to this same printer. One would be setup to default to Duplex printing. This would make it a lot simpler than having to select this each time I print something. Setting it for Duplex as the default causes every page, even if it only is a single page, to go through the duplex process which slows down non-duplex printing a lot.
Boot is very slow (> 4 minutes) so trying 'autorun.exe' to check out 'entries' that may be causing slowdown.(msconfig has been used to reduce grossly unwanted items from starting.)
Under the Scheduled Tasks tab there are many 'entries' that have no Description or Publisher and in the Image Path field has 'File not found'.
Running Powerterm terminal emulator to telnet to Linux server. Under Windows 7, after 17 control-z.control-c/control-] entries, Powerterm crashes. This does not happen under Windows XP. Always after 17 entries but not necessarily consecutive.
I imported my RSS/Feed list in IE8. I have over 200 entries in my Common Feed List and I want to start over with just a select few. So first I want to delete all entries. My question is this. Is there a way to delete everything in the common feed list at once?
So my computer randomly freezes up and when I boot up there are no log entries of the event. There are however always 3 log entries but I don't believe they are related to the actual problem. The 3 that are always there are: 6008, 7026 and 41. Now when I say it freezes I mean it literally freezes up. I do not get any blue screen or black screen or any errors it literally freezes as if I took a screenshot of my desktop and was looking at it. I can not use my mouse or keyboard I can not hear anyone in a skype call or anything it is FROZEN. The only way I am able to reboot it is by holding the power button which thus gives me the error code 41 above.
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit and all my software is installed and working well except for one. Following a problem with the initial install attempt, I'm trying to re-install LotusSuite 9.8.2 but the previous attempt seems to have resulted in some "Lotus" registry entries that now direct things to a non-existent "F" drive. When I try to re-install from the CD, it doesn't allow me the option of choosing the destination location. Instead, it automatically tries to install in this non-existent drive. I've opened RegEdit and searched and found many references to Lotus and to F:Lotus.
How can I edit the registry to get rid of the F:Lotus entries or change them to C: ? Or just get rid of all references to Lotus? BTW, this software works perfectly on my Win 7 laptop.
My CD/DVD-Rom drive is unresponsive (it opens and closes normally) and does not show up on Device Manager.I read a guide that suggested that I have corrupted registry entries. It told me to delete UpperFilters and LowerFilters.I deleted the two entries (and possibly others in the same location).
Good news: I backed up my registry Bad news: I backed up my ENTIRE registry (oops)
So far, everything appears to be the same... Except when I open iTunes I get an notice that says the registry settings needed to burn and import CDs are missing.I've been told that I can import the entire .reg backup and "hope that all goes well". It sounds rather sketchy and I am seeking better help.I've also been told that a wire could have come loose but I want to fix this registry problem before opening up my PC. I hope it doesn't come off as leaching by coming here solely for making a help thread.
I am trying to delete anything regarding my recent medical history from my desktop so I can give it to someone without having to do a fresh install. I do a universal search from Windows Start and looking for the name of my doctor "Smith". I deleted all documents, but the search results are still showing up-when I click to open folder to delete it the folder is no longer in existence. I am not sure what else to do in order to permanently erase any semblance of these files from that function.
There are endless queries on the Internet about how to set the default email client to something other than Outlook or Windows Live. Got me to thinking there must be some app or instruction on how to manually place an entry in the Windows 7 Set Default Programs utility, since software developers can do it for apps like Skype, WinRar, PotPlayer, etc. If anybody has run across such a tool, let the community here know
Asus has some way of starting their programs that I can't find. In particular, I want to disable their Wireless Console 3 (wcourier.exe). There are other programs but I can't remember what they are right now. I can only tell you that is does not show up in msconfig or HJT. Where I can find these startup entries?
I have a set of CDs that provide audio and video samples for a text book.I've copies the CDs to a hard drive but the text refers to the samples by track number and there are no more "tracks" as such. Does the standard Windows copy build the directory entries in the same order as the tracks in the original CD? If so, is there a media player that will show the directory entries in their physical order (and hopefully count them for me) rather than first performing the standard directory sorts first? I have the Windows Media Player and VLC.I don't see how to use either of them the way I need (although the WMP will at least let me access the CDs by track number).
I am using Windows Media Player 12 and I would like to remove duplicate song entries from my Music Library without deleting files from a networked computer. My challenge is that I have added multiple networked folder locations to my Media Library, and on some of those network drives the same Albums exists.[CODE]Is there a way of telling Media Player to only put one copy of each individual song into the Media Library regardless of how many copies of the song actually exist in the Libraries folder locations?
1. "System reserve" which contains e.g.the Bootmamanger and MBR 2. First Win 7 installation ("main") 3. Second Win 7 installation ("reserve")
When I boot now at first the Bootmanager on the first primary partition is called/started which in turn starts the boot menu. In the boot menu there are currently two entries:
Windows 7 Windows 7
So I cannot distinguish between the "main" and the "reserve" Win 7 installation. How exactly can I modify/rename the two "Windows 7" entries in boot menu? After selecting and booting the actual Windows 7 installation the other Windows 7 installation is visible as a separate partition in WinExplorer:
C: Running Windows 7 D: DVD drive E: Other (non-booted) Windows 7
How can I automatically hide the other Windows 7 installation? The drive E: should be available e.g. for USB sticks or network drives.
I bought a Sony Vaio VPCZ227GG almost 2 months back and its been running perfectly until the last week. There have been no hardware updates, system installs etc. only the recommended Sony Vaio Care driver updates.I will be using the laptop for a while and then it will just crash. The laptop stays on the screen it was on before the crash but the mouse, keyboard, basically everything is dead. The only way to cycle it is to power down.

I would like to set the default folder view to be set to details, and control panel view set to small icons. I would like this set for the default user profile. What the relevant registry entries are ?
Trying to disable some of the bloatware that came with my HP G62, as well as disable unneeded auto-updates, and have been blocked from doing so.Ran msconfig, startup entries... Unchecked, hit "apply" and they just become checked again. (Ran as administrator on admin account)Tried "Tuneup Utilities." Same effect.Have been trying to disable Yahoo Messenger from starting and it just keeps on starting.I have unchecked the startup box in the pref dialog of the prog.Is my admin account not really admin? (No other accounts on the computer)
