View 0 RepliesI've only used VMs for testing known apps, development work and testing OSes.How safe are they from infecting the host with a virus? Normally I use a seperate computer or i switch harddrives and boot up to another drive, so there is no chance for a virus.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having some BSOD probs, so I'm currently updating all of my drivers. The only one I can't find an update for is called PCI Standard Host CPU Bridge. Could you point me in the right direction, so I can get the update?
Also, for some reason, PCI Standard Host CPU Bridge is listed twice in Device Manager... and both entries seem identical. Would this mean I have to update both?
Some spec info:
Dell Inspiron 1764 Laptop
64 Bit Windows 7 Home Premium (SP1)
Intel Core i5 2.27 GHz
Motherboard: Dell 0TKV96
4 GB RAM
I've just recently upgraded my pc but i'm having issues trying to install and setup the drivers for the usb3.0 ports and updating the firmware.
I'm running on Windows 7 x64
My motherboard is the
P8P67 PRO Rev. 3.0 - New P67 B3 Revision
I have tried the drivers and firmware from here without any success. RENESAS/NEC Drivers & Firmwares Perhaps I am installing the wrong drivers? No clue.. i'm not the best with computers so that's why I cam here.
Also in the end my goal will be to run and use this product which needs to be ran from USB 3.0
The product is the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle Blackmagic Design: Products Blackmagic Design: Support Detail
Here's a good video tutorial to setup the drivers but mine doesnt allow me to open the host controller.. it just says Host Controller not found..
I config my host file to go facebook (my country prevent me to go there ) and It work probably to one day... I cannot go to facebook, and I checked my host file again. It's still no change from that time, but there is a small thing: host file now has a key icon at left-bottom. (That I'm sure it doesn't appear before).
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, my usb 3.0 host controller seems to have stopped working. I have tried enabling/disabling controller from BIOS, reinstalling drivers, finding different drivers, and reinstalling my mobo CD, but to no avail. (Yes, i already tried searching). It does not show up in windows device manager at all, but when i plug my mouse into the ports, the LEDs light up, but the system does not detect it (nothing happens, no chime or anything).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a VPN on my Desktop computer (HOST) so that I can connect to it from my school with my laptop (CLIENT). At one point it was working, but now every time I try to connect I get "Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection."I know the issue is NOT my laptop, because I can connect to another VPN that I currently have running in place of the one at home (One obvious reason I'd like the home VPN is that my current one is in Sweden...)I also have little reason to believe that my network settings are wrong, because I have the Host computer set as DMZ on my Linksys WRT160N Router and have forwarded the PPTP Port to it as well (Just in case.)I've gone as far as reformatting my Desktop computer and doing NOTHING but installing Network Adapter drivers and an antivirus, and then setting up the VPN and it STILL doesn't work...
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do i found out what my Server Host Name is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when connecting to a router the host name of my computer is published, along with the mac address.
I am not getting in to mac spoofing here; that is not my intention. I simply generally do not like displaying more information than I must.
When dealing with public access routers (often that have no security and also default admin passwords) I would rather not display such information.
Using ubuntu, it was simple enough to not publish my host name (the mac address is of course still logged).
I need something that can host a VPN server on Windows 7. Not LogMeIn Hamachi or the one hidden in Windows' network connections, neither of those work. I'm looking for a free program.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have done as you instructed. The WinXP VPC I set up can see the internet but for some reason it does not see the host Windows 7 machine. When I ping the host from the VPC I get no response. I can ping the VPC from the host machine. I intend to run the ArcInfo license of ArcGIS Desktop on the VPC. That license requires communication with a license server. The license server is running on my host machine. If I can't ping the host then I won't be able to use the license server.
I have done this on another machine with WinXP as both the host machine and the VPC and the VPC can see the host via ping.
I've turned off all the firewalls but no joy.
I have been experiencing trouble accessing URLs via any browsers, however, I *can* access web sites directly via IP. A more complete list of fix attempts and diagnostic clues will follow.I have found a temporary fix for my problem - namely, when I uninstall my NIC drivers, reboot, and allow Windows 7 to reinstall them, host name resolution seems to work, and browsing, software updates, and so on function normally. If I restart without first uninstalling my NIC driver, host name resolution fails again during the new session.Relevant Computer specifications: Windows 7 Sp1, Comodo firewall, Avira AV, Gigabyte GA-MA790x-UD4P mobo, Phenom II 940

I've tried installing the 64-bit driver on the 32-bit Vista machine. I've also tried installing the 32-bit driver on the Win7 laptop. In both cases, Windows and the HP website give me the runaround and insure me that all necessary drivers will auto-install via Plug-n-Pray. But this is not the case. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and Windows 7 64 bit on the desktop, both Home Premium. Every time I go online with the desktop it starts a download according to NetLimiter. The download appears as Host process for Windows services and it expands to process 720 and then to 92.122.126.243:80. I use 3G mobile broadband for my net access and this download could use a considerable amount of my Gb allowance. Using NetLimiter I can kill the download but I would like to know what is happening and do I need the download? Some idea of the d/l size would be handy as well. None of this happens when I log on using the laptop.

I have three virtual OS (windows 2003)installed on my server (window 2008), I can ping it from within the network but I cannot reach it from outside the network. However, I can reach the host and any other physical pc from outside the network.
