i have an acer 5250 less than 2 weeks old i turned it on it says no bootable device problem started with a blue screen error message then the no bootable device tried to restore from internal & disks but it says error 0xa0000000 i want to know if i attempt to reinstall windows 7 will it repair or do i need to send back to company to be fixed.

My HP Pavilion DV7 4267CL's hard drive went out last week. I bought a new one, the same brand name and specifications. I installed the drive, turned it on, inserted the first disc, restarted it and follow the prompts. I selected to reset factory default and continue to follow the on screen prompts. After installing all four discs, it restarted by itself and gave me an HP logo. It ask me to restart to complete installation. When it restarted again, it gave me a bootmgr is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart. I pressed it and it gave me the same error again. I did all the reinstallation 3x but no luck. I was getting the same error. So, I went to the bio boot utility by restarting the pc and preesing F10 while booting. I rearrange the booting sequence, dvd/cd rom drive, internal computer hard drive restarted it, inserted the first disc, turned off pc and reinstalled it and all 3 other discs. But at the end, I'm still getting the same error.

unable to access one of my hard drives. I went to disc manager and it showed the file system being RAW. I used autoruns and disabled autocheck and restarted my computer. Now when I go back into disc manager, it shows it as being Unknown and Not Initialized. I tried to iniatialze it and the error "The semaphore timeout period has expired."

I've backed up my personal files, and now I'm trying to figure out if it can be repaired or if I'm going to have to buy a new hard drive. I tried to run the Toshiba hard drive diagnostic, but the tool isn't allowing me to select my drive and can't run without being able to do that, even though it is my only hard drive. View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is kinda long and I've fixed it, but could use your input. So after waking up, my parents informed me that the computer was shutting down randomly. I turned it on and "a disk error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart " appeared. It's a Sata hard drive so I checked the cables to make sure they were plugged in correctly and they were, and then I tried connecting it to another computer with that computers cables and that didn't work either. My parents not wanting to buy one online, decided to just go to bestbuy and buy one there, since we already had the Windows 7 Disk at home. I formatted it, partitioned it, and installed Windows 7 Home Premium on it and everything worked. I decided to connect the Hard drive that didn't work while the computer was still on, and it immediately started downloading the drivers it needed and up popped all the hard drive. I'm going to start transferring all the important things like music,videos and games, and after, all I can see are the following 3 things; after getting all the data we want off it, should I reinstall windows to see if my other computer will recognize it (Even though it couldn't before), format it and just use it as extra data (though since it already couldn't boot up, the ability to keep data on it may fail in a couple of days/weeks) or just put it away and not use it at all.

I first tried to install the setup.exe (Custom install option of course) from within the XP OS, but soon discovered you cannot do that and wipe out my only partition on C: at the same time.
I don't have a DVD-RW drive to write a boot disk, so instead I am trying to install through my external hard drive. I meticulously followed this tutorial from PC World yet when I instruct the PC in BIOS to boot from the external hard drive, I keep getting an "invalid system disk, press any key" error when the computer boots and looks for the setup files. This is despite the fact that setup seems to work perfectly from within the XP OS.

Can anyone please offer me any helpful advice to get the external hard drive setup to work or help me find a way to install 7 from within XP?
Anyone know exactly why I keep getting the "invalid disk" error each time when I try to boot from my external hard drive? As mentioned in the PC World tutorial, I marked the external hard drive as an active partition and the setup files seem to work fine from within XP. If it helps, in the external hard drive root folder is both the Windows 7 ISO and all the files contained (which I extracted using PowerISO).
This morning while i was watching a movie from my Toshiba 500GB external hard drive, there was a windows update going. Because of the lagging due to the update and all, I restarted it after the update is done while my ext. HD is still connected to the computer.
After restarting, somehow I can't seem to access my ext. HD even though the HD is detected. The HD somehow became a "Local Disk K:" and everytime i try clicking it a pop-up telling me that "K is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect".
I googled the problem and found one solution that told me to run a CHKDSK on the command prompt. I ran a "chkdsk /r K:" but then got stuck on the "stage 3 of 5" where the chkdsk is verifying Usn journal. This has been going on for 5 hours and the cursors still blinking.
I can access my HD again? Does the verifying Usn journal really do take this long?
I recently recovered my data from a biohd-8 error. Can someone please tell me which files can I copy back to a hard drive in order for my system to start again and make it useable again. I do not know if any of the files were damaged in the recovery process.
1) If I am able to restart my system by copying these files, will I need to re-activate Windows 7 again?
2) Would I copy the files to the root of the hard drive?
3) I also have the system restore disks that I made a while back, can I use these to install the files into a new hard drive and will windows 7 work?
I just got a new laptop DELL Inspiron 15R N5110 (i3 processor, 3GB ram, 500 GB hard disk) 2 days back. Suddenly the system started lagging and it hanged last day. When I tried 2 restart, it said there is an error in loading d hard disk. It asked me 2 boot several times. The laptop now have started making clicking noises. Its now even getting heated up also. I ain't able to restart it now. I've my documents saved on d laptop in a separate drive. (I had partitioned d drive as C and D where D is for my personal data). I m very much concerened about the data which is present in d laptop now. Will I be able 2 retrieve it back??? How should I repair it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I was browsing on my computer and heard a weird clicking noise when the CD drive was running. About a few minutes after that, Firefox froze so I did a hard reboot, and up comes this message:
"No boot sector on internal hard drive No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics."
I have no idea what it means, and I've been everywhere trying to do System Restore using the Windows 7 reinstallation disk, but unfortunately I couldn't create a restore point because my jump drive doesn't have enough space and Startup Repair couldn't solve my problem. I've even tried the bootrec.exe on Command Prompt but I had no idea what to do. This is the first time that this has happened to me. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1545 and I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I'm on a tight limb about this problem right now because my warranty expired in early June this year, and I don't have the money for them to look at it, let alone buy a brand-new hard drive.
I decided to replace my hard drive because it seemed to have viruses that were making it run incredibly slow. I put in a brand new hard drive and proceded to run the Windows 7 Ultimate disk. View 2 Replies View RelatedI had two hdd's in my computer and decided to remove one as I did not really need it and figured it save some power, after removing secondary hard drive which was just being used as storage i received the " MBR Error 1" after about 2 hours researching, I found I could repair it from windows cd, only problem is I only have a live usb version of it and when I try to launch system recovery the operating system is not listed and I have to load drivers for the hard disk. I really do not want to wipe and reinstall windows as its only been 2 weeks since i built the system and also I have a game which is 25gb digital download installed on it but it deletes the installation files after installing it and reinstalling would mean re-installing.
I guess I have 2 questions:
1. Is there anyway to copy a liveusb onto a disk ? for example, make an iso of a usb drive and burn it to dvd?
2. What drivers would I have to load on the windows startup recovery to get it to see the operating system

i was using win7 ultimate before and last day i tried to install a new win7 and in wich step that i had to choose a drive to install i sow this message "No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation." but in the windows that i was using all of the drives was working.and i installed win vista and no messages like this i sow.

I upgrade my pc with SSD everything seem to go fine but 2 of my 2TB drive giving me a Smart error now. i wonder if SSD has anything to do with Drives failing. My theory is that.
SSD runs on a flash based chip ... it is very stable but mean time it has huge access point of data that why it is fast. The reason i am thinking that SSD is killing my other drives is because my setup is a Media center. Software such as windows media center and media browser keep accessing my 2 TB Hitachi drive for movies, TV show and so on .. SSD in my opinion is running other drive to max point of spin and read/write in same time. which could caused these drive either over heat or over used that is just a theroy of mine

Error Message: Smart error bad backup and replace
Computer is a Sony Vaio VGC-RC110G (not sure about motherboard). About 3 weeks ago computer starts refusing to boot giving errors that make me think the hard drive is bad. Computer will still occasionally boot after 5-10 tries. I bought a new hard drive and tried to create an image of the old drive onto the new using Clonezilla, the process gave a few errors. The computer flatly refused to boot from the new drive (gave disk read errors). However, when I could boot using the old drive, I could get in and explore the image of the new drive and the image copy process seemed to have worked okay.
As part of the disk image copy process, my new drive had 2 partitions and about 900 megs of free space. The two partitions were the main windows partition from the old drive and the recovery partition. I combined all partitions and formatted the new drive (using Gparted) because I thought that the disk image copy probably just recreated errors in the old drive onto the new. After the format, my computer then consistently refused to boot from either drive. (in the past I could boot to the old drive after a couple of tries). The error was usually "a disk read error occurred' or "BOOTMGR is missing."
Attempts to install windows using windows install DVD failed because computer couldn't write to the new hard drive. Both hard drives would usually appear in bios when I entered into it (I know at least one time where neither appeared in the bios), although sometimes computer would fail allow me to edit bios altogether. I attached the new hard drive to a different computer and installed a clean version of windows 7 Ultimate x86 to the new drive. The different computer boots just fine from the new hard drive. But when I move the new hard drive to back to the old computer I consistently now get "a disk read error occurred" error.
I don't believe it is a SATA cable issue because power to drive seems to be fine and I had to use the SATA cable from the old computer when hooking the drive up to the different and it worked fine. Also, Gparted recognizes the drive just fine and has no problems formatting partitions etc., so there is communication happening through the SATA cable and the power cable is powering adequately.TL;DR summary: New hard drive works fine with new computer, but old computer (when connected to same new hard drive) gives me a "disk read error occurred." Based on the evidence, I don't think it's a faulty drive issue. I'm also skeptical that it's a cable issue, but haven't 100% ruled out this possibility. What should I do next in terms of identifying the problem? I've currently exhausted my (admittedly limited) hardware troubleshooting .expertise.
Recently I dropped my Acer Aspire 1420-2039 notebook damaging the hard drive.I ordered a new WD Blue WD2500BEVT.Unfortunately the week before I dropped my computer, I installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview.So I downloaded an .iso file of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, (What was originally installed on the computer when purchased) and downloaded the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to re-install the OS using a USB Flash Drive since my computer does not have an optical disk.hen I get to the install screen, Windows will not let me select the hard drive with error 0x80300001 "Windows is unable to install to the selected location."Usually other forums suggest selecting the proper drivers for the drive, however WD does not have drivers available for download saying it uses windows' default drivers

I have windows 7 and office on my laptop and I want it on my desktop pc. There isn't close to 64gb of info on my laptop so it should be fine even though the hard drive says I have 160gb. It is all free space except for those programs.

Couldn't access OS because apparently some RAID data is kept on the motherboard and that was gone, so I decided to use a backup. Booted from windows 7 installation disk and selected backup,
I click on 'repair', get to the 'select a system image backup'. Select 'use the latest available system image (recommended). Click 'next' I get the message 'all disk to be restored will be formatted and replaced with the layout and data in the system image'. Click Yes. But then got an error saying:
"The system image restore failed. The disk that is set as active in BIOS is too small to recover the original system disk. Replace the disk with a larger one and retry the restore operation. (0x80042407)"
Disk is completely empty with only 1 partition (deleted all partitions and reformatted and then created one). Before motherboard problem I had several partitions, but I imagine that restore would recreate them. Why do I get 'disk to small error' when I am restoring on the same disk? RAID configuration problem? Could stripe size be an issue here?

I was trying to make a bootable USB flash drive for windows 7 from Windows 7 Home Premium Reinstall disk that came with my Dell laptop, using the WinToFlash utility. But in starting the process, the PC froze, all applications (even explorer.exe) stopped, and Alt+Ctrl+Del refused to work. I turned the laptop off and back on, where it refused to even show the OS list and showed a DRMK message instead with a command prompt C:> as:

I tried booting from Windows 7 reinstall DVD but none of the repair options worked. I tried reinstall and repair options but my Hard Drive did not show up. It rather asked to Load Drivers for the Hard Disk. However, it did show any of the USB drives I connected to it, along with an X: drive, which must be the recovery drive for Dell's factory restore. I tried looking for Hard Disk drivers in that but no luck.
Then I downloaded from another PC a USB utility for Seagate Hard Drives from Dell website that makes a bootable USB. I ran that utility and it showed all the test passed (But there was no firmware update during the tests). Another thing I tried was using list disk command on command prompt in Windows Repair, but It did not show any drives, not even the X: drive. It only showed the USB drives I attached to it, or the DVD drive in list volume command.
I cannot boot to windows, I cannot install new windows, I cannot repair the windows and I cannot even factory restore my laptop. The hard drive shows up in BIOS, but not in Windows Boot or Windows Installation. Is there any way I can get my Hard Disk back without losing data? I have two partitions of that drive. I don't care about formatting C: Drive (Windows) but I wanna preserve E: Drive (the one filled with personal data but no programs).
I am getting a beeping sound noise from the top right corner of my vaio laptop. The problem seems to be one my hardware drivers, to make matters worse i cant even back up i just get the error code in the title! I have checked my "system reserved space" which is at 100mb so i have enough memory to back it up. I also had drivers problems with my laptop when trying to establish wifi connection after moving house, "missing driver" i now use a cable.

Then tried plugging this drive using a USB connector into my desktop PC to see if I could run some chkdsk. Then my desktop PC displayed messages telling me my firewall and virus software had been turned off and the computer crashed. ROOTKIT? So I was left with 2 drives not working. I re installed windows on desktop but using ISO on flash drive BUT can't on the 500GB Hitachi HTS545050B9SA00 for some reason. Windows setup loaded and Deleted old partitions and formatted. When I tried to install, it froze. It now just boots up with a windows loading screen and I'm also unable to boot from flash drive as it freezes. This is on a Sony Vaio VPCEB4E4E.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, I have a i7 2600K system with a solid state disk as the boot drive, and an older (c2008) Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB drive as the data drive for programs (that I deem as not worthy of the quick load times). The hard drive has given me some errors over time, and I bought a hard disk to replace it (a Hitachi 1TB). The issue I'm having is that the fact that Windows 7 puts a small (100MB) partition on the F3, and for some reason, even though I'm running Acronis 2012, it doesn't seem to be able to clone the F3 over to the Hitachi. I've also tried Drive XML, and for my 2 hour wait, I only managed to acquire a boot error. Thankfully, I've not done anything rash to destroy the data on the F3, but given the fact that I've seen corrupted files in Steam from that drive, I'm not will to trust it long term with my data. I really need to get the data onto that Hitachi, though... Anyone have any advice for upgrading the HDD in a SSD/HDD system? I don't really feel like it should be so hard, especially if I've bought Acronis True Image, but maybe they haven't designed their product to handle this scenario quite yet?

Turning my computer PC on today, all I got was a blue HP invent screen with setup, boot menu, system recovery, and system diagnosis, and I could not get past it. I entered the BIOS and figured out that the hard drive was listed as "not installed." Pretty sure that is the main problem.I tried a system restore (with the Windows 7 install disc), but I guess the computer couldn't read the hard drive enough to enter safe mode (I tried restarting and F8ing several times). I put in an external hard drive, and the BIOS read it; however, windows does not allow you to partition an OS on a hard drive.

It's a Samsung 1TB drive. I also have a 64 Solid-state drive in there as my primary hard drive that Windows was installed on and a couple of programs are installed on. My storage disk (the 1TB disk) is for all my music/films etc. Whenever I drag and drop a file into the Samsung hard-drive - it copies it rather than moves it instantly.When I had a laptop, I had 3 external hard drives and this is the way it copied files onto them.how I can get the internal drive to stop acting like an external drive?
