My current problem is that it occasionally gives off a clicking noise, I am assuming that the problem is the HDD because there is nothing else that's moving in the computer (besdies the BD-ROM, but it doesn't count). I look onto the event viewer and every time this happens it shows an error in the log files. [code]
View 5 RepliesMy Windows 7 configuration is relatively bullet proof (ha ha, nervous laughter).My OS and programs are on C, which I image using RDriveImage every month after Patch Tuesday.My data is on software-mirrored D/F drives.So as long as I don't have a catastrophic event affecting my computer, a routine "drive failure" should be recoverable, with the worst-case being I'd be out a month of updates, but with a good recent image of the OS drive.Anyway, I was recently looking at my event viewer and I have "Disk errors" that occur whenever I run a full image of C.

There were two errors in February (none before that), three in March, four each in May and July.In April and June I did incremental images, so the "bad" area wasn't imaged, so no error.With all the above as background, what's the safest way for me to isolate and/or repair the area(s) of the disk with the errors?The errors are always logged within 1-2 seconds of each other, so I suspect it's just one bad area.And I have never, ever, seen signs of a disk error. No BSOD, no clicking noises, no impaired performance, even for a moment.
i've just installed a fresh OS, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and i have a error message when i reboot or turn off my PC. The error appears then disappears so quick i can't read it. Then in Event Viewer i have couple of Error ID 10, and i think that's the error message i get on rebooting/shut down, my PC.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I enter the pin to connect to windows media center, that goes through fine, and it starts contacting on my Xbox and just as it's about to "configuring your extender" it cuts off and displays "Windows media center has encountered an error while trying to configure your computer with this extender". I checked event viewer and the error is as follows:-Media Center Extender Setup cannot create an account for the Extender with ID: uuid:10000000-0000-0000-0200-0025AE2444B5.Error: The system cannot find the file specified.
P.S Tried with all Xbox 360 port forwarding set to open for those relevant ports. Certificate deleted. Network services set up correctly. Firewall been turned off. No anti virus enabled. DMZ filtered on xbox both enabled and disabled, IP address are not clashing and im connected wirelessly on both PC and Xbox.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems connecting some devices (android apps) to my computer via my wi-fi. I am usually able to solve the problem by running network diagnostics, but after awhile, I'll start having network connectivity problems again.
Whenever I run diagnostics in these situations, this error is shown in Event Viewer:
"WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.
Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\athihvs."
I also receive the error (in event viewer) on a fairly regular basis:
"Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x2225D3CC6415. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server."
I have checked, and my router and WLAN card drivers are both up to date. I'm wondering if these errors are what is causing my app to lose connection?
It is win 7 with updates. I built it a little over a year ago. It restarts all by itself. The event viewer shows a kernel error and improper shutdown. It may restart once or maybe twice a day or not at all but It happens too often and started a while back. I have checked temp using Sisoft sandra but its not overheated. The only thing unusual to me was the power supply fan seems to kick in twice. Its done that since it was new. It still does it at times but not always. The Power supply is a Fatality 550 w. The amd processor is low watts and so is the video card. I don't like the idea of replacing stuff just to see if it works. I don't know if ram or memory error could cause something like this?

In the sound scheme settings, under Program Events ,regardless of sound scheme selected, the Sound events for Windows DO NOT play, but sound events for Windows Explorer, and every single other application, DO play. When I click Test, the sound always plays, but in practice, never does. This only happens with the sound events under the Windows category� everything else plays fine. I�ve tried changing the sounds around (using different sound files), and it�s not the sound files themselves, my sound drivers, or anything like that. I�ve tried checking the registry, and that seems to be set up correctly. I�ve tried creating a new user profile, and it has the same problem. If you redirect me to a thread about similar problems, chances are, I�ve already read it if it�s easily found by a Google search. Not everyone has had the same exact problem anyway (where it plays when I click Test and only the Windows events are affected). Please don�t tell me to re-format, re-install, or repair Windows.

It is configured to require the password upon re-opening it, but it is my understanding this can be by-passed. View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time Windows triggers an dialog alert (like windows asterisk, windows critical error ect.) I don't hear the event sound related to it. I looked over and over the settings in the config screen: looking for currupted settings in my windows sound scheme or currupted media files in the windows media dir. But it seems that everything is simply okay, all the settings are correct and the files work well (I can hear the sound when I click test in the sound config screen). It just looks like it that the sounds do not get triggered by the event. It just came out of the blue, everything worked fine and just the other day I did not hear dialog event sounds anymore. Things I have tried:
- Sfc /scannow to fix possible currupted media files (although I did not think this was the problem, since all the files work just fine). No effect.
- Reset the default sound scheme of windows of a few times, even tried some other sound shemes that come preinstalled with Windows 7. No effect.
- Tried to reinstall my sound drivers (no idea why I tried that because my sound works just fine). No effect.
- Made a new user account to see if the problem was account related. No effect.
In short: What is the possible cause/solution for windows events sounds not triggered/suppressed by the dialog event itself (all settings/sound files correct)?
it says that in order to clear events, go to the Action menu and click 'Clear'. I have already saved everything in an external file but in the Action menu there is no option to clear.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI vaguely understand what the Event Viewer is but I do not have the slightest clue as to what the "events" mean. First I open event viewer then I click Administrative Events and it says that 199 events were found. Most of them are warnings but quite a few are errors. The warning that constantly showing up the most is Gigabit Network Connection Network link is disconnected. Another Warning that has popped up 4 times in a row was Request to physical disk 0 has timed out. The most recent error said that the application specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM server application with the CLSID. What does this all mean and should I be worrying?! I am so unbelievably concerned and confused as this has been my first computer build and I know little on the subject

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a FUJITSU LIFEBOOK LH531 (Intel Core i7-2640M CPU @2.80GHz, 8 GB RAM running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64).Since 2 days the notebook has become too slow. The boot process is now taking 2-3 times longer. After boot, opening any program takes ages. Even when I click on START, the menu takes time to appear. I did not instal any new hardware or software when the problem started. Also I did varous virus/malware checks, nothing detected.But when I looked at the event log of my notebook - there were so many errors & warnings (see JPG attachment) - and this is affecting the performance.
