Have a 3 yr old HP Desktop. Seems to be working O.K. It's on about 20 hours/day. Have been receiving messages that Windows has detected a HD problem, I ran the HP Support Assistant and it comes back with the, Smart Threshold Test Failed. Error Code HD521-5W Will certainly do a lot of backups now, but can anyone tell me anything about what might be happening ? Again, PC seems to be working fine.

So anyway. Some time ago SP1 launched for Windows 7. I installed but it but something went it wrong and it didn't install correcly and then i was forced to use System restore. Everything worked and i haven't used SP1 because i don't want to risk screwing up my computer before some important things, i got plenty of time later for that . The problem is after the system restore every time Vegas launches i get a error : Sony Vegas pro 10 an error occurred starting Vegas Pro Error 0x80070002 (message missing).

I tried starting windows in safe mode, but windows update will not run then. I tried doing a clean boot by following the steps in the article but no success. I tried turning off the antivirus and firewall but that did not help either. Then the article runs out of ideas so here I am.

Normally, the BSOD occurs when there is a sudden interruption in the Internet connection (Internet connection is through a USB modem as a dial-up connection). View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night, i noticed i had low memory on my C drive. so I uninstalled a few programs - games mostly and needless addons - and then restarted. After restarting, the laptop got stuck at the bootup screen, at about 70%, then persisted to say "operating system not found" repeatedly.
This morning, after turning it on, it now gets past this screen, but says theres a "SMART failure predicted" on on my Hard drive. It also says ahard drive fail;ure is imminent. It does this for a few minutes, and then gets 'stuck' again at 70% at startup.
So.. is this a problem with my HDD? Everything points to this, but I'm not sure of my next step? Do i need to reinstall windows (problem, seeing as i don't have an installation disc)

Three days ago I lost connectivity on my shared home network that uses a Netgear WN2000RPTv2 wireless extender to connect to my Ruku which had worked perfectly to stream movies. (Amazon Prime). When I began to check out the systems for possible errors, I noticed that there had been updates for Netgear, several optional and one recommended. All failed with the error code of 80070103. So I'm trying to upgrade from the 6801 build (32-bit) to the 7100 build so both my laptops are on the same build.... 7100 is way more stable also..
Anyways I put in my Windows 7 7100 DVD, restart the comp... I hit a key to boot from CD, it tries to boot and comes up with a screen that says:
