does anybody know what Windows 7 Backup Failure with Errmsg 0x80070032 means? I've searched the internet and saw various Vista posts mentioning services which are not enabled (Task Scheduler..)
However, this does not apply to Windows 7. What does it mean?
I have been trying to back up all my important data onto an external hdd. The external hdd i am using is a WD 2tb. I am currently running Win 7 x64 with 2 x hdd wd 2tb set-up in raid 1 for hdd failure. I would like the external one as a backup weekly in case of file corruption. However when i go into setup, i get the following msg "The request is not supported" Error 0x80070032. I have read through a few threads on this forum with regards to task scheduler and event log they all seem to be set as required. There is also suggestion that win 7 may not be able to handle large hdd sector size, something about 4k versus 512.
i do a weekly scheduled backup it failed (code 0x81000019)this week. i freed up space try again fail. i check the event viewer and the only error even remotely related to VSS is "The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout."i re-tried multiple times (with my security software off and with it on) and checked and the VSS service was on and starting properlyi researched it on the net and ran "vssadmin list writers" (from an elveated command prompt of course)some of them listed time out error i reboot run it again and all have no error then try the backup and the same ones have time out errori'm currently running "sfc /scannow" because the research on the internet said that one of the causes could be corrupted driversmy backup drive is a usb HDD drive f:/ interesting event viewer logs for my backup drive"The shadow copies of volume F: were aborted because of an IO failure on volume F:."on top of this the drive won't recognize unless turned on after the boot is finished or off then on again once the desktop is displayed its the same regardless of what cable i use and check disk shows no errors on the drive(haven'tdone surface scan yet)i will post the results of sfc/scannowsystem informationwindows 7 ultimate 64bit8gb ddr3-1333 ram500gb sata internal hdd c:500gb usb external hdd f:athlon IIx2 3ghzmsi 1GB radeon hd 6670msi 880g-e45 motherboardlg sata internal dvd-rw drivesata controller in ahci mode
The external harddrive that I have been doing back-ups to with the Win 7 back-up utility has failed and no longer functions. I want to back-up to a different drive but Win Back-up seems to be fixated on the old drive that no longer exists (I pulled the USB cord). The "Mange space" link is greyed out and when I click on "Change Settings" I get notified that the operation failed due to an internal error (0x800800005 Server Execution Failed) I've checked and the Windows Update service is running, so why did it "fail"?
I was creating a system image backup last night and it failed because of bad clusters. Now i have 11 DVDs that were part of that backup. Do I have to start all over again?
Had a HDD failure - just replaced it and a clean install of W7 32 bit. I had been carrying out regular backups using Backup wizard and a have a recent backup set. How do I restore form that. Alternatively I have a separate backup of my documents etc. As a straight save. Would I be better to just drag them back onto new build and not bother with restore.
When I turn on my laptop it says: "SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: TOSHIBA MK3017GAS-(PM). WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to Continue". And then when I push F1 it just have a blank screen.
Does anyone know what would cause the following backup error?
The backup was not successful. The error is: Windows Backup encountered a problem while determining additional locations of one of the users included in backup. (0x81000038).
VPN configures ok but fails with error 619. Usually a authentication issue so disabled windows firewall and avast with same results. Other than the ip address, user id and password are there any other VPN configuration issues I may have missed? I followed an XP script but the Windows 7 config was very close.
I have a Win7 64-bit system and have been successfully using Windows backup on an approximately monthly basis. I ran it before going to bed last night and woke up to a "The backup failed." when I tried to create a system image of both of my hard discs. The error is "Incorrect function. (0x80070001)". I found a workaround solution at Windows backup or restore errors 0x80070001, 0x81000037, or 0x80070003 and looked up and found a number of "junction points", most rooted at c:UsersDilipAppData - but the problem is that there is no such folder.
Have a 3 yr old HP Desktop. Seems to be working O.K. It's on about 20 hours/day. Have been receiving messages that Windows has detected a HD problem, I ran the HP Support Assistant and it comes back with the, Smart Threshold Test Failed. Error Code HD521-5W Will certainly do a lot of backups now, but can anyone tell me anything about what might be happening ? Again, PC seems to be working fine.
Since June my computer has had no luck in successfully downloading the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. I have an HP Mini 110 Netbook. Not quite sure how to approach a solution for this. I constantly get error code 80041010. Any suggestions?

It is six weeks from new. When I load a dvd rom into the drive bay at the front of the computer the dvd is taken into the machine. When I try to play the disc I get the message 'insert disc'.Watching DVDs worked perfectly until a few days ago.
Recently got a new computer (about 1 month ago) for our office and we keep getting the following BSOD almost daily:The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000009f (0x0000000000000003, 0xfffffa80080d3060, 0xfffff80000b9c3d80xfffffa800994bac0). A dump was saved in: C:WindowsMEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 051012-14414-01. tried to analyze the mini dump files myself, but I can't seem to get them to open up.Not sure how to fix this issue and windows troubleshooting is uselessCurrently running: Windows 7 Professional x64 Sp1 OEM
2 days ago, my laptop stopped working and when I rebooted it, it didn't let me get into windows and took me to startup repair and after 24 hours, nothing happened, so i decided to reboot my labtop again (while it was doing startup repair still) and i used recovery cd to try to repair but it said "Imminent Hard Disk Failure" and i click continue with the startup repair, my CD work ( got into the options) and i chose startup repair and it work but after that i gave me that my Hard Disk Failer
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. Windows Security Essentials for antivirus and Windows firewall as my firewall. For a few months now Windows has failed on the automatic updates. The updates are:
Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2556532) Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2532531) Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2536276)

I tried following the steps in this article: You receive error 0x80070020 when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install updates
I tried starting windows in safe mode, but windows update will not run then. I tried doing a clean boot by following the steps in the article but no success. I tried turning off the antivirus and firewall but that did not help either. Then the article runs out of ideas so here I am.
When I start Windows 7 about 30 seconds after the login, I see an error message popping up that says: "Failed to initial environment". In the task bar I see the an icon that writes MFC, which is the program that gives the error message. I looked in my task manager under processes if I see MFC, but there is nothing like this. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.Does anyone have an idea what that would be?Here are 3 screen shots, which show the error and all processes running in my task manager.
On windows 7 start up I get an application error: Exception 'EOleStsError' in odule DUMeter.exe at 000A3A1D. Then it says Catastrophic failure, Class1D. Can I resolve this Catastrophic failure!!!
HP Pavilion DM1 notebook with Windows 7 OS 64 bit version has been experiencing BSOD many times for the past few weeks. Normally, the BSOD occurs when there is a sudden interruption in the Internet connection (Internet connection is through a USB modem as a dial-up connection). In such a case, the system refuses to acknowledge the presence of the USB in the port. After approx. 10 minutes the BSOD occurs. Else, if the Shut Down command is given, the Shutting Down screen appears, it remains for around 10 minutes and BSOD occurs eventually. The screen that appears is as follows:
DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE Technical Information: STOP : 0X0000009F 0X0000000000000004 0XFFFFFA800141DB50 OXFFFFF80000B9C510 Problem Event Name: Blue Screen OS Version - 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.2 Locale ID - 16393 Service Pack - 1_0 product - 768_1

"The system has rebooted completely without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed or lost power unexpectedly" The system is approx. 1 year old. The OS is Windows 7 Home Basic 64 bit OEM version. The OS is also 1 year old. No re-installation has been done. BIOS update not done. Windows Security Essentials has been installed successfully, that means the original OS has been pre-installed. Not able to run perfmon/report. When this is typed in the start menu, it says: No items match your search"

Everytime I turn on my computer and it asks me to select what windows to load (vista, 7 (I Don't have dual boot set up though??) and I do Windows 7, it does not Boot and gives me the winload.exe error message in my title. I have a M3A32-MDP, AMD Phenom II quad840, two maxstore 300gb hard disk set up for RAID1
Last night, i noticed i had low memory on my C drive. so I uninstalled a few programs - games mostly and needless addons - and then restarted. After restarting, the laptop got stuck at the bootup screen, at about 70%, then persisted to say "operating system not found" repeatedly.
This morning, after turning it on, it now gets past this screen, but says theres a "SMART failure predicted" on on my Hard drive. It also says ahard drive fail;ure is imminent. It does this for a few minutes, and then gets 'stuck' again at 70% at startup.
So.. is this a problem with my HDD? Everything points to this, but I'm not sure of my next step? Do i need to reinstall windows (problem, seeing as i don't have an installation disc)
I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit set to automatically update the OS. Three days ago I lost connectivity on my shared home network that uses a Netgear WN2000RPTv2 wireless extender to connect to my Ruku which had worked perfectly to stream movies. (Amazon Prime). When I began to check out the systems for possible errors, I noticed that there had been updates for Netgear, several optional and one recommended. All failed with the error code of 80070103. I've tried unplugging my routers, did a hard restart to factory defaults, etc., all resulting in no change to the systems. The desktop pc connected to it is as follows:
System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1, 64 bit Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor, AMD64 Family 21 Model 1 Stepping 2 Processor Count: 8 RAM: 10079 Mb Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570, -2048 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 932364 MB, Free - 856809 MB; D: Total - 21079 MB, Free - 2654 MB; Motherboard: Gigabyte, 2AC8 Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials, Updated and Enabled
I have just bought a new pc and it has already an error!! When I swicht off my pc, a bluescreen appears with "driver power state failure". It's the first time I have seen this error: (a little part is in italian, but errors are international![CODE]
My existing dual boot winxp/Windows 7 mirrored configuration appears to have issues. I ordered a SSD hd today from newegg. Question: new install, or just re-image the SSD? If I do new install, do I have to have a authorization from Microsoft? I purchased this Windows 7 Professional 2 years ago...
So I have spent the last few days troubleshooting the problem, I have tried most of the solutions I have found online, but still I get the 0x80070570 error at 14% of the install process. I have reformatted the hd prior to trying as well.some random observations:I have run hd diagnostics and everything passedI notice that in the BIOS setup utility that there are 3 SATA HDDs listed though I only have the one 'internal one' and no peripheralsI have downloaded and burned (and burned to USB) the .ISO file about five times with the same resultI haven't tried removing RAM because I only have one chip (4 gb) and I assume I cant have 'no' RAM to proceedAs I am sure you can imagine, it is driving me absolutely crazy.
Windows 7 hang on shutting down and shows Driver Power failure error. My very recently purchased laptop hp dv6 was showing some problems. It would get stuck at the shutdown screen and then after extended span of time I had to press and hold power key to turn it off.It doesnt happen everytime i shut down but sometimes it stucks on Windows 7 shutting down screen and displays this error on blue screen after period of time.
My system is Dell Inspiron 17R SE (7720), 1 TB Hard Disk 5400 rpm + 32 GB mSATA, 8 GB RAM, 3rd Gen i7. I was trying to make a bootable USB flash drive for windows 7 from Windows 7 Home Premium Reinstall disk that came with my Dell laptop, using the WinToFlash utility. But in starting the process, the PC froze, all applications (even explorer.exe) stopped, and Alt+Ctrl+Del refused to work. I turned the laptop off and back on, where it refused to even show the OS list and showed a DRMK message instead with a command prompt C:> as:
Loading DRMK V8.00... DRMK Version 8.00 COMMAND.COM Build 37 - Jul 28, 2008 DRMK KERNEL Build 15 - Aug 8, 2008 Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Dell Inc. All rights reserved. C:>
I tried booting from Windows 7 reinstall DVD but none of the repair options worked. I tried reinstall and repair options but my Hard Drive did not show up. It rather asked to Load Drivers for the Hard Disk. However, it did show any of the USB drives I connected to it, along with an X: drive, which must be the recovery drive for Dell's factory restore. I tried looking for Hard Disk drivers in that but no luck.
Then I downloaded from another PC a USB utility for Seagate Hard Drives from Dell website that makes a bootable USB. I ran that utility and it showed all the test passed (But there was no firmware update during the tests). Another thing I tried was using list disk command on command prompt in Windows Repair, but It did not show any drives, not even the X: drive. It only showed the USB drives I attached to it, or the DVD drive in list volume command.
I cannot boot to windows, I cannot install new windows, I cannot repair the windows and I cannot even factory restore my laptop. The hard drive shows up in BIOS, but not in Windows Boot or Windows Installation. Is there any way I can get my Hard Disk back without losing data? I have two partitions of that drive. I don't care about formatting C: Drive (Windows) but I wanna preserve E: Drive (the one filled with personal data but no programs).
