GTA4 Very Low FPS For Good System?
Jan 31, 2010just bought GTA4, installed it, just to find out the max FPS i can get is 15, i can play many other games, COD4, MW2, on highest settings and have 50+ FPS, but on this i have to set it to the very very lowest settings, to get 30FPS.Ive reinstalled it a few times, updated drivers, even OC'd my CPU and RAM halfway through, to see no difference whatsoever. Also updated it with the latest patch, and still only hits 10-15 FPS.

Mar 31, 2012I open a program and it opens on the monitor. I think restore the size, rather than having in maximum size.
The program disappears, but is still in the task bar. I click on the program icon in the task bar to make it appear in the monitor, but the program shows to open on a non-existent monitor on the left of my monitor.
I have checked Display adapters in Device Manager and they are working ok. I have checked Control PanelDisplayChange Display Settings and all looks ok.
Everything has worked find until recently. No real changes, however I suspect Microsoft Windows 7 is doing some dirty tricks after I have made multiple complaints about their poor customer support on the phones.

I.ow, which precise programs are running stealthily and eating up my data. I can actually see from my Modem Interface how the data is consumed.I would also like to know How do I use Wireshark to capture wireless traffic? Do I require an add-on card to do this?

Aug 20, 2012I am trying to restore an hp 2000-363NR notebook but I also have only 1/4 of my monitor viewable due to damage. The restore needs to be done on the main monitor because in that mode my external monitor doesn't display anything (unless Windows is booted).

Computer Won't Run Any Programs And System Restore Keeps Failing?
Dec 24, 2011I'm writing this from a different computer because I can't even get onto the internet on mine.Pretty much all programs fail to run. When I double-click on the icon, I get the usual spinning "loading" circle and then nothing happens.When I try to open straight from a saved file, I get an error message. For example, whenever I try to open a word doc, I get this error message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."Symantec Endpoint Protection has been turned off and every time I go to the Action Center to turn it back on, nothing happens. I get the usual message that asks if I want to allow the change and when I click "allow," nothing changes.I've done several system restores, even in Safe Mode, and they have all failed. System repairs have all failed too. Obviously, virus scans are out of the question and Windows Defender (one of the programs that actually will run) keeps telling me that there is no malicious software to be found on my system.
This all started yesterday afternoon. I was running Firefox as usual and had a word document open that I was typing in. I walked away from my laptop and when I came back, there were three pop-ups on the screen from a virus that I had just managed to get rid of several days before. I closed them out and was preparing to run Malwarebytes when my computer shut itself down suddenly. There haven't been any pop-ups or anything that would indicate that this is a virus. However, I tried the same fix that I used to remove the virus the first time (copying the Malwarebyes file 'mbam.exe' to the desktop and naming it as 'mbam.COM' so that it will open) but even that does not work. I've tried the regedit fix that I've found in forums here but that didn't work either.
Computer Programs Will Not Open When Turn My System On
Sep 22, 2012I have found that many of my computer programs will not open when I turn my system on. The most recent one is Sony Media Go which I need to sync my phone. When I try to lauch the application iit comes up with the following error message: Media go failed to initialize error code 0x80070057 failure in initializing operations manager step 40 and when I click on show detail the following appears: [code] I have tried unistalling and re-installing and creating a system restore to no avail.

Replacing Vista - Drivers And System Programs
Dec 5, 2009I have a brand new Toshiba laptop with Vista. It arrived just a few days before the Windows 7 release so I put the Toshiba aside and waited for the free Windows 7 upgrade disk, which just arrived.
Since I haven’t used the Toshiba yet, there’s no data or personal programs to protect. I don’t want to keep Vista, and of course I don’t want to keep all the bloatware. Currently, Vista is on the C disk; there is a recovery or backup partition (D); and E is free for data. The Toshiba did not come with a Vista restore disk so I will burn recovery disks with Vista before I install Windows 7.
Like everyone, I want a fresh, clean sparkling brand-new install of Windows 7. I can follow the tutorials to boot from the Windows 7 upgrade disk, go to advanced tools and re-format the partition with Vista (i.e. C) and then install Windows 7. I should have no problem with registration or activation since Windows 7 will see Vista before it’s deleted. I’m not 100% clear whether the recovery partition (D) will be maintained but it shouldn’t matter much because I’ve got recovery disks … right?
My two questions:
1) Do I need to worry about losing my drivers in this scenario? Should I be taking a copy of all drivers ahead of time, and if so, is there somewhere (on the Toshiba) I can easily find them all? Or will they all be on the recovery disks I burn, should I need them?
2) What about the one or two Toshiba-specific programs I might want to keep, like Config-free and facial recognition software? Are they gone with the clean install, or can I also get them off the recovery disks (or recovery partition, if it still exists post-clean install)?
Is there anything else I need to know before I get started?? I’d like to make this as painless as possible ..
Can Create A System Image Of Just Programs / Applications
Oct 9, 2012I've been using computers ever since Windows 3.1 and '95 and I have been plagued with dozens upon dozens of hdd crashes and similar occurrences which forced me to reformat and reinstall all the programs I use (and have to search and find them again...). I have learned a lot since '95. One method of keeping my apps and media safer is by keeping them on a separate larger internal hdd and running my OS on a smaller ~400gb hard drive. I have just gotten into creating full system images with Acronis that fill up 3+ blu ray discs, which is ok if I'm only making one ever, but my documents and programs consist of more than half of that data. It would be nice to make one full system image right after I reformat my computer and install all device drivers I'll be using; my questions below are in regards to making images of the programs to allow very simple install later. Let me say this as well: I know of the extreme difficulty of taking a system image created on 'PC A' and using it on 'PC B'.Basically unless PC A and B the same brand and model something is bound to not work correctly due to driver issues and hardware incompatibility. Anyways, what I am interested in now is to get one of my computers installed with all the software and plugins I typically use and create a "system image" consisting of only my programs and the necessary files to have them run properly. I understand this may be unfeasible but I'd like to further my knowledge and hear from others their ideas to my problem. I say it may be unfeasible because, when installing a program, files are saved into many different directories, including various folders within "Users" and the hidden folder "ProgramData" (as well as possibly to the "Windows" folder and/or C: as well as the computer's registry).I feel this may work if I get every file that was created at installation time as well as run windows 7 on all of my computers that I'll be using this "software-only system image" on.Is there any software that will allow me to accomplish my goal or at least make my job easier?If this is possible and assuming I'll only be using 64-bit versions of Win7, will I run into problems between, say, Home Premium and Ultimate? Is the structure or layout of the OS different in the ways / directories it installs programs into?If the above fails or is impossible then.I was considering another idea but with more work for me.In school, both high school and college we had computer labs and every computer had the same programs installed and there were many programs (say 20 programs * 100 computers in the larger labs). Albeit the computers were the same make/model, lets forget that fact for the purpose of this question, as well as the fact that all the computers were networked together which may allow little tricks here and there... Forget those facts and here is my last question: Instead of just having an image of already installed programs would there be a way for me to somehow install, say, 50 programs without launching each one individually? I would be very surprised if a program like this didn't already exist for IT people yet. For example, in a law firm, if someone in the office gets a virus do they call in the IT guys and they 1) reformat the computer 2) install OS 3) reinstall all required software one after the next? Seems a bit time consuming, in my example 20 apps * 100 computers, I couldn't imagine installing the same programs 2000 times.

Jan 14, 2013I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I have with a laptop not booting into Windows 7. The booting process hangs at the point where the mouse pointer appears, just before the welcome and logon screen. I am able to get the machine to boot by using the Last Known Good boot option, but on the next boot, it reverts back to its bad behaviour.
I can boot into safe mode. But disabling all services and startup items in msconfig does not make the problem go away. I've run a Malwarebytes scan, which detected a pup called iLivid which I removed and uninstalled. I also did a Dr. Web scan, which found and removed 1 additional problem file.
I exported the same registry control set before and after rebooting like this: I looked at HKLM/Select to find the "current" set and exported it to current.reg. Then restarted, let the boot fail, restarted using Last Known Good, then exported the "failed" set to current2.reg, which was the same set (002) as the previous "current". These files are about 15k each, so I have not pasted or attached them. I'm using Windiff to compare them, but can't find a way to export a "change" file to post here. What is interesting to me is that the failed file is smaller by 4%, so stuff has been deleted.

Aug 18, 2011I'm on my third new router in 3 weeks. I'm using the Netgear wndr3400 right now, it seems to be pretty good but I've noticed my laptop disconnects randomly and reconnects quickly. Its not a major problem but when I'm reviewing my cameras motion recordings for the day through my network it starts to drop as low as 2mbps when I look at my Network device. I cannot find one that fully fits my needs. I've tried expensive routers and mid range but it seems like my old $50 router is all that continues to work. I keep getting routers that have the wireless drop out completely until I go reset it, or the NAT settings for the 360's will be moderate. I cannot fix the NAT for all 360's, just one (or havent found a way to fix it for all) If anyone knows of a good router that can handle this type of use please suggest one, I'm willing to spend some money if its going to work.
