Can't Open Programs / Like My Computer / Recycle Bin / Personalize / System
Sep 5, 2012
I can't open programs like My Computer, Recycle Bin, Personalizize, System, and many other programs. When i click on them, nothing appears. Another thing is, the Save As, Save, and Browse buttons don't want to open.Again, when i click on the buttons, nothing appears.
I have found that many of my computer programs will not open when I turn my system on. The most recent one is Sony Media Go which I need to sync my phone. When I try to lauch the application iit comes up with the following error message: Media go failed to initialize error code 0x80070057 failure in initializing operations manager step 40 and when I click on show detail the following appears: [code] I have tried unistalling and re-installing and creating a system restore to no avail.
I am running both the 32-bit Windows 7 OS on one machine and the 64-bit OS on another machine. Love it!, BUT on the 32-bit machine a lot of commands don't seem to work. For example, when I click on Control Panel nothing happens. Same is true with Personalize.
1. while formatting your hard drive ( local disk C) consisting window xp sp2 and installing new windows 7 or vista, producing noisy sound something like "peou, peou, peou".2. after completion of formating and new installation of window 7, found that the recycle bin is already highlited and while pointing your mouse to "my computer" and double clicked to open my computer, instead of opening "my computer" it open recycle bin. 3. in continuation to this problem, in the words. after typing one sentence and while attempting to edit the spelling keeping your cursor in the middle of the sentence, it directly jumped to the end of the sentence even if touchpad made disableyou might be think that it is problem cause by virus, but it is not because the problem give after installation of new windows even if pendrive or any removable disk is not inserted.
I recently had a really annoying virus which would not go away, after 7 days of fighting with it I decided the best course of action would be to format and reinstall win 7. However now my PC is super slow, I cannot open desktop items, without right clicking and selecting "Run as Admin" and even that is really slow. If I right click and select "Personalize" it hangs for ages then says "Server Execution Failed".
My computer will not allow me to open any programs except those that came installed initially. For example, I cannot open firefox, itunes, adaware, etc. However, I can open IE, paint, games. I also cannot install anything either whether in safe mode or not, even if I change the exe name. I checked the processes and there is nothing out of the ordinary. Lastly, I tried a restore and nothing helpful came from it.
I have a Windows 7 running system and recently I am having some annoying problems with it. First of all, it takes extremely long time to start-up and shut down. After it finally loads, when I try to access one of my drives Windows Explorer freezes. It also can't identify some of the file types, and I can't run some of the applications like Disk Cleanup. I even can't open Recycle Bin. All in all it's completely messed up. I've checked it for viruses with ESET and it couldn't find any.
if i leave my comp idle for a few hours i find that none of my programs start, and sometimes i cannot even open olders on my desktop, double clicking any shortcut or even the .exe in the root program folder results in nothing happening. the start menu still opens but i cant select restart or log off as they do not appear, i can still shutdown but it takes about 30 seconds before acually responding and shutting down. Also should mention that if i open any program eg: photoshop or nero and leave the computer idle, when i return and try to continue using the program it will stop responding most of the time, any either ctrl-alt-delete or shutdown is required to quit.my power management setting are all off, hybrid sleep is off....my comp is set to never sleep in any way.i am running windows 7 pro x64, i3 processor, 4gb ram?
My computer crashes when I go to join my server in Minecraft and when I run Windows Experience Index. Except, only when i have Skype or Utorrent open. Now the reason I'm posting this in the Windows 7 forum is because this didn't happen with windows 8. Which is making me think strongly that this is software related. In event viewer it was giving me "critical error 41 kernel power'
I just recently bought an HP Pavilion p6730f BV533AA#ABA Desktop PC - Intel Core i3-550 3.2GHz, 6GB DDR3, 1.5TB HDD, DVDRW, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Right out of the box it started acting a little touchy. I bought to get a project done for a client, so immediately I installed Adobe premiere cs5 along with a slew of other programs I use day to day. Within the first two days I noticed it would sometimes fail to open new programs after it had been left on for about a day. For example: lets say I go to open firefox, so I click on the firefox icon pinned to my taskbar. It glows, as if it is loading then fades. As if the computer forgot what my request was. I try clicking a few more times; same thing. So I go to the shortcut in my start menu, click it: same thing. the little circle appears next to my cursor for a moment, then the request is gone. Tried hotkeys; (windows button plus number position on taskbar) still nothing. I then try every program on the taskbar, each with the same results. (and giving proper time for the computer to think) Even simple programs like text editor will not open. To top it off, the shutdown process wont even initiate! At which point I have to hard-crash out to restart. After a fresh restart it works fine for a few days or so till this happens.
When I click on a file or folder to open it goes to recycle bin. I can restore but this is a nuisance. It also occurs when reading my email in yahoo mail.
whenever I open an icon in my laptop it automatically shows "preparing to recycle" from discovering items in win7 & delete this short cut message window opens up. After several minutes it would stop. I cannot close this popup window.
when I right click computer and click properties, nothing happens. Same thing if I try to run system.exe from the start menu or access it through the control panel. I've just recently re-installed windows and I'm trying to activate it with my key.
I'm writing this from a different computer because I can't even get onto the internet on mine.Pretty much all programs fail to run. When I double-click on the icon, I get the usual spinning "loading" circle and then nothing happens. When I try to open straight from a saved file, I get an error message. For example, whenever I try to open a word doc, I get this error message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."Symantec Endpoint Protection has been turned off and every time I go to the Action Center to turn it back on, nothing happens. I get the usual message that asks if I want to allow the change and when I click "allow," nothing changes.I've done several system restores, even in Safe Mode, and they have all failed. System repairs have all failed too. Obviously, virus scans are out of the question and Windows Defender (one of the programs that actually will run) keeps telling me that there is no malicious software to be found on my system.
This all started yesterday afternoon. I was running Firefox as usual and had a word document open that I was typing in. I walked away from my laptop and when I came back, there were three pop-ups on the screen from a virus that I had just managed to get rid of several days before. I closed them out and was preparing to run Malwarebytes when my computer shut itself down suddenly. There haven't been any pop-ups or anything that would indicate that this is a virus. However, I tried the same fix that I used to remove the virus the first time (copying the Malwarebyes file 'mbam.exe' to the desktop and naming it as 'mbam.COM' so that it will open) but even that does not work. I've tried the regedit fix that I've found in forums here but that didn't work either.
So, I was running SpaceSniffer, an application that scans my hard drive and displays where the most memory is being used up, and I found something extremely interesting. My Recycle Bin on the desktop is empty, as it should be since I just emptied it. However, the Recycle Bin folder within System Volume Information is occupying 199.9 GB of my space.
When I have a couple of screens open on my desktop. When I click on an icon for, lets say, iTunes, I can see the iTunes window appear behind the translucent taskbar of Win 7. Ditto for MS World. How do i get programs that are already open to open up with ONE click, instead of having to closed down all the other windows.
For a while my windows 7 64 bit would open my images in Documents. Now when I try they appear as a garbled strange format. If I go to PSP ProX2 they open fine. This is a problem for me since I often need to add images to document Newsletters I send out.
I have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.
Computer boots ok, the screen will stay on aprox 5 minutes and then the screen saver comes on for about 5 min and then the computer goes to sleep. I would like to be able to keep the main screen on for about 45 min and then have the screen saver come on for about 30 min. I can find no way to do this. I just got this new computer HP Sllimline with Win 7 Home Premium. It has 750 gig hard drive and memory is 4 gig, actual free memory is about 3.8 gig 3.10 GH AMD ATHLON ii X2 255.motherboad is a Pegatron Corp 2A6C. put in use on 3/3/2011 and not a lot of information came with it.
I know how to personalize my pc with different background colors. However, I would like to know how to use an image stored on my pc instead of a background color. I currently have a slideshow running with my favorite pics and the background color frames those pics, but I would like another image for the background instead of a color.
My "personalize" right cick doesnt not work, i get an unknown erroe or something like that i have ran scannow and it didnt fix anything, also it is not in my cotrol panel under either icon or catergory veiw.
Got a Toshiba laptop and how to customized icons. My aim is to have icons only and wherein I can also replace the icon.
For instance, "COMPUTER" icon. I can only see the computer icon on my wallpaper area and no word "Computer" on it. Also, if it is possible for the computer icon to be replaced with a different icon such as my face..
So I noticed a cool AeroGlass theme and wanted to install it.. apparently the patch software was only suppose to work on Windows 7 Starter.. I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit..When I right click on personlize I get an error window that says Explorer.exe at the top and Unexpected Error for the error message.I did some searching my system for and I found the following log from the patcher software.. Here is the info in the log:[CODE]
My son recently bought minecraft. Today he installed something call too many itens for mindcraft. After that most of my programs on the computer will not open. Instead of there normal icons on the desktop they have the internet explorer logo. when I click on it a window pops up asking me if I want to open or save this file.
Since the ninth of February some programs (mainly Warhammer Dawn of war 2, Skype and starcraft 2) just won't run. When I open Skype it doesn't give me nothing and the process just disappears after a few seconds. Warhammer gives me an error which he cannot find info on his website and starcraft 2 gives me a Huge message which can be found here : [URL]. And I have OTL but I just don't know how to use it.
Most programs I try to open takes me to "Open With" window where I can only choose from one selected program (Internet explorer) and never works. Some programs, like HijackThis says: Application Not Found.
I had recently had the Win 7 Total Security virus and removed it. Now I can't open anything.
I have an issue with my Windows / my PC. Last night I used my PC just fine and so on. But when I turned it on today and logged in I couldn't open my most used programs (StarCraft II, Windows Live & Firefox 5 - Dunno if there's more). I find it extremely ordinary, and it has never happened before..
What happens is, that I click the shortcut and nothing happens. I tried editing my exefile default to something else, but this doesn't work either. I thought to myself: Oh well, I'll just uninstall - but NO! I can't even uninstall the programs.
As of last night, my computer will no longer allow any programs to open. This includes IE and all other web browsers. There is no error message, the applications simply fail to open. The hourglass appears as if a program is starting, but then it vanishes and the program never opens.
I was working on my computer and needed to reboot after doing a scan with spybot search and destroy. All of the sudden on bootup there is a prolonged period where the screen is just dead. When it loads finally, it's very slow. I have Google chrome pinned to the taskbar and when I click on the icon, it pops up asking for approval if I want chrome to make changes to my hard drive. I also can't right click or type. I've tried everything I can think of, even two system restores.
