Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
I'm using Thunderbird as my email client and I used to have a desktop icon I could click to open the send mail window with a pre-addressed mail. I created a desktop shortcut and put something like this in the location window:
mailto:(url)....
This doesn't seem to work in Windows 7 64 bit and instead of a shortcut icon I get a small desktop file created. When I click it, a send mail window opens but it isn't pre-addressed and the desktop file is an attachment.
How to Change the Icon of a Shortcut in Windows 7 ?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI've seen solutions posted all over for removing the desktop icon from appearing in windows 7 when you press alt+tab, but this does not seem to aply the change to the win+tab shortcut.I added a DWORD called 'AltTabSettings' inKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer and set the value to 1, is this supposed to work for both alt+tab and win+tab? If not, anyone know how to do this? It would make win+tab (which is much prettier of an effect than alt+tab) much more effective.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve noticed some shortcuts i have seem to be losing their icon graphic, when i search for the original exe it too is the same, if i reboot the problem is solved for a while then starts happening again, it seems to happen mostly to shortcuts i keep in folders on desktop but it doesnt happen to all of them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomehow, as usual, I deleted all the shortcuts that I had on my taskbar. In the process or reinstalling the shortcuts, the Revouninstaller shortcut icon just wouldn't attach to the taskbar. There was no pin to taskbar in the content menu.?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen using Notepad (Version 6.1.7600.16385) (or just any Version for that matter) and trying to delete a whole word using the very handy ctrl + delete shortcut key, the Notepad application types this very strange symbol instead. Actually... I couldn't paste it for some reason. But it looks like a little box thing. Just try it in notepad and you will see it appear. First of all I find this annoying, so I was wondering what can I do to make it so ctrl + del works in Notepad for deleting whole words (because I love notepad). And second, why does it do this? Notepad isn't the only text box in Windows 7 that does this, I've found it on a couple of other text input elements as well. And what does this symbol even mean?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI enabled PC Tablet Support in the windows features section of windows 7, but i still can't get windows to pop up that on screen keyboard icon that usually displays next to any type of data input fields. My windows is NOT installed on a tablet pc, but i recently connected a touch screen to my desktop and am hoping to get the same sort of functionality like my tablet edition of xp had.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past two weeks I have had a strange white box overlay my desktop. I see nothing in task manager that is associated with it. I killed every process that I could and it is still there. Reboot doesn't help. I have Norton and Windows Defender, neither show any spyware or virus. I have run msconfig and disabled everything in startup with no luck. It appears about 2 minutes after logging in. I've watched the task manager as it appears and there are no new tasks that show up when it appears. If I alt-tab it goes away, other than that it is always there and always on top of any program I open. I've tried every display setting I can think to try.
View 8 Replies View RelatedShortcut Icons just show the >unknown< icon.I have tried to:
1. reboot in safe mode
2. move the shortut folder in and out
3. closed Explorer.exe and reopen it.
4. the last thing i've tried was to use the system restore as many say htat would help the problem. but when i want's to run system Restore it comes with the fatal error "0x80090067", so i cannot restore. WTF.
i downloaded a video file and when I checked the folder it was downloaded to it was not there. I then used windows explorer to locate the file and it found it. However, I got this error message "this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shorcut will no longer work properly."
View 8 Replies View RelatedI often have to create Shortcuts to executable code. I used Shortcut Extension - Remove or Restore to get Code: SED.exe instead of the Windows 7 default Code: SED.exe - Shortcut as name of the newly created shortcut.
But I would prefer to have just 'SED'. Any way to do this automatically?
I think it might matter that I do not hide extensions ['Hide extensions for known files' (Option in Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View)].
I have a fresh install of win 7 64 bit Home Premium. When I right click on a shortcut and open its properties dialog, the only tabs i get are "General", "Compatibility", "Security", "Details", and "Previous Versions", but no "Shortcut" tab. I have searched the Web and there are very few instances of this problem and no solution. I have tried everything I can think of with no success.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.

The icon I want to use exists somewhere.
