I use Windows 7.I delete shortcut icon of program on desktop by shift+delete keyAnd when I open program(it work as normal) but it show unknown icon.I DELETE ALL SHORTCUT ICONS OF ANY PROGRAM (like MICROSOFT OFFICE, ABODE PHOTO SHOP,...) ON DESKTOP, NOW ALL THOSE PROGRAMS IS SHOWN UNKNOWN ICON IN ANYWHERE OF MY WINDOW LIKE ON TASKBAR AND START>PROGRAM.

This doesn't seem to work in Windows 7 64 bit and instead of a shortcut icon I get a small desktop file created. When I click it, a send mail window opens but it isn't pre-addressed and the desktop file is an attachment.

The desktop shortcut icons that I create myself to run existing programs keep disappearing from the desktop all by themselves. Those that were already on the desktop when I received the computer and those that are created by new software when installed on the computer have no problem remaining on the desktop. Actually... I couldn't paste it for some reason. But it looks like a little box thing. Just try it in notepad and you will see it appear. First of all I find this annoying, so I was wondering what can I do to make it so ctrl + del works in Notepad for deleting whole words (because I love notepad). And second, why does it do this? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a really annoying problem with desktop icons.I use 2 monitors. 1920x1200 is the main dislay and 1600x1200 is another one for extended desktop. The thing is that I don't need it all the time so I'd like to switch the extended desktop on and off when I need it. Problem is that entering the ex. desktop just somehow changes the grid (it seems that the grid becomes more compressed in vertical direction). That means that it always messes my icons up. I don't know why do the Windows change the grid when I do not change the resolution or just anything that could possibly affect the main screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo here's something weird. On a firends computer, he has a folder on the desktop that appears to be a duplicate of the users folder in the Users folder. It shows it's on the desktop when you open the Computer icon and in your browse window it's there. You can select it and it opens up and it's exactly the same as the user folder of the same name.
If you right click it, you don't reaaqlly get anything. It doesn't have a shortcut display either.If you look at the actual desktop, it's not there. Only in the browse window. When I switched Firefox back to default my links switched also.
