Frequent Not Responding Message During Browsing - Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1
Feb 1, 2013
I need to solve my problem with "Not Responding" browser. My browser is Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1 (latest as of this date). When I browse using it, it starts normally but after a minute or two, the browser starts to "hang" and above the browser window, a "Not Responding" message shows up after the Mozilla Firefox name. This makes my PC slow down, and even opening the Task Manager takes a minute to show. But, if I wait, it will return to running status. It just too annoying to have this problem everytime I do browsing. I already uninstall and reinstall the browser but problem persists. I don't know if Mozilla Firefox is the problem, I have some doubt because I use this a long time before this problem occurred.
I upgraded my graphics card from GT 240 1GB GDDR5 to HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 in November 2012.But I am noticing a strange issue recently but have no idea whether the card has something to do with it.The problem occurs very rarely though it is annoying. During browsing using Mozilla Firefox, the Firefox freezes, then whole system freezes and returns to normal within seconds with a single beep sound from speakers/headphones. I have tried "turning off hardware acceleration" but still it occurs without that. There are no issues other this.Only freezes and returns to normal within seconds.
The driver version :Catalyst 12.8 {I have tried Catalyst 12.10 and even Beta version 12.11 but the problem exists in all drivers. But catalyst 12.8 seems to be stable with games and uses very low power while playing HD videos in my own benchmark. So I am using 12.8.} Mozilla Firefox version : 18.0 {The same issue was present in previous Firefox versions (17 series) and I haven't tried versions older than that due to security risk} Can anyone tell what the problem might be? Besides graphics card is stable and fur mark test run successfully with 65-70 degree C temp as highest.
I am trying to download mozilla firefox to use instead of explorer....it keeps telling me to check my proxy settings or my internet....my internet is running fine.....how do I get this freeware on my computer? What is required to download?
I seem to be having issues with Mozilla Firefox. I think the issues revolve around the latest version, It will stop responding and do it several times in a row. I end up having to kill the process entirely from task manager. [code]
For the longest time both IE and Mozilla Firefox worked perfectly fine except for if i clicked a Google link i was always redirected but I was able to find a way around that but recently on two profiles on my home computer both IE and Mozilla Firefox wont open i have tried to click on them i have tried to run them as administrator and i have tried re-installing Mozilla Firefox i have also tried opening through other programs that give you the option to open your selected browser from there but nothing works i have even tried making a new profile in which they opened perfectly but when i turned the computer off for the night and turned it back on the new profile had the same issue.
Quote: There is a reason Mozilla announces the release of a product days after uploading it to their servers. And that reason is that testing is still performed and that finding a serious issue would force the company from shipping the product to end-users (these can be viewed as release candidates).
And this is exactly what happened in the case of Firefox 8.0.1. The build was available for download from Mozillas FTP up until today, when it was deleted because of RoboForm-related issues.
One of the problems the development team was working in order to ready a Firefox 8.1.0 update was gathering information for blocklisting RoboForm DLL. It looks like trouble ran much deeper than that and a second build is now required.
You can still download the initial Firefox 8.0.1 release and it should not cause any trouble as long as you dont mix RoboForm in.
previously when i right clicked on the quick launch icon of Mozilla Firefox i used to get options like New window, New tab, Start private browsing etc etc, but now it isn't.
For some strange reason the refresh button on Mozilla Firefox 9 (also on Explorer 8) have vanished from my computer. I can't get a reasonable answer searching,
How do I delete the apps ads on my top task bar on Mozilla Firefox..These ads really are starting to bother me. I also have one that appears in the bottom right corner of my screen when I'm looking at a searched item?
After a complete system recovery when I wanted to save an image I go to File, Save as and Mozialla Firefox saves it as Firefox document. I cannot open the image. In the past I use to save using Irfanview in a JPG format. How can I delete or disable my Firefox document save? I may have invertently sent a post incomplete by hitting the enter button.
On an irregular basis, sometimes 4 or 5 times a day or sometimes once a week, when I start up Mozilla Firefox it will only start in safe mode. I have to restart the computer (HP TouchSmart desk top) to get it to run correctly. If I try Internet explorer, when it's doing this, it keeps opening up new windows until it won't open up anymore.
I have all my updates up to date, anybody got any ideas. I run Norton antivirus which also automatically updates.
i have a self-built pc that i have been using for about 2 years. i have had problems with bsod in the past and recently reinstalled my operating system (windows 7 64 bit) about 2 weeks ago. in the past few days i have been getting nonstop bsod, about 5+ per day although not all are being shown in the dump files according to bluescreenview. usually i am not doing anything when these occur except browsing the internet or listening to music on Internet. sometimes i will have a game minimized in the background while i am doing work. i have had these problems before but have not been able to put my finger on what is causing them. i have attached requested files with my computer specs, so if there is any advice you can give me or any insight into what might be causing these, please let me know. it is difficult for me to understand on my own because most errors are different according to the bluescreenview reports.
I have been getting a FREQUENT NOT RESPONDING ERROR resulting in a freeze which can last 30 seconds to a minute. It happens mostly in windows but also on the net occasionally. My net speed is slow , even though when I test it, it usually displays a speed of about 20 or more.MY cable speed that I pay for is 12 G.I am on Windows 7 and my comp is 6g memory with a HD of 750 g with 300g free space.I have done all the necessary to make sure that nothing starts that should not start up.
I have for some time had problems with my computer slowing down and suffering from frequent bouts of 'Not Responding' on applications, mainly Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel. My computer is now at the stage where it is periodically unusable?
libreoffice 3.5 crashes all the time and says "not responding".steam has crashed saying the same thing.Chrome and file explorer are fine though.I have been using a new SSD for a while now (OS installed on this) and have had no problems until 2 and half weeks later. Just installed spybot search and destroy recently also.Programs Not Responding - general-discussion - windows-7.And used the solution where I remove a RAM stick and set the BIOS to default settings. This worked for about 45 minutes (longer than usual) and then the same problems occurred again. Then tried uninstalling avira antivirus - no use.Un-installed spybot to see if that was it, but could not reverse changes it made (advised when un-installing) as it said their were no changes.
I randomly receive "server not found" while browsing on IE, Firefox, or chrome. A refresh or 5 usually does the trick. Even when that works most of the time the webpages arent fully displayed . Sometimes I'll have to reset the router and that is only a temporary fix. I've called Belkin, Geek squad ETC. exercised my options. Laptop is 2 mos old, (wifi). my desktop(wired) doesn't seem to have these issues. My iPhone 4 when using the wifi has the same random" server not found" issues.
I have the following configuration on an assembled computer:
PHENOM II X4 + Gigabyte GA 88 GMA UD 2H Seagate HDD 500GB Sata DDR-3 Corsair x2 HD 6850 Cooler Master SMPS 500W Windows 7 64-bit
My issue is that computer freezes when I browse the internet with Chrome, Firefox and Explorer. I can work with Explorer with one tab as of now - I can't open more than one because it freezes the entire computer in a minute or two after opening additional tabs. I have tried System Restore, Registry cleaner, defrag, anti virus scans Mbam scans etc but nothing works.
A few days ago I had shifted the computer to a warmer room and stupidly put the chassis next to an inverter which emits heat. I used to have freezes earlier but it was a rare occurrence maybe just 1-2 times a week - but yes it used to be there before. Opening many tabs as I wanted in chrome, firefox or explorer was never a problem earlier. I have the problem is only with internet browsing - playing videos, music, work on excel, ppt etc is no problem.
No matter if I use Chrome or Firefox my computer freezes and ends up to "not responding" if the browser opens up initially on desktop folder for uploading a file to any websites.
My computer is only a couple weeks old. I use the latest version of Firefox and today it keeps freezing up. It will just say Not Responding. I've rebooted several times and it's still doing it. Not sure what else to do.I'm not very techie.
Every time I am browsing with firefox it freezes up randomly. But most of the time when using hotmail. I am running firefox 8.0 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Now I have found out that it is most likely the cause of all the plugins so I will post a list of all the installed plugins. Though most of them I do not remember allowing them to install.
The enabled plugins are:
- 2007 microsoft office system - bank e-dentifier - adobe acrobat - divx web player - google update - itunes application detector - windows media player - nexon game controller - npffapi - quicktime - realplayer plugin - shockwave flash - silverlight
Disabled ones are:
- BYond stub - divx vod helper - getplus for adobe - google earth - google talk - java deployment toolkit - realjokebox NS - reallusion CT4player - realplayer G2 Liveconnect-Enabled - Shockwave for director - Yahoo application state
Exensions are:
- Adblock plus - Element Hider - Final Fantasy Radio toolbar (which I wanted) - Zonealarm security toolbar
Around once a week, Firefox freezes (sometimes when I'm away and sometimes when I'm using it) and Windows returns an ApphangB1 error on my laptop. I also occasionally see an ApphangB1 error when using Word and Explorer[CODE]
I try to open my firefox web browser on start up but error says: Firefox is already open but not responding, please close existing browser or restart the pc. I checked in windows start task manager but I don't see firefox open.
It doesn't affect anything but my browser. What happens is this: Once I get into Firefox any bookmarks I try to select only responds to multiple "Reloads". Nothing else in the system has non-response like this. I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled the software to no avail. I'm asking about this only because I can't find anything concerning this problem on the mozilla website. Am I alone or is anyone else having this problem also.
When I'm using Firefox, my Foxit Reader has been randomly popping the sign 'can't read the PDF file' when I haven't been trying to read any PDF files, especially when I'm clicking the "Apply" button in [URL] and when I'm on [URL]. Because of this problem I tend to avoid FF and use IE, but IE has another problem: it doesn't change the home default website as I tell it to.
i have a problem with my connection. if i download, my connection always dropped, in troubleshoot showing "the dns server isn't responding". but only when i downloading and buffering at Internet.
