Experiencing Flickering Of Screen When Connecting To A TV Via VGA/HDMI?
Feb 8, 2013
Lately my girlfriend has been experiencing some flickering when connecting her laptop to my TV using a VGA cable or using HDMI. I know it's not the TV or the cables, since using my laptop (and others) worked fine.I updated her display drivers. She doesn't have a dedicated graphics card -- just one of those integrated ones -- but has never had a problem before. I'm not really sure what more to do for troubleshooting
I am pretty decent with computers but not an expert. I am having a little trouble with my home theater PC display flickering. My video card is a Radeon HD 6900 and the drivers are up to date. I have the HDMI out of my PC going to an Onkyo 7.1ch HT-R590 receiver and it's output going to my LG 42" TV. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate X64.The system used to work perfectly fine but over time the display started to flicker at random times. I tried to hook my PC directly to my TV and it works perfectly fine, so I am 100% certain the problem is in the receiver. I did a bit of research and it appears to be a problem with my receiver over heating.
Now, if I run my HDMI to my TV, I cannot use 7.1ch surround sound. (Even after playing with Audio Return Channel) If I run optical to the receiver, my video card only puts out 5.1ch surround sound for some weird reason. So I did the next obvious choice, I ran a DVI to HDMI to my TV for video and HDMI to my receiver for audio. I thought it would trick it into thinking there was two displays but this does not work, I do not get audio. was wondering if you guys knew of any utilities that would allow me to output audio on one HDMI stream and video on my DVI port. I did a lot of looking around and it looks like DMCA calls for HDMI to be encrypted and you can't separate the stream. Or would I just be better off getting a separate audio card to connect to my a/v receiver
I am having trouble getting video when connecting my PC to my LG LCD TV via HDMI.When I connect the two via HDMI, the television displays "no signal" however when I go into the Intel HD Graphics utility, it recognizes my TV and shows information about it.I find this strange because, previously I have been able to connect the two without any issues.SpecsASUS K52 NotebookCore i3 350MIntel HD Graphics320 GB HDD4 GB RAM
I connected my HP Pavilion dv4-2165dx to my TV via the HDMI slot, and worked perfectly. I disconnected the cable from the notebook when I was done and still got the main LCD display to work. When I restarted the system, the LCD display was gone, just a blank screen with a backlight. The system is booting correctly, I can hear the windows7 startup sounds and even type my password in and access my account. So far I know that:
1. The screen hardware is not damaged, because after some reboots and taking the battery off for an hour I could get the input back with no problem (with windows complaining about being unable to boot and suggesting me to run Startup repair), but got a black screen again after rebooting again.
2. I can connect the HDMI again and get the output on the TV screen, but no main display is detected. If I toggle between displays with fn+f4, only the external HDMI-TV display works.
3. I get no startup screen either. That is, not even the first screen from where I can access the BIOS. But if I connect the HDMI-TV from the beginning I get all that info on the TV.
4. I reinstalled the Graphics driver from HP with no change.
My guess is that somewhat I messed up the default configuration and that the system is only recognizing the external displays as default displays. I haven't been able to modify this from the Control Panel - Display Settings menu, and I don't know where in the registry this default startup options could be.
I have the Acer Aspire 5741Z and it has HDMI connection on the side. I plugged in the cord to the laptop and then to the TV. Sometimes (depending on the model of the TV) when I set the menu to HDMI the TV will search for the connection and signal and connnect automatically. Then with other TV's is doesn't.What am I doing wrong or does to laptop has to be configured someway?

I have an xfx radeon hd 6790. I am using the hdmi port and the display port for two tvs and I am using the vga (I think its called the vga) port it sez right on the box that it supports 3 monitors. I can switch between any two that I want but I cant get all three to work at the same time. I try to use all three at the same time I get "to extend the display another display must be disabled".
I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop (far beyond the requirements). Before the installation, I was running Windows XP. I am currently attempting to play Warcraft III but the screen flickers every 15 seconds. The game has been reinstalled successfully, including appropriate updates, screen resolution, and refresh rate.
Nothing fixes the flickering and it is a little annoying. Can anyone help me out or suggest some possible solutions?

3 days ago, I started getting these 'flickering' pop ups at the top left hand corner of my screen. Some are whole ads and others are just bits and pieces like a 'puzzle'. They are non-stop and especially when I am on my AOL 'Welcome/home page'. I can hardly read what is displayed on my left screen.
i am using nvidia geforce 520mx on my samsung laptop.the screen is flickering so much while playing medal of honor.i am on latest drivers directly from nvidia(issue is there even before the update). bug in game:no,the game dosent flickers when played on discrete graphics.
Before the problem, here are the specs: I have 6870 CFX6GB 1666 MHZand I7 965 ExtremeI have Crysis 2 (original, not skidrow not reloaded and etc) and it worked great 2 months ago. Now I want to play it again and this is what I get, but 25 times worse:[URL]
i have got windows 7 ultimate 32bt 6.1 build 7600 and i have got a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5355.
I have just installed Civilization 4 and when it loads the screen flickers blue while the movies are playing and then when its on the main menu it flickers but not a blue screen just its all weird.
I can remember last week Windows Update updated my SIS mirage 3 graphics driver and i have had windows 7 installed for about 2 weeks now.
I upgraded my pc yesterday and reinstalled Windows 7. Now on the starting Windows screen I have a little underscore blinking in the top left corner of the screen.
A couple of days ago, I noticed my screen started flickering randomly. Nothing really changed to my computer. I have uploaded a video which you can see right here: [URL]
I've tried quite a few things such as completely renewing my drivers and such. The video shows the flickering on Facebook but it happens a lot more then just on Facebook.
i have just installed 7 32bit onto a clean hdd, everything is great apart from my 8600gt!
i have an asrock nf6g vsta (built in vga), the built in vga works fine but my 8600gt displays a black flickering screen in vga mode and dvi (it sometimes comes up with a fraction of the top part of the screen but it is flickering)
when i have tried both out (onboard and 8600), i have disabled the other display adaptor so there shouldnt be conflict about them both running at once
i have previously had 7 installed with no problems with this card, but hard drive failiure leaded to a new drive and now this error. my display is a samsung 2232bw too.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and have had problems with screen flicker in WCIII since the upgrade. I've checked for driver updates, played with the refresh rate and resolution and tried the compatibility troubleshoot all to no avail.
As the title says my computer screen flickers white when gaming. Ive pre loaded driver software which have indicatedthat alot of drivers are out of dare.
I have been experiencing various BSODs over the past month on my computer, which I only built this January. They mostly happen while my computer is idle, but occasionally they occur while I am doing general activities, like browsing folders or the Internet. Recently I've seen them while starting games (tonight it was GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City), but most of the time I can play games for hours without experiencing BSODs.

I have tried reinstalling my OS. I am not overclocking. I've run MemTest in overnight tests, first on one stick, then the other, than both sticks - no failures. I've tried to make sure all my drivers were up to date, and I've turned Driver Verifier on - had a few related BSODS but haven't been able to track down any conclusive info on what they indicate. I've also run FurMark to stress test my GPU, and that test passed. I have also downloaded Crystal Disk Info and HD Tune to test my SSHD and HD, and both look to be fine.I am not sure what else to do... I think it is either the SSHD or drivers, but I`m not sure how to further track that down.
I am currently experiencing a BSOD after I put my computer into hibernate/sleep mode. Model: U46E-BAL6 ASUS, After I restart my computer, the windows crash report says the problem lies in my 080712-18283-01.dmp 080712-18283-01.dmp and a 2nd BSOD happened a little after, and the problem file is 080712-16395-01.dmp 080712-16395-01.dmp I have attached both files below, could someone take a look and solve the problem?

recently reformatted and already experiencing drastic slowdown as soon as windows comes up, including repeated lockups with multiple various programs reporting that they are not responsive, then recovering after 10-30 seconds. ive checked memory and hard drive both of which come out fine. despite my plethura of worthless antiviral software im forced to assume that my illicit downloading practices have lead me into some comp trouble that i cant seem to determine. i have used ccleaner, search and destroy and malware bytes, all of which have found nothing to indicate what is causing this massive slowdown. in addition according to my resource manager my computer is operating at a load of only 30-50 percent CPU useage and 60 ram useage but taking 5-10 seconds to load files and open folders, and repeated lockups of multiple programs, especially firefox which seems to go unresponsive every 2-3 minutes. i used a program called OTL by old timer, but cant make any sense of the results i was given.
running windows7 with linksys wireless router and cannot connect to the internet. there are no networks listed and get the message that the connection is experiencing driver failure or hardware problem. other PC and laptop on same system are connecting as normal.
I have a Packard Bell EasyNote TJ71 laptop running windows 7. I use an HDMI cable to attatch to a flat screen TV and generally have no problem bringing up the second screen then changing over to the TV as the one screen when I watch a movie. I only need to do this as closing the lid on the portable switches it off.The problem I have is that I can not get the sound transferred to the TV,
I am having an issue of HDMI working during PC boot, but TV loses signal just before Windows 7 log in screen comes up (TV shows "No Signal" at this point). If I use VGA to connect PC to TV, everything works fine. [code] One thing I noticed is that Windows 7 device manager sees my TV as a "Generic PNP Monitor". I have no idea if this is connected to my issue or not. The Intel website says my drivers are up to date when I run their update utility. The Intel Graphics utility on my PC sees my TV as a monitor, not as a TV, but it does list the correct model # (M260MV).I've tried connecting both the TV with HDMI and a PC Monitor with the VGA cable and the computer would only detect the PC monitor with the VGA cable.I have read on an Intel site that others with the Core i3 CPU had similar problems so this may be a CPU/CPU driver issue, but as I said, the Intel Update Utility says my drivers are up to date.
my computer likes to underscan when I connect to my 720p plasma tv over HDMI. it doesn't do this over VGA though. The problem is, In order to play Blu-Ray disks my software FORCES me to connect over HDMI, and my TV doesn't support DVI.I managed to get it close, but the pixel mapping is off. I can't get it any closer, as the adjustments only go by 5% increments.
I recently made a thread on this forum talking about how my new PC setup has suddenly started creating lines on my screen
Link: Wavy lines across screen, (usually grey-ish colours) on new setup.
After trying a full list of things; 2 different monitors 2 different VGA cables 3 different mice 3 different keyboards change power supply change graphics card used onboard graphics switched ram sticks and removed one at a time reformatted a dozen of times unplugged all sound from computer checked motherboard for any visual problems and couldn't see any updated all drivers I could possibly think of Ran Memtest for 7 passes with no errors I've finally found out the problem and that was when I connected my graphics card using HDMI to a HDMI compatable monitor it worked fine and I had no more lines!
So it seems that using HDMI is working fine but soon as I use a VGA cable its not working and the lines are back. It only confused me more when I connected a VGA cable from another computer to the monitor it all worked fine.
As far as I can tell it's something to do with my computers VGA/HDMI settings, I've tried onboard VGA and that still didn't work so it doesn't seem to be a graphics card problem just something is stopping VGA working properly but HDMI is working.
I'm gonna have to go buy an expensive new monitor with HDMI compatability.
I want to watch my laptop on the tv. iv pluged in the cable the screen comes on the tv but only small. iv tried to change the resolution and download a tv tunner but they arnt workking.
My little brother came home from work one night and now is screen doesn't work at all. no flickering, backlight etc. I connected it top the TV via HDMI and even that didn't show up anything. How high are the chances that his graphics card has died?
