Since I switched to 7 I've been having this problem with my Eset Smart Security. Every time I start the computer a little window pops up and says that it's trying to install "eset personal firewall miniport #xxx" then fails. I've tried reinstalling ESS and also going into device manager and updating the device. Does anyone know how to fix this issue.
Is MS Essential enough to be secure or do you need a 3th party software like Eset or Kaspersky? I know that MS Essential does only once a day update but i wonder if the pay software is really that much better. For some years i used Linux and software wasn't necessary. On Windows on the other hand you do need protection.
I've recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Beta Build 7000 and I have Comodo Firewall 3.8.65951.477 64-Bit installed as my firewall. I get this problem that I can't solve at all .
When I click on " Run Diagnostics" I have this :
Indeed, I click "Yes" and this is what comes next :
Recently had a virus infection and noticed that the windows firewall service is missing. When trying to reset to recommended settings by using control panel received error code 0x80070424. Cannot access other computers or shared files/folders on home network. Saw a previous post dated 12-17 that appears to be the same problem.
After a strange install/uninstall of a dodgy modem, my wireless driver doesn't start. When i try to reinstall its' driver, it errors with 'Parameter not correct'. I later found out that this has something to do with WAN Miniport PPTP not being present (which must've been to do with that dodgy modem). However, I can't seem to find the driver for it or any way to reinstall.
im having a problem with my wifi miniport adapter. its not working anymore. I tried reinstalling it but it doesnt work. i tried disabling it and enabling it but also not working
Let me explain to you my setup before I explain my problem. I have a desktop computer with a wireless network card which connects to the router and the internet. I have a LAN cable attached from the desktop to my xbox 360. I have both my wireless connections and LAN connection bridged so I can play xbox 360 on xbox live without using the proprietary wireless adapter. My wireless network is capable of connecting to my wireless n router upto 300mbps.
So here is the issue:
When my xbox 360 is on, the Mac Bridge Miniport speed is listed as either 300mbps or sometimes 1Gbps which is good. As soon as I turn it off, the speed drops to 54mbps and stays there. In order for me to get it back to 300mbps I have to delete the Mac Bridge Miniport and recreate it or I have to turn my xbox back on. Is there someway I can make the Mac Bridge Miniport stay at 300mbps always, even when the xbox is off?
I cannot access the Internet from my desktop.I get message that Wan Miniport (IKEv2) cannot upload 31. I guess I need to download updated driver but how can I do it if I cannot access the Internet from this machine. I have a laptop. My laptop runs on Vista and my desktop on Window 7 64 bit.
Seem to be going around in circles ... just want to install Wan Miniport (IKEv2) driver. The driver won't install. I have a new internal adapter ... I haven't intalled yet. That's the issue ... Isn't it? The driver needs the adapter to recongize. Did I fix it myself? Install the adapter then the drivers
I have this device "WAN Miniport (IKEv2)" under Network Adapters and it's always listed as not working. I disabled it a long time ago but it always comes up as an error when I scan my computer. It won't update the driver, Windows always says that there was an error, and as far as I can see it doesn't do anything but it won't let me remove it even though it isn't working.
my above device is not working properly as per report .i had updated the divice driver ,tryied manuall install dell's driver but all are useless, its stil not working i think.
I'm trying to create a virtual wifi AP using the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter and the netsh wlan command line context, but it's giving me a headache."netsh wlan show drivers" in the command line includes the output line "Hosted network supported: Yes" so my wireless card should be supported, correct? I can setup the hostednetwork fine with "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=blah key=blah" but when I try to start it with "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" I get the following output:"The hosted network couldn't be started. The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation."My network adapter is a Rosewill RNX-N1 which contains a Ralink 2870 chipset (that chipset has been confirmed to support hostednetwork).
A windows update failed, and didn't back out properly. My machine is left crippled and cannot access the Internet (so can't use MS Driver update!). It won't let me manually download the driver (AGILEVPN.SYS)
A recent thread on Sevenforums got me thinking. Why does Microsoft say in their license terms that you can't use an OEM license for personal use, but they sell it through third parties (Amazon and Newegg) and they know that ordinary people are going to buy these OEM copies. If Windows Activation goes through with it then it must be fine, right? Also, I kind of mentioned this already, but why would they sell it through third parties if they CLEARLY know that any average personcould come across it and buy it. It doesn't say anywhere on Amazon's product description page that I have to sell it to a third party.
Need to remove all personal info stored befoer doing so and would like to return pcu to its original factory settings w/o damaging or removing important programs. DELL STUDIO XPS 7100 W/WINDOWS 7 ULTIATE HOME AND KAPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY PROGRAM. Can anyone offer some good advice or referrals
I'm selling a Dell Vostro 320, OS Windows XP and would like to know how to remove personal info. I created a new administrator account and deleted the old one where the personal info was stored.
I have a Dell Dimension 8300 and a Gateway MFATXPNT ESX 500S P04 just sitting around. Lately I have been thinking about trying to make one of them into what I can only describe as a VPN. I don't really know what I am talking about so I am going to tell you my result, or the end goal, of what I want to have happen. So basically I want the "Machine" to: act as a firewall, mask my IP and Subnet Address, and encrypt what pages I visit and what I download. I don't have to be able to access it from a remote point but the option is always nice.I am not downloading or uploading anything illegal. I just want another project and I figured this would be good to do until I can go to school to become an IT Administrator.
In this tutorial, we'll demonstrate how to work with files and folders, specifically the personal folders on your computer. Every user account on a Windows 7 machine has several personal folders designed for storing documents, music, pictures, videos and other data you work with. (We'll also be covering user accounts in a later tutorial). Being able to navigate around these folders is an important skill to master.
so my lil sister brought her laptop (win 7 home premium) over last night saying it was broken. As it turns out windows does not load and it will not do so even in safe mode.
So i decided i would recover the laptop, but first wanted to get her data off the HDD. I have the HDD out and can get everything off of it, except her personal folder where all her documents are stored.
Is there any way for me to gain access to this folder or will i have to run HDD file recovery software to get the data off?
I have lost all my personal documents from my desktop, if i search for folders or documents that i remember were there i can get to some of them, how can i restore these
I frequently backup files for other users and start w/ a new clean OS. I tried looking for some articles online, but none were really informative for me - wasn't what I was looking for.
I was wondering if I could get some help here. Doesn't really matter the OS, mostly XP, Vista, or even Windows 7, but I guess the file structure btw. Vista and Windows 7 arn't really much diff.
So my laptop's motherboard fried, and so I ended up creating a new desktop. I also got a usb enclosure for the old HDD, and managed to get most of the data off- with the exception of anything in my personal user folder- which includes documents, desktop files, and the download folder. I have the old Username/password for my old windows account but I have no idea how to retrieve it, as it keeps denying me access.
I am having a weird issue.I have a network with 3 PC's and 2 PS3's.1. My PC-Win 72. Roommate's-Vista Home Premium 3. His girlfriend's- Vista Home PremiumI have enabled sharing on all the external HDD's that are connected to my Win 7 machine.ll sharing and security has been set accordingly, and works perfect......except for some reason, my USER folder "Jay", is completely visible to both Vista machines.hen I access the Network folder on my Win 7 machine, only the Public folders are visible on the two Vista machines. The strange thing is that when I look at the properties of "Jay" folder, it shows it as being shared, yet in the Advanced sharing window, "Jay" is NOT shared. "users" folder is shared, so I am assuming this is why "Jay" is shared as it is a sub-folder of "users".
And when I look at the permission settings for "Jay", only myself and SYSTEM had permissions. Now, I managed to workaround this by adding another permission rule to the "Jay" folder. I added NETWORK and set it to DENY straight across the board. So now, my roommates can still see my USERS folder, but cannot access it.This, however, is NOT ideal, as this also blocks them from seeing/accessing my PUBLIC folder. I only set the NETWORK deny permissions on "Jay" folder, yet ALL network sub-folders of USERS are blocked.
My friend is running a website through some free host. Well, I want to do it for her on my own server. I have a old Gateway and Dell laying around so I want to do it on one of there. Anyone know of any good "guides for dummies". I also ran acrross this (Host a Website - IIS7.5[2]=Networking%20Internet) and said that I would need to "register a DNS Host from here for free".
