Error 1402 Could Not Open Key: UNKNOWN

When trying to downgrade to Quicken 2011 from Quicken 2012, the install of Q2011 forced an uninstall of Q2012. The install of Q2011 resulted in a 1402 error as follows: "could not open key: UNKNOWNcomponents9BEDFD61F780CD4ABC6F9CD0D07A42E1A545EF5512D612419987E3B C9D9C11C. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact support personnel."Microsoft tech has completed sfc /scannow but could not fix the problem. Quicken techs blame Microsoft.other than reinstall Windows 7, how to fix this error message.

Diskeeper company tech guy was trying to help me download DK 12. Even though he was a highly qualified tech person, he could not get me past the 1402 error as we tried to install. I am still waiting for him to get back to me after researching the problem (about 10 days now). We went through the regedit process down to the "defrag path." We tried to change permissions in different approaches. Never succeeded.

I just bought a amd phenom ii x4 955 and a asus m4a88tm le motherboard . After that i formated my hdd and installed win 7 ultimate and amd motherboard drivers. Now when i connect a usb device it shows Unknown usb device (except my mouse and keyboard).

New Machine, new HDD, new Win7Ult install...
Windows Update is failing for some reason (I was successfully able to install 2 updates, but all of the others fail)
I am getting an "unknown error" 80070308, and while there seems to be one other reference to this on a MSFT forum, the solutions there were basically restart the update service, which doesn't work, or rename some of the Windows files... which I did as well to no avail.
Does anyone know what this error is? Or had it before?

Shortcut Icons just show the >unknown< icon.I have tried to:
1. reboot in safe mode
2. move the shortut folder in and out
3. closed Explorer.exe and reopen it.
4. the last thing i've tried was to use the system restore as many say htat would help the problem. but when i want's to run system Restore it comes with the fatal error "0x80090067", so i cannot restore. WTF.

I am currently getting this error message when I try to access certain page, Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.Now I have been searching google for the answer and had no luck. Few days ago I have been able to access the page but all of a sudden I am getting this error code. I am using Chrome with windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

While installing windows 8 i ran into an error. It said that this disk is mbr and is needed to be converted to gpt. So I tried formatting it and it saidWe couldn't create a new partition error:0xc983c160] <- googled it and no results at all.I went to cmd and tried to convert mbr to gpt manually.Gave me: Virtual drive error:This specific drive cannot be converted. Example: dvds and cds cannot be converted It is not a virtual machine,it is the real hdd.

So when ever I get an update notice to update Internet explorer 9 and I try updating it, it always cancel because of some weird error that windows cant troubleshoot. I try downloading it from the Microsoft website, and it doesn't install. It says it does but I still end up with ie7. I know tootle chrome is 100x better but I have it and I think upgrading it will boost my system performance a bit.

When I was booting one day last week I got a nasty BSOD when Windows was trying to load. Then on the next reboot Windows 7 said it couldn't load and needed to do the recovery OS option from the Windows 7 repair on the CD. Well, before trying that I did a cold reboot and it got back into the OS fine so I didn't think much of it. Now, I noticed Ghost shows the C: drive status as "Unavailable" and it can't back it up anymore. It does give me an option to restore from one of my old backups. I'm thinking the MBR got hosed up somehow or something like that. But I'm skeptical to run an MBR repair since I have that 100MB partition on my SSD where my OS resides.
Ghost Shot> This was about a week ago my Windows 7 started acting up right before the big patch Tuesday. I've been running it for over a year now and it's been solid. When I first set it up I installed it on my SSD (Intel 510 120GB) drive. One of the qualms I had with the install is Windows created a separate boot sector on the disk drive where it stored my boot files. This is known the the "system reserved" operating system files 100MB partition. Apparently the way to avoid this is to use a third party partition tool before doing the windows install. That way it will keep the Boot sector files on the same partition which is how I would of liked it for doing restores from Ghost 15,etc. Anyway, ghost was backing up my system C: drive before last week. I have yet to even try and use Ghost to see if it would successfully restore my OS but I've been using it to backup my C: drive anyways. Prior to last week it could backup my C: drive fine. I might try a Ghost restore point from a few weeks back before this happened but not sure yet[CODE]

I cannot provide a BSOD error code/info because there was none generated; there was no BSOD. What happened was that I had a few applications open. MSN, Firefox, Opera, and Songbird are what I normally have open, and they never caused a problem before. Then I had Google Chrome open, which I do at times with no side effects, and was playing Angry Birds. The link I used to play is this one: Angry Birds Chrome, then after about an hour playing, the computer suddenly went into sleep mode. It refused to wake up. I had to force reboot it. It was able to load up just fine after that. I looked in the event logs and found nothing to determine the cause of the sudden sleep mode.
The only thing I did different is playing Angry Birds. I don't know if it being in HD had anything to do with it, or if Google Chrome just experienced a glitch that affected the entire system somehow, though I don't know the odds of that. Another thought I had was the problem was due to a storm outside. It was raining and thundering outside. A friend of mine suggested the issue may have been due to a partial power loss that was enough to knock the computer into sleep mode, but not strong enough to cause a full on power outage.

Yea, said my pc was troubled... a very clean cut gentleman he was, plain blue suit with a little name tag in the upper left hand corner i believe his agent code name was

tdll.dll He gave me the option of taking a dose of Startup Repair, which he recommended, or to just try things normally and maybe it would work. I chose to take the dose.
It was scary at first i admit... at first i was told that this could take up to an hour to fix and take affect, even restarting my system a few times possibly.
All in all to my delightment, the dose took less than a minute to take affect and fix my blues...... well, so far atleast

I am experiencing a problem with Windows 7 professional, 32 bit, where I am getting an error message (detailed below) when trying to open a file with an unregistered extension. For example, if I rename a file that ends in .txt and contains text, to something with a .test extension the "Open with..." dialog never appears, and I instead get the permission denied message. AVG premium is installed, however through a combination of disabling AVG as well as providing exceptions to the file extension, I can fairly safely rule out intervention from AVG. Windows Defender is disabled, Windows UAC is disabled as well. The Windows Firewall is on, but checking the settings for the firewall suggest no issues would be coming from there.To add to the fire, if I register the .test extension to open with notepad, the file will open fine and text is displayed as expected. Also of note, I can read the file from command prompt even when the extension is not registered to an application.

at work we use a public calendar in Outlook 2010 that is used to book the conference room. Today multiple users (XP and Win 7) are getting this error when they try to book the conference room. The operation failed. The messaging interfaces have returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.Restarting Outlook has not helped. So far this is only happening in the public calendar.

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I have done a system backup of my portable and restored it to a larger hard disk. Everything is working OK except for Windows Update. When I try to run Windows Update I get a task isn't running message - Unknown Error 8024A000. I have replaced the old hard disk and Windows Update works just fine.

I really apologize for the vague title, all I can say about these BSOD's are that they've occurred with increasing frequently over the past week, and are seemly random. I have noticed that they happen more often whenever Shockwave crashes in Chrome and does not recover. I've also noticed that I get a BSOD whenever I attempt a full scan using Spyware Doctor. Otherwise, these BSOD's really just happen wherever, whenever.

I downloaded a somewhat large file (around 350 MB) and went to open the .exe file.However, once the extract window bar finished running left to right, I got a popup error message saying "Not enough storage is available to process this command."I have plenty of storage space on the computer (~50 GB), so I don't know what the issue is. i have a asus x5dij laptop its just over a year old so is out of warrenty.i've been wanting to scrub it for a while as i think i had a few viruses on it.at first i realised that the dvd drive was not working (this is twice the dvd drive has gone since i bought it new) so instead of buying a replacement drive for it i decided to buy an usb exsternal dvd drive.i hooked up new exsternal dvd drive & placed 64 bit recovery disc in rebooted it & i get "windows is loading files" with the white line going across underneath.then it asks me to select display language then warns all files & data will be lost & if i want drive partitioned options then click to start recovery process.then when i do click to start recovery process after a few seconds i get a white screen with error in big red text & in top left corner "cannot open wim file".can any 1 give me advise as what i should do now,the only thing i can think of is to replace the laptops dvd drive but i'm thinking if i do that will i get the same error message.

I have tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate on to my Asus F7Se but keep getting the above error.
I have deleted my d: partition so now I only have c: and a recovery partition. I have tried to do the upgrade option and the custom one but always get this message when it is trying to boot up.
I have searched everywhere for a fix and found a few posts but none have worked so far.
Do anyone have any pointers so I can get it installed ? If anyone needs more information please let me know.

When i dial up, i get some Error Message 633 message about COM port being used by other application or modem not configured properly.
In device manager the modem seems OK, and i dont know of any other device using a COM port. I've tried different drivers, swapping the modem around inside the case but no joy and i'm getting really annoyed now.

I have a HP G61 - 336NR Notebook and a Belkin wireless router. I keep getting DNS errors every single day. And its nonstop I have to sit here and refresh google like 10x just to connect to it. I have set my DNS manually to Open DNS and still no luck I've called my ISP and my Router company and still nothing. Sigh my laptop isn't the only one that can do it. I've done various restarts/factory restores and still doesn't work..
