My laptop has been working fine for two or three months now, until today when I restarted it and suddenly could no longer use my USB mouse. Then I realized I had no WiFi signal, so I plugged into ethernet, and still had no internet connection. Most of my drivers seem to be broken, with my laptop functioning only as it would after freshly installing Windows, before actually installing any drivers.I managed to eventually find a way to install the WiFi drivers, and then the rest of the missing drivers, and restarted my computer to make sure everything was fine. The exact same thing happened again. Any idea what is wrong and how I can fix it without doing a fresh install? I don't currently have access to my backup drives so I'd lose a lot of stuff if I had to reinstall Windows.
Usually I can resolve most issues myself but this one appears to have stumped me so I am graciously turning to you in my time of need.I am unable to boot Windows 7 on my Acer Ferrari One F0200 netbook. It has Windows 7 home premium 64-bit installed but due to an unknown problem or possibly persistent virus I have been unable to boot into windows.
below is a list of things i've tried up til now:
Tried to boot in all safe mode options (failed) Tried to boot from last known good configuration(failed) Tried to system restore from all available restore points (failed) Tried multiple Startup Repairs(all failed)
"Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically"

while writing this I managed to get a blue screen message(disabled the option to automatically restart on system failure) which had been flashing for a nano second previously.A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. it says to check for viruses on your computer remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run chkdsk /f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.I had already ran the chkdsk /f before I saw this message and no files were corrupted/no bad sectors. So this is where I'm at, at my wits end hoping that I dont lose all my data.
I recently built a new rig and I had a problem with one stick of memory. The other stick worked alright, but I've been getting random failures. Can bad memory be inconsistent? Right now, I can't start my OS up at all. It goes straight to the Windows Repair Launcher, which fails. When it gets there, I can either find a restore point or let it 'attempt to fix' for as long as I can endure. The restore point option results in 'instruction xxx failed. memory reference xxx failed.'This leads me to believe there is a problem with the memory. But, could it be the motherboard? I played a video game for hours last night, as well as surfed the web and ran other applications. Everything was fine, until I shut down. This isn't the first time this happened. Last time, I 'fixed' it by switching the 'good' memory stick with the bad. The bad resulted in getting the OS up, but lots of BSOD's
I tried to update to the new 310.70 whql driver and when i try to install it the installation fails. i tried to use an outdated driver and that failed to install. win 7 64 bit, asus gtx 680 dc2, asus p8z77-v
My laptop is Acer with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS. It contain only 1 single partition disk that is c drive only.Recently, i accidentally convert the c drive which contain OS into dynamic disk. After i restart the laptop, it shows the following: BootMgr is missing Please press Alt, Ctrl +del to restart Now, i not able to enter the window. I am so worry because my important data is kept inside the hard disk, and i still not yet do any back up copy on it.I searching on this forum and learnt that i need a window 7 installation disk to repair it, but my problem is the computer dealer not give me any windows 7 installation disk when i baught this laptop as their said all the driver and windows program already kept in side the harddisk.I tried to remove the laptop hardisk which is a 500GB toshiba SATA hardisk. Then, i use the other laptop with Windows XP professional with the intention to copy yhe file inside the toshiba hard disk. However, after plugged in the hard disk to the other laptop, under the disk management, it shows that the toshiba disk as : dynamic disk, unreadable.i having problem to backup the data inside the toshiba hard disk.....
Since early August all my Security updates have been failing. It adds time to each boot up period as it goes through the updates and then at the end will say it's failed and is reverting all the changes. I have already done some research on this issue and ran "sfc/scannow" as well as "chkdsk/f/r." Both seemed to go through with no problems. After that I did a Windows update and 12 updates seemed to go through with no problem until the required reboot where we're back to the same issue of failing and reverting.
After rebooting my system, it recommended that i do a start up repair. After the repair completed i recieved the black screen right before choosing USER , so i tried 3x more to repair which each completed but same outcome till the point it just says cant repair automatically . Then i tried to system restore which failed also , but the catch is my system boots fine from Safe Mode..what to do from Safe Mode to return my boot up back to normal?
It first happened while I was playing Diablo III. The colors on the screen went crazy then Diablo froze and the screen started flashing which eventually lead to a crash and a blue screen. After the reboot windows started and automatically ran the cmd prompt with winSAT trying to diagnose something? It would go through the process and it seemed like it was just looping over and over with no solution. I closed the cmd prompt and it crashed shortly after, with the same errors.

On the next reboot I then ran in safe mode and did a system restore hoping it would clear up. It did not. After the restore it did the same thing and eventually crashed again. Here I have both the dump files from the incidents (it only recorded two of them). I have googled and read up a lot on similar errors and it seems to be either a hardware issue or a driver problem. I am downloading drivers right now and will see what happens, but I am doubtful. Also when the blue screen came up, it said something about the "nvlddmkm.sys" file, but I don't recall what it said. It was too fast for me to catch it all.
Ok so I recently moved from vista to windows 7 and everything is great except that about 40% of the time when I restart my computer, the mousepad and video card drivers don't load up. The mousepad stops responding and the resolution goes to 800x600. When I look in device manager those two drivers say they failed to initialize and need a restart, I will post the exact error messages soon. Then when I restart everything runs fine. But this consistently happens, I believe it happens everytime I install something new and then restart. I can't figure out how to stop this from happening, anyone know what to do?
i'm having problem when opening inbox from my ymail .this message come out "an add on for this website fail tO run.check the security setting in internet option for potential conflicts".
I've got a new BenQ G2420HD series LCD monitor and an HD enabled, windows seven ultimate, 64bit pc. However, when I connect my monitor to my PC using HDMI, my PC detects it (I've checked with a second monitor), it knows the name of it and can change the resolution etc. quite happily but no display shows on the monitor. The monitor just says 'no cables connected'. It works fine if I connect it with a DVI cable (haven't bothered trying VGA) but I want HD!
I just recently bought an Acer Aspire 5532 from a friend of mine. Everything was working fine for days, until I powered down using the power button rather than the shut down button on-screen. Ever since then, when I turn on the computer it reads "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause." I have the options to either 1. launch startup repair (which freezes the computer) or 2. Start windows normally (which takes me back to the start). I have no installation disk, I've tried safe mode (freezes) along with last good configuration?
Everytime I try to update my BIOS on my laptop I get this error: BIOS update failed!New Bios is not compatible with the current system BIOS. New BIOS part number doesn't match system BIOS part number. Error Code: -120See the for troubleshooting
I recently downloaded and installed a set of Windows Updates that came out on 4/26. I had about 8 of them. 4 of them installed successfully but 4 of them were downloaded and installed(on shutdown) but fail to configure on startup. The four I'm having issues with are:
KB2492386 KB2515325 KB2522422 KB982018
Each of these are updates for Windows 64-bit. I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with these as well. I plan on waiting a day or two and try again. I've tried twice today with no success. For future reference, what can cause an update to fail to configure?
Our laptop prompted a download and installation of SP1 Win7 and we pressed ok. The installation became stuck and warned do not shut down computer but it stayed in this state for over four hours. We had to "hard" boot the computer and on reboot it tried to install the new update. The system became stuck on " Fatal error C0000034 applying update operation 236 of 80331 (_000000...) " Then we started normally but the system identifies improper shutdown and runs system recovery (Lenovo) We choose "go to system recovery point" and after some time the system reboots and goes back to " Fatal error C0000034 applying update operation 236 of 80331 (_000000...).
I had a new external HDD WD My Book Essential USB 3.0 (2TB) 6 month ago. All was good until two days ago. I rebooted my computer and I won't boot up. After disconnecting WD HDD it work perfectly But after I turned my PC off, and tried to turn it on, again it won't boot up with the HDD connected AND some weird ticking noise started in HDD itself. I sounds like it's trying to boot but failing and trying again. So I disconnected, boot up the system and then plugged it in. Nothing Not in explorer, not in disk management not in Acronis program, nothing.I rebooted and it showed and Local Disk R, but I can't even start disk management or open it with explorer, or even open any program to be able to see/fix it. In the end, HDD wasn't even turning on.So the next day I called tech support of WD. They told me standard stuff, like "Disconnect, Reconnect Try another port, etc ". Nothing. By warranty they can replace it, BUT I don't care about the drive itself, I need data. In this case they can't help me. All they told me is to contact special company for that, and it's gonna cost me up to 1000$.After that call, I noticed a burning smell from HDD. It was connected to power and USB. I disconnected and I opened the case of my HDD. SATA HDD itself seams to be fine, but the connection board (with USB and power) burned. So, I connected directly via SATA to my PC. And that's when the fun starts: BIOS did not recognized it. I switched the SATA port. BIOS showed the model and everything but it gives me "Ultra DMA Mode-5 S.M.A.R.T Capable but Command Failed." Reboot. In different software... NOTHING. Reboot again: and again "Ultra DMA Mode-5 S.M.A.R.T Capable but Command Failed". Reboot. S.M.A.R.T. Command Failed... Reboot 5 times, all good. Started LiveBoot CD by Wondershare. It found my HDD and UNKNOWN. Was trying to recover data from it, program freeze. Reboot again. Was trying to fix mbr with Win 7 Boot Cd, nothing cuz it can't see were to fix mbr. Reboot. Started HDAT2. Nothing. Reboot 10 times, and HDAT2 finally can see my HDD. Before I start any test I shows me read error from UNKNOWN DEVICE. Started "hdat2 most powerful test". Nothing. No errors was found. O_o. Also I try Read MBR with the same HDAT2. Everything 0/0/0/0. So what else I can possibly try?? Oh yeah, when I connected my HDD via SATA, that "boot or not to boot" sound was still there.
Yesterday i was listening music and my Windows Ultimate 32bit crashed, music started lagging. Then i restarted my computer and hes won't load the windows. Tryied do 3 times system restore but nothing helped. Tryied to install windows xp and then windows 7 again, but then i installed winXP i don't have internet connection, don't know why. then tryied install windows 7 but it's fails at middle of Completing installation progress then computer restart and i get hieroglif in the screen (picture above) and nothing happens. And then my computer is loading always in hieroglif. Maybe it's BIOS crashed?
I'll try to make sense of this to you. My computer has been working great until last night. Today, it bricked on me.Last night and until a out noon today, I was seeing occasional corruption of the image on screen (strange blocking/pixellation like a bad hd tv picture). I started getting locking-up freezes, which I could sort of unfreeze with ctrl-alt-del. This happened frequently while browsing the net las night (oddly games worked fine).Today at one point the whole image started flickering/fluctuating up and down and then the image scrambled totally and was locked-up, so I hard reset.Upon restart, bootup fails. Chkdsk, memory scan (from startup repAir and the installation disk), image and system recovery fail. When I read the detailed results from start up recovery, it tells me that no drive is present. So, did the drive fail, or maybe it came unplugged inside the tower (unlikely bc the tower hasnt moved). Or, did intel smart response technology screw up and the cache is screwed and it's messing up the primary drive it accelerates? Windows 7 64-bit OS on z68 mobo with 64gb SSd accelerating 500gb primary.
After reboot I get BSOD with 0x0000003B; 0xC0000000C0000005; 0xFFFFF8801893FA1; 0x0000000000000000; and TCPIP errors. Using system retore in safe mode has broken Net Framework 2 with error message unable to load sorttbls.nip or one of its dependancies. ATI Catalyst Control Centre and windows troubleshooter no longer work.
I'm working with an Acer 9920 Laptop, with win 7 u installed. Until quite recently everything worked well. But now I have problems. For instance I want to install some software by doubleclicking on the msi file I see in Windows Explorer. After entering Admin credentials I get a message that the file I'm just seeing in WE cannot be found.Similarly, when I want to edit extended system properties, C: Windows system 32systempropertiesadvanced.exe cannot be found.Something apparently related is that when I want to start Eclipse which is a Java app the system fails telling me that no client JVM at xxx can be found. When I log in as an admin everything seems to work right.
Recently I just tried starting my computer on and it wouldn't boot. I left my computer in locked mode then it eventually went to sleep. I kept trying to restart it and had no luck, I checked inside the cpu was running and the dvd drive was still able to open and close. My USB mouse or keyboard weren't powering on though neither was my monitor showing anything I didn't hear any beeps. So I kept disconnecting the power outlet from the wall since that's the only way I could restart it.

For some reason the network from point A to B keeps failing. Going to explain the set up I have right now. DSL and modem are in room 1 then that plugs into the wall to the switch in room 2. Many things are connected to the switch, roku player, dish network receiver and other Ethernet connections for other rooms and a router so we can get wifi. Now for some reason the connection from the switch to the modem keeps going out. The internet works just fine because i can plug the ethernet cable from the modem directly to a computer in the office. However from a computer in another room I cannot cmd ping the modem says 0%. What would cause this to fail, it works for hours then i have to unplug/re-plug the cables to get it working again.
I have a new desktop touchscreen, sony. It has windows home premium installed. However, in the course of trying customization of my new computer, I can't get FULL ADMINISTRATOR privileges. the only way I know is when I try to use my spybot search&destroy shredding program, it says I don't have administrator privileges. I have searched, retried settings, and just when I thought I had the settings right--- I get a message: "you need administrator privileges for access.
I tried Win 8 but had problems with Flight Simulator so returned to Win 7. Since doing a clean re-install of 7 I've had issues with programs failing to start for one reason or another. Live Mail for example will run fine for a few days and then suddenly will not run giving the message "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running......etc"
I wanted to setup a VPC starting with an image of my laptop but I'm having great difficultly, I'm running Windows 7 home premium x64.I started by using Acronis true image to take an image of my PC (a .tib). I then used Acronis true image to convert that to a vhd, however when trying to create a VPC using the vhd got a message that the vhd could not be attached. After some research I found that it was because the partition I imaged was 320GB and Windows Virtual PC could not handle it. Using diskpart I reduced the vhd partition size then using Vhd resizer to reduce the size. I was able to attach the vhd and start the virtual machine but received a message from Windows Boot Manager "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible", so I inserted the Windows home premium x64 DVD into the dvd drive but the virtual machine would not boot from it.
I could not do anything so I decided to start a new virtual machine and try and install windows from scratch. I created a fixed sized vhd using Windows Virtual PC, I inserted the Windows DVD into the drive and booted the virtual machine. This time virtual PC would allow me to boot from the DVD drive however I receive an error "Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode" but this is the version of Windows I am running on my PC.I have also downloaded Securable to ensure that Windows Virtual PC will work I get a maximum bit length of 64 and Yes for both hardware D.E.P and Hardware Virtualization.
When booting upduring POST, I get a "floppy drive fail (40)" error code. I have to use F1 to get to the desk top. I do not have a floppy drive! I have replaced the cmos battery on the mother board. When I access floppy drive in the removable device priority menu, click, nothing! I get no sub-menu to disable it.
So what happened was yesterday AVG detected a virus on my computer and asked if I wanted to get rid of it. I clicked remove or whatever it was and forgot about it. However, every 2-3 minutes it mentioned another virus needed removal on my computer. I ran a scan twice and said it was clean.
So I thought about trying to use a different antivirus program. I downloaded MSE and ran a scan. It detected some kind of trojan virus so I removed it and was glad thinking that this was the hidden problem. MSE told me to restart the computer to finish the clean up or whatnot, so I restarted the computer.
However, now when my computer is loading, I'll reach the first Windows 7 screen showing the symbol, then my computer will automatically restart. As if I clicked the reset button. I tried using the startup repair but it could not fix the problem. I also tried the restore windows at a earlier point, but the computer still faills to reach the desktop. I read somewhere that I should try to access the desktop in safemode, but the same "reset" problem occurs when I try to make it to safemode.
Please if anyone could help me fix this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I did not delete AVG so I had 2 antivirus programs (AVG and MSE), and someone told me that could be the problem and to delete 1 of the antivirus programs, but I cant even get to the desktop to do so. I have windows 7 64-bit. Prior to this, the computer was working fine. I was thinking of reformatting the computer but I rather not lose everything I have on the computer unless its the only option left.
