after a complete fresh install of windows 7 (the computer will be completely blank excluding the OS) what components (GPU, CPU, Motherboard, etc.) will require drivers to function properly and where would I acquire these drivers? Also are there any tips or things I should be aware about when restoring my PC?

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes windows 7 OEM require an OPK or do you just install it like a normal full retail version? I have looked for similar threads and all of them are from 2010 or earlier. I was wondering if any of it has changed or you can still just install it without having to worry about the OPK.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy current motherboard is a socket 775 G41 chipset with 2 x DIMM slots for DDR2 RAM. I currently have 2 x 2GB Kingston RAM in them, but need to increase RAM to 8GB.However 2 x 4GB DDR2 is so ridiculously expensive it is not economically viable to do this.Around 175 for branded RAM or 100 for unbranded stuff that might be dodgy. So I am thinking of getting a motherboard that runs DDR3 RAM, then I can put in 8GB of cheaper DDR3 RAM and even with a new Mobo I am still better off, even using branded RAM.16GB would be nice but I don't think socket 775 mobos exist that support that much.I am keeping the same CPU (Core 2 Quad Q8300) and everything else.Running Windows 7 64 bit. My question is will I need to reinstall Windows? in fact I probably wouldn't bother if that was the case.

2. what kind of proof does it require? does it just ask you for an XP/vista serial during the install?
I am trying to move a .dll file from one of my folders in Downloads to Program Files (x86)/some_folder, but it keeps showing "you require permission from my_machine/Owner to make changes to this file", so I can't finish the job; I tried take owner ship of the dll file, but it didn't work.
Here is what I tried: First of all, I changed the own ship of the .dll file located in Download folder to my_machine/Owner(full control), and then i changed the own ship of program files(x86)/destination folder to my_machine/Owner(full control) as well; then tried to move the dll file to the destination, failed. Then I turned off the UAC, tried but failed again. The error msg is still "you require permission from my_machine/Owner to make changes to this file".

The weird thing is that I have a perfect internet connection. So, basically, how can I renew my IP address? I have Comcast internet and a Belkin Router, all which seem to be working fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having this exact same issue on my Lenovo E520. In the Advanced User Accounts - the box to check to "require users to press ctrl-alt-del" is greyed out. In the Local Security Policy I have disabled the Interactive Login. With these changes made the computer will require the Ctrl-Alt-Del during the first reboot but will revert to the factory settings upon subsequential reboots. I believe it is caused by the fingerprint scanner software or drivers but the uninstall option is not available in the Delete Programs utility. Also I am leary on removing these as I don't want to cause conflicts with the other Lenovo factory installed software.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 32 bit and I just noticed that all my drivers for the USB controllers, Audio/Sound devices and the Networking internet (Broadcom Netxtreme Drivers) have all died. They indicate that a Code 39 is the problem. I tried to load some of the drivers but it wouldn't allow them to install. I did a last known configuration attempt, no results. Did a system restore and it gave me an error message saying it didn't restore properly. I am trying to get the drivers online, burn them to a disk and load them. I have no internet access on that PC and the USB ports obviously don't work. I can get drivers on this PC online. Some I can't find. I did the uninstall driver, disable, all the usual for this problem. I am stumped. Any recovery attempts produce nil results. Thanks to Microsoft, I have no installation disc to do a new install or a backup image.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with RAID0 array being detected by Windows7 Ultimate x64 as SCSI. Apparently these drivers are the 'default' drivers that install when the RAID array is initialized. There is no option at this point to install other drivers instead.Using DeviceManager, there is an option to 'update drivers', and regardless of the method chosen, even selecting the file for a previously-downloaded set of drivers, Windows7 always comes back with a message of "Windows has determined that the best drivers for your system are already installed". Considering that SCSI drivers are the OLDEST ones out there, and actual SCSI devices are becoming rarer and rarer, how is it that these drivers cannot be replaced with more current and more applicable drivers?
