i cant modify the tokens folder i even tried logging in as the system administrator is there a way?it tells me "you require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder"

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move a .dll file from one of my folders in Downloads to Program Files (x86)/some_folder, but it keeps showing "you require permission from my_machine/Owner to make changes to this file", so I can't finish the job; I tried take owner ship of the dll file, but it didn't work.
Here is what I tried: First of all, I changed the own ship of the .dll file located in Download folder to my_machine/Owner(full control), and then i changed the own ship of program files(x86)/destination folder to my_machine/Owner(full control) as well; then tried to move the dll file to the destination, failed. Then I turned off the UAC, tried but failed again. The error msg is still "you require permission from my_machine/Owner to make changes to this file".
I'm trying to move some files from my old (soon to be retired) XP Pc to my new Win 7 PC but am having problems?I am the only user on both machines and after checking user accounts on both machines I am described as Administrator. On the Win 7 machine I have UAC set at "Never Notify".I tried to map the C: drive on the Win 7 PC as drive Z: on the XP machine (I can see the Win 7 drive on the win XP Machine ). but it says "access is denied" When I do it the other way around I can map the Win XP drive on the Win 7 machine with no problems, but there are some files it won't let me copy over. Changed the permissions. Nothing. I even managed to get the lock off of the folder but it still wont delete. I restarted my computer, downladed LockHunter and a couple other programs.

I tried messing aroudn with Homegroup but i turned it off and now i cannot do anything with my documents, i get the error "You require permissions from MYLAPTOP/TomHart etcetc..." but that user (as far as i know) is me.1) How can i find out if thats my account or if for some reason mines changed/my documents owner has changed2) Anyone know how i could fix this?I tried using CMD running as admin and used TAKEOWN on the file but i still get the same error
View 3 Replies View RelatedA wire came loose in my laptop charger so I asked for a replacement, but the supplier was adamant that there was something wrong with the port in my laptop, not the charger (he was wrong), so they took it away to fix. Anyway, a member of their staff took my hard drive out to copy a couple of my files to a disk for me as I needed them asap and couldn't get my laptop charging. Apparently that's all they did.Today I got my laptop back and things are not right. I am the administrator and there are no other user accounts on my computer. I am recognised as the administrator when I go on Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsUser Accounts. But now all of a sudden I can't access Music, Pictures, Videos or Documents from the start menu. It just does nothing and says nothing when I click on them. I went on 'Computer' and tried to access them from the 'Libraries' menu at the left side. It didn't let me and didn't come up with any error message. It also didn't let me see the properties of them or do any of the other right-click options. It was saying at the bottom that they were completely empty, so I just deleted them and thought I'd make new ones with the 'Create Library' option. But when I go on this it says "Unable to create the file 'New Library.library-ms' Access is denied". I tried to restore the four Libraries from my recycle bin. It came up with a message saying "You'll need to provide administrator permission to move this folder". I clicked on continue, then a box popped up saying "Destination Folder Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action". Permission off who?! It's MY computer!
When I located my files the long way (Computer - Windows (C:) - Users ... etc.), all my documents were read-only and had a padlock on their icons, so I changed that. It won't let me view my pictures (says I don't have the correct permissions to access the file location). I can copy and paste the pictures so that it will let me view the copies, but it says things like "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy this file" for everything I try to do. It gives me the option to continue, but it's annoying me because I have to keep giving permission for things that it should just let me do.
Is it big and if it is can i save it on a 16gb usb flash drive?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to delete this program from the program files and program files(x86) folderes, I get a message that I need permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes. So I went into the properties and changed the sharing settings, to share with myself of course. I have only been able to give myself permissions in one of the folders. After doing this, it lets me begin deleting. It begins going through several screens informing that it is a shared folder, that deleting it will affect other users but it eventually comes back to the message that I need permission to get rid of something on myown computer!

Now all the files appear in a folder named ".Trash-0" and now when I try to delete the folder it says "You need permission from trusted installer to make changes to this file". I tried deleting the folders using another Linux distro but the folder is nowhere to be found when I boot using a Linux distro. I guess this is happening because Windows doesn't let you delete windows installation files even if they do not belong to the current installation. Is there a work around for this?

It has no value and is completely usless but when I delete it it says I need permission from turbow5 to delete this. But I am turbow5. I am the admin and the only user on this comp. So I look into the permission thing and system, turbow5, and admin all have full permission of this file. Why can't I delete this folder?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom somewhere, somehow, a folder named "24cd9e4542d29590bce925ec30" has been created in my W7x86pro root dir. Trying to look inside, I had to "permanently get access". But then inside it, there are a whole lot of folders named things like 1025, 1028, 1029, etc, ending with 3076, and 3082. What's in those folders, I have no idea, since every time I try to open one, I first get the "You don't currently have permission to access this folder" dialog, and then when I click Continue, I get "You have been denied permission to access this folder".
Also inside the "24cd9e4542d29590bce925ec30" folder, there are files, like "Setup.exe" and "NDP40-KB2473228.msp" and "SetupEngine.dll" and some *.bmp and some other files. I guess that NDP40-KB2473228.msp gives away that this folder has something to do with some .NET framework update, but AFAIK, there's no .NET-anything installed on this computer. I want to remove the "24cd9e4542d29590bce925ec30" folder, but there seems to be no way I can get permission to do that. trying to get ownership or set access rights, all I get is "Access denied" or similar.

I have few computer at home with different Windows version, there are Windows XP, Windows Vista HP 32 bit and Windows 7 HP 64 bit. I have two share folder in the desktop using Windows Vista HP 32 bit, Share A is set to Full Control for Everyone and Share B has a permission access setting, allow few persons to access only. All computer can access Share A without problem. However, there is a problem with Share B. I only allow 3 users to access this share folder, 2 of them using laptop with Windows XP Home and Professional, they can access Share B without problem, the 3rd user using laptop with Windows 7 HP 64 bit (username is Jolene) can't access Share B, it shown "You have no permission to access...". I already double check the user name and password, there are correct. I try to login to the network using Jolene in other laptop with Windows XP, it can access both Share A and B. That means the username and the permission setting are correct in the Windows Vista desktop. I removed the anti virus in Windows 7 HP laptop, disable Windows firewall, or bootup in Safe mode with network support, but still can't access Share B.

I want to make a recovery disc to reset my entire 4 partition dual boot hard drive back to its current state. the recovery would reset both xp and win 7 which i have dual booting. can i make one single image to do this without it screwing up my boot loaders etc? what should i use? 3rd party software?
