I bought a Crystal USB headset yesterday, it came with no directions, no disc, no drivers, there's not even a website listed. When I plugged it in Win 7 detected it as USB speakers. Even at 1% volume it is LOUD, I had to wear my earphones on my cheeks! I tried playing with the volume mixer, but even setting other applications at 1 didn't work. Those programs (games, etc) that had additional volume control inside the application were able to turn the volume down enough to use, but any additional sounds (system sounds, etc). Is there an additional USB driver I haven't found for Windows 7? or is there a way to force the OS to recognize the USB as a headset instead of speakers?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried to reformat my dads hard drive to reinstall windows 7. It was in 2 partitions, so I ran the windows 7 disc and it ran through the motions, I formatted the c to re-install windows and it wouldn't let me. I went into dos under diskpart to try and format it that way, still no luck. I connected it to my computer then under disk management deleted the 2 partitions so there was only 1 now which had the size i.e, 600GB Unallocated. I connected it back into my dads computer and ran the set-up again. Now the computer wont even detect the drive. I need to re-format the drive to like factory default, is this possible, also do I have to do it in dos.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer shows Disk Volume Error every time I run system maintenance. I tried Chkdsk, disk cleanup and disk fragmentation, but it did not work. Also, my Local disk C is reporting only 8 GB of free memory. But in realty it has 17 GB free memory. Even I could not extend my disk volume through Disk Management.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 TB Western Digital Caviar Black hard disk. While installing Windows 7, a screen for hard disk partition was asked. I created 4 drives: 200 GB, 200 GB, 200 GB and 400 GB. And then the windows 7 got installed. But now when I log into my PC, I can only see first 3 200 GB drives. Where did my 400 GB drive go? What mistake did I do and how can I recover it back?

The D partition was not touched but now is inaccessible as is my external USB hard drive. Both are NTFS and up until yesterday had no errors or problems. It is a 64 to 32 bit problem or access permissions?

The recovery indicates the both volumes are to be restored, both only the Windows 7 volume is restored.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to start-up the laptop and it got past the manufacturer logo (Compaq) and then showed a blank screen for about 1 minute before saying Windows Is Loading Files and then automatically starting Start-Up Repair which tries to repair disk errors. I leave it for an hour and a bit and it's still completing.
Checked Task Manager (Repair Your Computer> Command Prompt> TASKMGR) and it was just stuck on about 356,761K of memory, so I shut down and got my Hiren Boot CD and tried opening Partition Magic, which had a Partition Table Error #105 and when I went to Format and Create New Partitions, and then Apply All Changes I got Error #4. So finally I tried some other partition manager and I got some partitions made.
I went and got my Build 7077 Windows 7 CD and tried to install, it boots to the DVD, but it detects no hard drives, although when I choose where to boot from in BIOS, it sees my 200GB hard disk fine. I HAVE NO DISK DRIVERS OR ANY CDs!!!!! Same happens with my 64-Bit RTM disk and my Vista disk. Windows XP hangs on "Inspecting 199,920 MB.
My disk drive is not booting, not detected.

Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

Lately I've been receiving "No Disk" errors when I start up my computer. It appears to be "NoBuClient.exe" and "CCC.exe" that result in the "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drivedeviceharddisk6dr6" error during startup. "Dropbox.exe" and "Acrobat.exe" have also been noted to give the same "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drivedeviceharddisk6dr6" upon launch as well.Is there any way to stop the errors from happening?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter dual booting my drive, it was suddenly changed to an offline dynamic disk. My problem is, I can turn it back online, but it gives me the status of "errors" I checked around for the past 12 hours, and everything says the same thing, turn it back online (it is) Reactivate it (That command is grayed out) Use Dynamic disk converter 2.1 (Says offline even though CMD says it is online)
Now, I am a bit frustrated, after 6 hours or so, my entire PC crashed, I did nothing special to cause this but hey it did. When I would boot up it would give "error loading OS" I checked all my drives, they're working PERFECTLY fine so I have no idea what is causing this. After I inserted my Windows 7 CD it seems to boot up fine now. I have two separate drives, one to handle my main OS being Windows 7 and the other to handle all my media which is the one that I cannot access anymore.
After reading dozens of articles I cannot find any solid answer that work for my case.
I am using the Windows 7 disk manager not a third party program, also, I have read all the 'help' from the microsoft website there is to deal with this problem. But nothing seems to work.
To help literate a bit more this is what my Disk Manager looks like:
Disk 0 Primary partition
Basic
38 GB
Online
Disk 1
Dynamic
errors
When right clicked on Disk 1 everything is Grayed out except properties, help, and Offline.
I don't know if any of this information will be of any help, I am trying to literate as much as I possibly can and give any evidence that might help.
Anyways, this entire thing has given me a huge headache and I have a huge term paper due x_x...
My friend's laptop (Acer Aspire One 722 - Windows 7 x64) has been shut down after opening an email and Windows never started up again. When you attempt to start up the windows, it stays the black screen and says "No bootable Device Found"! I inserted Windows Live Disk and loaded it (Windows XP Mini - Golden Edition). When I went to "My Computer", it did not show any local drive. I went to "Disk Management" and in there, there was also no unallocated or allocated space. I even removed the HDD and plugged it back in. No thing happened. Then I removed the RAM card and inserted it back. Again, nothing happened! By the way, HDD had movements when laptop was on (I had removed the beneath panel).I inserted Windows 7 Disk to install a fresh Windows 7. But when you get to the part where it asks you to choose the partition to install the operating Sustem, it shows one unallocated drive with 0 (Zero) capacity! The options to Delete and format are disable. Only the option "New" is active and it gives you (0) bite to partition!

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I started my computer today windows was unable to full start. It got the the colorful welcome screen, and froze. I restarted and it went to chkdsk. So i ran chkdsk because it was highly recommended when I started my computer today. After a good 30 minutes it finally ended and told me a few files were unreadable and a few were deleted, scanned, etc. here is an image to help show what I mean:Afterwards, when I attempted to run Google Chrome, and a few other programs, I obtained an error message at the bottom of the screen, and when i clicked on the balloon, to hopefully get a reason or options on how to fix it, I got nothing and it popped up again, and again, and again. It is not stopping anything, it is not ending a program or closing any; it is just annoying and a little uneasing on my part of keeping this computer running. Here is an image to help express exactly what I see: how I could just turn the alert balloon off, but I would like a complete fix, not just 'duct tape'.Also, I have been getting this whenever i try to 1 uninstall a program and when I try to save an image/file:
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using a Windows 7 PC built by a friend of mine, but starting yesterday, its been acting up. The problem is there used to be two hard drives I can access, Drive B and Drive C. When I boot up the computer, BIOS only detects Drive C (if I'm not mistaken), and Disk Managements as well. I realized this when all the programs whose targets are on that drive are all broken on the desktop. So Drive B doesn't show up anywhere at all.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI was setting up a Win7 new build with an Asus P8B75-V and an SSD. Although I previously have done clean installs with UEFI motherboards and SSDs, this time the install DVD created a GPT volume on the boot disk (much to my surprise and which I discovered opnly after loading all the apps, moving the email, etc, etc.).
Knowing a lot more about basic MBR volumes (and how to fix problems), I would like to convert the GPT to a basic volume. I have Acronis DiskDIrector 11 which can convert the GPT to MBR, but when I tried that, it rendered the disk unbootable. (The conversion resulted in a 124MB unallocated space, followed by a 100MB FAT32 volume (!?!?!), and then the rest of the drive as NTFS.)
Is there a way to convert a boot disk from GPT to basic and have it be bootable? Is there anything that can be done with the converted HD to make it bootable?
I had 2 external hard drives connected and in disk manager I clicked delete on the wrong one? So now the drive wont show up, so I simply created a Simple volume and know it is a RAW drive? How do I recover the files there was over 100GB and some of them are really important such as records and work related stuff, it is currently a RAW partition and all the hard disk recovery softwares dont recognise it because it is a RAW drive? do i have to format it to recover the files?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a new simple volume in 130 GB free disk space. There's no obvious reason why it would refuse to do so - I'm not at the hard limit on number of partitions or anything - but disk management MSC is consistently returning "Not enough space" errors. The only thing I can think of is something to do with the partition order, but if so I have no idea how to fix it non-destructively. I'm in the middle of backups on it, so deleting partitions is a no-go. At the moment I don't understand what's going on.
