Disk For The Games But It Does Not Work
Dec 29, 2012I have a disk for the above games, but it won't work on my new laptop which I think is Windows 8. Can I buy the disk again for Windows 8 anywhere ?

Games Won't Work On Windows 8?
Oct 9, 2012I've tried 3 games so far. Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs doesn't work but Botanicula does. Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs are complaining for missing .dll files but I doubt that Windows 7 optimized .dll files will solve the issue.
The games' setup were run on Windows 7 targeted to an external drive, and I'm trying to use the same drive with the Windows 7 games installed on Windows 8 right now. So do I have to reinstall them on Windows 8?
Note that the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode for the .exe files didn't work.
Will My Games Still Work With Upgrade ?
Oct 25, 2009when I upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (not clean install), will my installed games still work? I just don't really want to go through the hassle of reinstalling 30gb worth of content :P.
This is a separate issue from game compatibility (I have read the list), I just want to know if games will work after an upgrade.
Basically, do games make changes to the registry, or are they simply composed of the files in the installation folder?
No Games Work After Re-install OS
May 5, 2011Im not sure why my orginal thread got deleted, but it probably had something to do with the lines. That I only wanted a good answer and good people.Im having a problem here it is ive reinstalled Windows 7, I have my old program files directory with my games. They are cracked, because im too lazy to use the dvd's and change them all the time. So I know they dont have to be installed the long way because theyve worked when Ive reinstalled before.But I cant remember what things I had to put on to make the majority of them work.NFS hot pursuit, GTA4, Cyrsis, Deadspace, all them.Ive put on Direct X 11, Runtimes from Direct 9 and most distros.Though Ive tried to put on Visual C++ runtimes, i tried removing them after I put everyone I could find on, and now they are a bit broken up where I cant uninstall them from the program add remove menu off control panel.
If I am running Windows 64, do I need to install the x86 packs. Because I have been, and did so last and previous working install of windows both packs. ? This is worth a lot to me even know that.Since I just put on the OS, Im sure it cant be as silly as reinstalling it again.I used IOBIT uninstaller, to rid the other visual basic runtimes, but they are left on the program add/remove still.

I have been looking for a way to install garrysmod on another hard-drive without reinstalling steam and trying to get it to work on another hard-drive. I believe I have found one, but I am really a coward when it comes to this sort of thing, (I HATE re-formatting) the solution I have found apparently tells the computer that the directory/file is on C: when it is actually on another hard-drive, but I found it in an old forum thread, and the member that had posted it was banned.

HP sent him recovery disks for both Win 7 (64-bit) and the recovery driver disk. The Windows recovery disks appear to work fine; took over 1.5 hours to put the system back, but when he puts the driver disk in (and I tried this, too), the head sounds like it's repeatedly searching for something, can't find it, so after 2-3 minutes, just stops. Jan 12, 2013My laptop crashed the other day after a Windows update. To make a long story short it would not boot up. I tried several things to no avail. System restore disc did not work. At this point I thought the hard drive was fried.
