Arrow Keys Won't Work On Games?
Aug 4, 2011my arrow keys wont work on games when i am on the google chrome browser, they work for scrolling, just not the games, they do work in internet explorer.

Arrow Keys Don't Work On Page
Dec 15, 2011so recently i put together a comp using my old HDD, CD-DVD Drive, CPU, and PSU. I bought a new Mobo, GPU, Ram, and case. Anyway i was messing with the CMOS because it wouldn't turn on, so i was resetting it(once or twice) and when it turns on now, the computer directs me to the system repair page. It gives me the option to go repair the system or start windows normally, but the arrow keys don't work on this page. They work on the system repair's next page however. So i got out my Win7 disk preparing to reinstall, but after i put it in it directs it to the same page still.

Dec 3, 2009I use the auto scroll feature on my mouse frequently to browse web pages. Before upgrading to win 7 (and ie8) when activated I could scroll using the arrow keys on my keyboard. Since upgrading the arrow keys no longer work. You can only scroll by moving the mouse itself. That function is very important to me as it allowed me to keep my hand off the mouse reducing the aggravation of carpal tunnel syndrome. Any fixes? I am not sure if this is an IE8 problem or win 7 as I only use the function when browsing the web.

Feb 2, 2009I like to navigate Explorer using the arrow keys.
In XP, when I selected a folder with say my down arrow key, the contents of the folder would be displayed. That's what I am used to.
However using Seven and navigating with arrow keys the folder contents are not refreshed. They continue to show the previous folder.
I have to touch the space bar to get it to display the files in a folder.
Sub Folder Viewing Using Arrow Keys
Nov 16, 2009When I scroll through my sub-folders using explorer on the left hand side, it doesn't automatically display the contents on the right unless I use my cursor to manually select the folder, not just by scrolling up or down (right to left work to expand and contract folders). annoying. May 13, 2011A week back or so, it was all fine (With occasional Win 7 freezes, which i have never been able to troubleshoot). Then my Win 7 started showing a BSOD (Pretty frequently but randomly). While struggling with this i tried to add/remove RAM sticks (I am running on 4* 2GB = 8 GB in total. Tried to keep one stick (changed slots as well) and remove other three but still the same BSOD). Then i removed NVIDIA graphics card, hard disk & CD rom cables, processes and put everything back again. But to no use.BSOD was not really an issue, as I was thinking of reinstalling Windows and getting rid of that. Before that while Windows would restart (after a BSOD) the arrow keys were not working means: i was not able to choose from 1) boot windows normally 2) run repair etc options.Then i thought of booting the system from a bootable USB drive and run the repair. I pressed F12 to choose one time boot device, it showed the list but arrow keys were not working again. Strangely enough if i enter BIOS setup by pressing DEL, everything seems to work fine. So finally i made the USB drive my first boot device and the system was able to boot from it.I also had one Acronis bootable CD which i used for creating an image of C drive (After fresh Win 7 installation). I thought about restoring that image. I set my first boot device as CD ROM and was able to boot into Acronis. It gives 2 options (the default being boot into Windows). Acronis is a GUI based stuff so i tried to use mouse there. Oh man now mouse was not working and following the default option, the system was booting into Windows.

The arrow keys move the focus to the next folder in the left hand window but does not display its contents in the right hand window. Using XP and all previous versions of windows (after the introduction of the mouse) this was possible.Is this just my installation or has this feature been removed like the "remember each folder's view settings"?I have a large database in Access and the folder tree that it accesses is huge. Using the arrows instead of the mouse saves time and is bore ergonomically friendly to my hand.

Dec 10, 2012Since I find it much faster to move the "beam" cursor around with the arrow keys (and CTRL+Arrow key to jump over whole words), I frequently use that instead of the mouse to reposition the cursor, handy if I want to go back a few words and add or change something.
However on many sites, using the arrow keys fails to move the beam, yet the actual input position does change.
For example, I'll press "CRTL+Left Arrow" a few times to jump back three words. On the screen the beam stops flashing but stays put, yet if I start to type the typing starts where the beam should have ended up if it moved properly.

Feb 16, 2012I have this horrible Compaq laptop. It is a Presario CQ62. I want to smash it.The OS is Windows 7, a major problem in itself which requires other remedies.The issue that randomly started happening one day, and won't stop, is that the left and right arrow keys, home and end, page up/down, and delete don't work. They do work, however, if I disable the wireless network adapter.This is extremely annoying, and cripples the way I use the computer, becuase I use those keys a lot to navigate applications instead of clicking everywhere like a serf.I did try uninstalling both the keyboard and network adapter in control panel, then rebooting so Windows would find them and reinstall the drivers. I thought maybe they would go on another IRQ or some crap.

I have this key combination problem when playing PES 2012, then i found out that doesn't work on other apps too! Sep 29, 2011Because I lost the use of my left arm in a bike accident a few years back, there are a few very important requirements though... I play more FPS games than any others, so here are a few must-haves:Must have a tilting scroll wheel that is easy to get to: I use this to strafe in FPS games. Must have at least 10 buttons: used for almost everything except moving forwards and backwards, I have a keyboard on the floor for that. Must be a decent size (palm-grip style mouse): I need to still be able to hold the mouse while I use all the buttons. Must have profiles: many games don't allow me to use certain keys, and I'm getting tired of changing the mouse button functions every time. Preferably wireless: I'm so used to wireless now that having a fixed cable just seems weird, and I prefer the heavier mice, which tend to be the wireless ones anyway... Price: no more than R1000 (approx $125 USD), but hopefully closer to the R700/R800 mark ($90/$100).
It's a bit difficult to find a list of mice with tilting scroll wheels.. I know virtually all of Logitech's mice have, while none of Razer's mice do, but there may be others that I don't even know about. Currently I'm looking at getting one of these two:Logitech G700 (13 buttons, hyper-scroll wheel) Roccat Kone+ (12 buttons, 22 functions with Shift+ key)
Or are there any others that would be worth looking at..?
Keys Dont Respond While Playing Games?
Apr 30, 2011All drivers for hardware are up to date and installed. To be specific on the keys that do not work they are Alphabetical and Numerical keys only, the escape key, tilde key, tab, caps lock, shift, space etc all work... The wierd thing is that the numpad will not respond ingame if num lock is on, If it is off the buttons work BUT it recognizes them as Insert, Page down, Home, Delete etc. What driver or peice of hardware could possibly cause this problem. This problem occurs in Counter Strike Source and Starcraft II, havent tried any others but the problem is identical in the two games. If however i pull up the developer console i can use the keys perfectly to type a command but once im back IN GAME they just dont respond. When i tried to change my key bindings it cycles through numbers 0-9 doesnt matter if i press X 3 times then P 7 times it will go in a sequence of 0-9.

Nov 13, 2012i have a samsung np550p5c i kept getting popups of samsung updates and it did my head in so i updated them. they were about 7 updates and the ones i could remember were a bios, sound and graphics update.
when the updates were done it prompted me to restart which i did. when my laptop rebooted i got an error (ill post up a pic of it in a bit) now when i tried to change my brightness using the function keys they dont work

The games' setup were run on Windows 7 targeted to an external drive, and I'm trying to use the same drive with the Windows 7 games installed on Windows 8 right now. So do I have to reinstall them on Windows 8?
Note that the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode for the .exe files didn't work.

Oct 25, 2009when I upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (not clean install), will my installed games still work? I just don't really want to go through the hassle of reinstalling 30gb worth of content :P.
This is a separate issue from game compatibility (I have read the list), I just want to know if games will work after an upgrade.
Basically, do games make changes to the registry, or are they simply composed of the files in the installation folder?
No Games Work After Re-install OS
May 5, 2011Im not sure why my orginal thread got deleted, but it probably had something to do with the lines. That I only wanted a good answer and good people.Im having a problem here it is ive reinstalled Windows 7, I have my old program files directory with my games. They are cracked, because im too lazy to use the dvd's and change them all the time. So I know they dont have to be installed the long way because theyve worked when Ive reinstalled before.But I cant remember what things I had to put on to make the majority of them work.NFS hot pursuit, GTA4, Cyrsis, Deadspace, all them.Ive put on Direct X 11, Runtimes from Direct 9 and most distros.Though Ive tried to put on Visual C++ runtimes, i tried removing them after I put everyone I could find on, and now they are a bit broken up where I cant uninstall them from the program add remove menu off control panel.
If I am running Windows 64, do I need to install the x86 packs. Because I have been, and did so last and previous working install of windows both packs. ? This is worth a lot to me even know that.Since I just put on the OS, Im sure it cant be as silly as reinstalling it again.I used IOBIT uninstaller, to rid the other visual basic runtimes, but they are left on the program add/remove still.
