View 2 RepliesAll drivers for hardware are up to date and installed. To be specific on the keys that do not work they are Alphabetical and Numerical keys only, the escape key, tilde key, tab, caps lock, shift, space etc all work... The wierd thing is that the numpad will not respond ingame if num lock is on, If it is off the buttons work BUT it recognizes them as Insert, Page down, Home, Delete etc. What driver or peice of hardware could possibly cause this problem. This problem occurs in Counter Strike Source and Starcraft II, havent tried any others but the problem is identical in the two games. If however i pull up the developer console i can use the keys perfectly to type a command but once im back IN GAME they just dont respond. When i tried to change my key bindings it cycles through numbers 0-9 doesnt matter if i press X 3 times then P 7 times it will go in a sequence of 0-9.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe way i connect to my XP network is i open explorer and click on the Network folder icon. Then i wait for the green search bar to do it's thing at the top of the screen and when it detects the XP computer, it will show XP under Network and i can access it.Well it stopped. No matter how many times I clicked on Network the green search bar only searched once after a reboot and it would not find the XP drive.After searching I found that you could open the drive by typing in the start menu's search bar, \NAME. This worked fine, so I am able to access the drive but why don't it work with the Network folder in Explorer anymore? After I open the xp drive this way, it will then magically pop up under the Network folder but not before.Also is there a way to create a shortcut to this drive? I don't see that option by right clicking on it.

Anyway i was messing with the CMOS because it wouldn't turn on, so i was resetting it(once or twice) and when it turns on now, the computer directs me to the system repair page. It gives me the option to go repair the system or start windows normally, but the arrow keys don't work on this page. They work on the system repair's next page however. So i got out my Win7 disk preparing to reinstall, but after i put it in it directs it to the same page still.

when the updates were done it prompted me to restart which i did. when my laptop rebooted i got an error (ill post up a pic of it in a bit) now when i tried to change my brightness using the function keys they dont work

Before upgrading to win 7 (and ie8) when activated I could scroll using the arrow keys on my keyboard. Since upgrading the arrow keys no longer work. You can only scroll by moving the mouse itself. That function is very important to me as it allowed me to keep my hand off the mouse reducing the aggravation of carpal tunnel syndrome. Any fixes? I am not sure if this is an IE8 problem or win 7 as I only use the function when browsing the web.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.That is how the problem progressed:1. I was trying to enable Telnet service and found out that 'Turn Windows Features on/off' in Control panel > Programs and Features is a blank list.I checked on internet and i found out that it means my windows update wont be working as well so i check it:2. Windows update gives the error 80070002 and it does not check for updates.. Again check net and it said to run sfc/scannow in command prompt (as administrator). I did it. and it gives error 'Windows Resource Protection can't execute the command'.
I have tried everything. I have tried: msconfig.exe to enable/disable services and restarting and rechecking. Uninstalling my Avast Antivirus. View 3 Replies View RelatedI was fixing a laptop that was having several issues, (special keys wouldn't work properly, internet explorer would crash, PDF files wouldn't open, etc) and I found a suspicious file (C:User<user>AppDataRoamingElofenmoma.exe) that was booting on startup. Virustotal hit me with only 3 results for a trojan, which is actually quite low, but this file was clearly the problem, the details seemed to be in russian and it's Regedit entry was random letters.
So I cleaned all evidence of this file and now the keyboard works properly, but I'm still having problems with executable. Most of the times when I open a program nothing shows up, yet the process is running, after opening it 3 or 4 times one window finally opens, but there's still 3 or 4 idle processes before it with no window in sight. Some times when I force close the first process all the other windows suddenly show up. I also noticed that the processes for setups, chrome, internet explorer tend to stay idle even after closing them normally (in the program itself, manually closing the process works).Usually I would just format the PC, but this is a very complicated PC to format, the owner has tons of certificates that he needs and most of them he doesn't even remember how to reinstall them again.
I am having issues with my laptop. Sometimes when i type the letters turn into shortcut keys and when i am in the middle of an important school asignment I loose my work, because i can't do anything. I can use my mouse, but when i try to use my keyboard it is almost inoperable. I have even tried to use an external keyboard and the samething happens. I have used Rkill, malwarbytes, norton and ccleaner, but nomatter what i do it keeps happening. The only way i have been able to temperarily fix it is to restart the computer and the problem can come back in 30 minutes or it can come back in 10hours . it even happens when i play games.
