I have several computers still running the RC version of win7 and I am trying to pick the most cost effective option for installing legit version.
I had first thought to get the 3key Family Pack, but have obviously far missed my window of opportunity on that option.
I rebuild and test new computer equipment frequently, so I don't want to use a OEM version that is limited to one activation (unless that's changed?)
I've heard mixed info that the retail version is good for 10 activations, is that for 1 PC or multiple PCs running at the same time?
I tend to run 3-4 towers at once at minimum in my home so I need to know if I need separate keys for each PC I am running. Are the activations good, if I make hardware changes to my PC? Swapping motherboards is always a concern so I don't want to be shelling out for a new copy every time I try out a new board.
I have heard that a technet subscription might be an option for me, but I am concerned my use of the 'Evaluation Copy' software isn't really part of the license agreement. I wouldn't be evaluating the windows software, it's normally my hardware I am evaluating.
Can someone give me more infomation on how the Technet accounts work?
I know if I need different keys for each of my PCs then I would probably need 6-7 keys, I don't mind paying $300 a year for a technet subsribtion if my use of it won't be a problem. But I don't want to shell out $300 only to find out should have bought the retail version instead. And then again if the retail version is good for 10 activations, and I can use it on multiple PCs at once, that would also work for me.
This morning I attended a Windows 7 Launch developer presentation as part of the New Efficiency. We were given copies of Windows 7 Ultimate at the end of the presentation, however I was disappointed to find it was only 32-bit. It says so on the disc.
My question is, is there somewhere I can get a hold of a copy of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit (say, a download site?), and install it with my CD key I was given? Also, am I right in assuming that my CD key will work for both 64 and 32 bit?
Upgraded a Toshiba laptop from vista to windows 7 and now have a huge problem. The number keys do not work when in browsers???? They work on notebook and in the calculator but not in IE or Firefox. When you push them they just repeat the last inputed keys. Ive flashed the bios up to date, read a million forums, and done ever littl trick I know of with no avail?
I was streaming some anime then out of nowhere my computer blue screens,it restarts fine, windows runs fine but a few letters on my keyboard stopped working. Windows 7 is OS dell inspiron n5010 is my laptop. P,o,i,u,w,e,r all do not work on my keyboard there might be a couple more that i have not noticed. no i don't remember the error sorry it was too fast. I scanned using advanced system care 5. It fixed a lot of bugs among other
Did a clean install of windows 7 on my sony vaio fz21z laptop. Cannot find a solution to get the brightness keys working also found driver for bluetooth that works fine but cannot turn the device on or off. I have been told that it is a separate piece of software but cannot find this.
my arrow keys wont work on games when i am on the google chrome browser, they work for scrolling, just not the games, they do work in internet explorer.
so recently i put together a comp using my old HDD, CD-DVD Drive, CPU, and PSU. I bought a new Mobo, GPU, Ram, and case. Anyway i was messing with the CMOS because it wouldn't turn on, so i was resetting it(once or twice) and when it turns on now, the computer directs me to the system repair page. It gives me the option to go repair the system or start windows normally, but the arrow keys don't work on this page. They work on the system repair's next page however. So i got out my Win7 disk preparing to reinstall, but after i put it in it directs it to the same page still.
i have a samsung np550p5c i kept getting popups of samsung updates and it did my head in so i updated them. they were about 7 updates and the ones i could remember were a bios, sound and graphics update.
when the updates were done it prompted me to restart which i did. when my laptop rebooted i got an error (ill post up a pic of it in a bit) now when i tried to change my brightness using the function keys they dont work

I use the auto scroll feature on my mouse frequently to browse web pages. Before upgrading to win 7 (and ie8) when activated I could scroll using the arrow keys on my keyboard. Since upgrading the arrow keys no longer work. You can only scroll by moving the mouse itself. That function is very important to me as it allowed me to keep my hand off the mouse reducing the aggravation of carpal tunnel syndrome. Any fixes? I am not sure if this is an IE8 problem or win 7 as I only use the function when browsing the web.
I am having problems with my keyboard where I'll hold down a key (either in a game, or other program) and it'll work for a few seconds, and then suddenly stop as I am still holding the key down. For instance, in any of my games, if I want the character to run a certain direction I hold the key down, and the character stops like I released the key, which I haven't.I have tried reintstalling the driver, updating it, changing USB ports for the receiver(its a wireless Keyboard and Mouse)
Why is Windows 7 64 SP1 bit stuck on full brightness, FN+ keys don't work, I would like them to work. Asus N50VN. I did go to the drivers page and latest drivers did not work, I installed Nvidia from Windows Update still FN up / down keys don't work
I'm looking for new scanner (25+ ppm) that will work w/7. Scantastik store claims nobody (fujitsu, canon, xerox, etc.) will work yet - drivers not available until year end. Does anyone know anything differently? I was able to get my HP officejet 7000 printer to work.
my brother wants to know if HPNA or HomePNA will work with windows 7 before he switches over, does anyone know? I've tried googling a bit and can't find out. I know HPNA is supposed to be outdated and all, but we still prefer it.
I know absolutely nothing about computers so this may be a stupid question, but anyway. I have a 64-bit computer system, but was shipped a 32-bit Windows 7. Can I use this with my computer?
I am a Technet Plus subscriber and thus have 10 keys for each version of windows 7.
In short my question is, for Windows 7 Ultimate, Once you activate 1 key, Can you activate it again without calling microsoft to "unlock" you?
I have formatted my machine numerous times testing and developing for windows 7, and I have run out of keys since I used a new one each time I formatted. Now, I would like to format again and use a key I have previously used, but before I do I just want to know if I can activate the key online? or will I have to call MS? (which is fine but am overseas and need to coordinate the call back the the states)
I was a succesful tester of Windows 7 RC, where the realtek audio drivers worked flawlessly. Recently i purchased and installed windows RTM Home Premium.
If you have the following symptoms when reinstalling windows 7 RTM with the realtek audio:
- No Realtek icon in the taskbar
- Cannot active the realtek driver window from control panel.
- The windows audio playing devices do not show up when requested...
well:
For some reason, the realtek driver or Windows 7 RTM are not compatible anymore with RTM got released.
The problem is not with the driver, however, but with User Accounts Management security settings.
Install the latest driver from Realtek, which you find on the www.realtek.com. The version of the driver currently is 235.
Then, disable UAC through Control Panel -> System -> Change User Account Management, and reboot.
You'll notice now that the Realtek driver taskbar icon (the brown luidspeaker) shows up in your taskbar. Good news.
Click on the taskbar icon, and the RT driver windows shows up. In this window, you can change the driver operating from Stereo to 5.1.
Clearly, some things are wrong with audio in RTM. Because you cannot open the audio play devices dialog through the windows luidspeaker icon and right clicking the option from the menu.
Ok, so I have that problem with the Creative cards where it doesn't play nice with my Nvidia chipset and Win 7 64. Horrible sound when it works at all, clicks and pops and crackles. But most of the time it doesn't work at all.
The sound card in question is the X-fi Platinum I believe, and my mobo is an Asus A8N Deluxe.
I have been totally unable to find any information on decent sound cards that WILL work given my equipment. I would like to find something that provides rich sound similar to the X-fi Platinum. It was great while it lasted. Now I can't even get the crappy onboard sound to work!
Are there any other technet promo codes. trying to use TEYFY09 but its not working... guess it expired at midnight of the 2nd. sucks.. got paid today and was gonna get technet today ... now i cant afford it
I recently bought an HP laptop, and I received a windows 7 upgrade kit. I was wondering if I could use the code on the COA that was included to install on my dell computer?
I have ordered a PC (Dell Studio XPS 8100, 8GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce 240, Intel Core i5 750) and would like to use my existing BenQ FP93E S monitor with it as I am very happy with this monitor. Apparently the BenQ is compatible with Vista but I cannot find out whether it is compatible with Windows 7. I intend connecting via DVI-D.
I read an article in here a month or more ago that had discount codes for North American subscriptions. Unfortunately those codes all expired.
I am wondering if anyone else has come across a promotional code for TechNet recently that's valid. If you have you could please either PM me or post as a reply?
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate just fine on my Dell GX270, although I still need a new PCI graphics card. I select Custom so I could do a clean install. But it left all my files on the C: drive. I wanted to format the drive first. Problem is the TechNet Windows 7 Ultimate DVD won't boot.
What is my next best selection? Searches for boot cd's looked too complicated to build.
Did a clean install upgrade from XP and installed office 2003. I used a utility called backrex to save and reinstall my office settings. Everything works fine except my message rules do not work. I get an error message similar to unable to move from inbox. I deleted all of my rules and was only able to recreate the ones going through the specified account to a folder.
All other rules attempted produced the rule but the underlined portion that you click and fill out were not underlined so it is impossible to do the rules other than through the specified account.
After finishing each rule I attempted to run the rule in the inbox to sort the emails and that failed and I received the error message unable to move from inbox. I have 47 email accounts for my businesses and for my sanity must use rules. Has anyone else encountered this problem and does anyone know of a solution?
There is a new level of Technet called Standard which is available for $199 for 1st year subscribers...versus the typical $349 that MS charges for Technet Professional. If you are concerned about what comes with which version, this link is VERY SPECIFIC and lists every product you get with each. You will see that it's only a handful of "enterprise" versions of most things which are excluded;URL.If you do want the Professional subscription the promo code that is valid on it until end of July 2010 is TNWNF
In am using Dell N5010 after i press the function keys the keys below that line that is numerical keys 1 to 10 and - & + (except backspace) are not working kindly advice what will be the reason
I was fixing a laptop that was having several issues, (special keys wouldn't work properly, internet explorer would crash, PDF files wouldn't open, etc) and I found a suspicious file (C:User<user>AppDataRoamingElofenmoma.exe) that was booting on startup. Virustotal hit me with only 3 results for a trojan, which is actually quite low, but this file was clearly the problem, the details seemed to be in russian and it's Regedit entry was random letters.
So I cleaned all evidence of this file and now the keyboard works properly, but I'm still having problems with executable. Most of the times when I open a program nothing shows up, yet the process is running, after opening it 3 or 4 times one window finally opens, but there's still 3 or 4 idle processes before it with no window in sight. Some times when I force close the first process all the other windows suddenly show up. I also noticed that the processes for setups, chrome, internet explorer tend to stay idle even after closing them normally (in the program itself, manually closing the process works).Usually I would just format the PC, but this is a very complicated PC to format, the owner has tons of certificates that he needs and most of them he doesn't even remember how to reinstall them again.
I am having issues with my laptop. Sometimes when i type the letters turn into shortcut keys and when i am in the middle of an important school asignment I loose my work, because i can't do anything. I can use my mouse, but when i try to use my keyboard it is almost inoperable. I have even tried to use an external keyboard and the samething happens. I have used Rkill, malwarbytes, norton and ccleaner, but nomatter what i do it keeps happening. The only way i have been able to temperarily fix it is to restart the computer and the problem can come back in 30 minutes or it can come back in 10hours . it even happens when i play games.
