when I upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (not clean install), will my installed games still work? I just don't really want to go through the hassle of reinstalling 30gb worth of content :P.
This is a separate issue from game compatibility (I have read the list), I just want to know if games will work after an upgrade.
Basically, do games make changes to the registry, or are they simply composed of the files in the installation folder?
I've tried 3 games so far. Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs doesn't work but Botanicula does. Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs are complaining for missing .dll files but I doubt that Windows 7 optimized .dll files will solve the issue.
The games' setup were run on Windows 7 targeted to an external drive, and I'm trying to use the same drive with the Windows 7 games installed on Windows 8 right now. So do I have to reinstall them on Windows 8?
Note that the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode for the .exe files didn't work.

They are cracked, because im too lazy to use the dvd's and change them all the time. So I know they dont have to be installed the long way because theyve worked when Ive reinstalled before.But I cant remember what things I had to put on to make the majority of them work.NFS hot pursuit, GTA4, Cyrsis, Deadspace, all them.Ive put on Direct X 11, Runtimes from Direct 9 and most distros.Though Ive tried to put on Visual C++ runtimes, i tried removing them after I put everyone I could find on, and now they are a bit broken up where I cant uninstall them from the program add remove menu off control panel.
If I am running Windows 64, do I need to install the x86 packs. Because I have been, and did so last and previous working install of windows both packs. ? This is worth a lot to me even know that.Since I just put on the OS, Im sure it cant be as silly as reinstalling it again.I used IOBIT uninstaller, to rid the other visual basic runtimes, but they are left on the program add/remove still.

I have read through threads dating back to early 2012 that say that upgrading from HP to Enterprise is not possible because Enterprise has a different license key.
1) Is this upgrade version of Enterprise meant to be an upgrade from XP Enterprise, or is there now a way to upgrade from an existing Windows 7 version?
2) When upgrade version are offered to employees through a job like this, are employees required to get a key from the software admins, and does this also apply to downloaded version? There was no mention of a key on the download page.

I even had a live chat w/ support and they said since my computer was no longer under warranty I had to pay for extended cust. serv. He said it was an issue w/ the upgrade but refused to give me any more details. I've been in the device manger and checked for driver updates but it says the drivers are up to date. Every key but my Eject key works. Even the volume buttons right next to the eject button!

View 2 Replies View RelatedSystem - Mac w/Lion running Parallels so I can run Windows 7 software Purchased already - Windows 7 Home Premium full retail version My old Windows machine was dying and my family wanted to move this last family member PC holdout over to Mac. This is my first experience with Mac. My grown son wanted to make it as easy for me as possible, so he loaded a trial version of Windows 7 on the new Mac and got everything set up in parallels for me. The idea was that after I transferred all my files over to the new machine I could just move the activation over to the new machine and we would trash the ancient PC. I was all set last night to officially activate the trial version when I discovered that the new machine's trial version is Windows 7 Professional, not Windows 7 Home Premium.What I need to find out is if I purchase the retail Windows 7 Professional Upgrade version, could I simply enter that product key and not have to uninstall and reinstall now that I have the trail version for pro all nice and settled. I really do not want to have to uninstall, especially with the added complication of Parallels, install Home and then upgrade. I want 'KISS' and simply enter the product key for the professional upgrade and just keep on working with my set up system. Will that work?

When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. View 1 Replies View Relatedok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.
