View 2 RepliesI upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 with no problem. A pop up did mention that I would not be able to use windows mail but did advise my setting and files would still be able to be used. I now have Outlook running but can find no way forward to find all my previous emails.
Question.
Where are my files?
I've looked for driver updates on Gateways website for my PS/2 keyboard. Alas there are none. I even had a live chat w/ support and they said since my computer was no longer under warranty I had to pay for extended cust. serv. He said it was an issue w/ the upgrade but refused to give me any more details. I've been in the device manger and checked for driver updates but it says the drivers are up to date. Every key but my Eject key works. Even the volume buttons right next to the eject button!
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have done a complete upgrade to windows 7 from a preinstalled vista. The vista came with my laptop and it had a recovery backup drive on my hard drive. I did create recovery disks but i don't think they are working correctly as when i put them in on a boot up it says windows is loading files but stops half way.
So my question is, if i ever need or want to go back to my preinstalled vista could i and how would i perform this step. I still have my recovery partition and i have not messed with that. But i cannot see my recovery partition in windows 7 but i know its there as the memory is not available.
I bought my laptop about a year ago with Vista 32-bit pre-installed even though it is capable of running 64-bit, and now I'm looking to upgrade to Win7 and would like to make use of it's 64-bit capabilities. Is there any easy way of going about this? Since I got the computer with it pre-installed, it did not come with the 32/64-bit installation CDs for Vista. I can buy the Win7 64-bit upgrade CD from my campus store with my student discount, so I was hoping there would be a way for me to do this easily.

Activesync works perfectly on my phone so that portion of the network is open at my work. I have been doing some reaserch and in order to get Outlook to sync with Exchange Server without VPN, RPC over HTTP or Outlook Anywhere must be enabled on the network. I know for a fact that our IT department have that portion disabled.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased an HP laptop running Vista just when Windows 7 was coming out. It included a coupon to upgrade to Windows 7. I ordered the upgrade disks.I finally ran the upgrade to Windows 7 including performing the suggested backup of all my files on a separate hard drive. The instructions indicated that I would be saving my email and contacts that was a part of Windows Mail. Now that I am running Win 7, I don't have access to Windows Mail and I don't know where my email files might reside. What can I do now to gain access to my old emails and contracts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Win 7 RC on a new build and purchased Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM with upgrade to Win 7 Home premium. The Win 7 upgrade disc has arrived. I understand that Vista must be installed and activated for the upgrade to work. Attempts to install Vista with Win 7 RC running or booting from the Vista disc lead to error code 0x80070103, insufficient free space. My HDD has > 450 Gb free space in 2 partitions. Do I need to reformat the HDD in order to install Vista over Win 7?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just had my HP dv5 laptop (2 years old) updated with Windows 7 from Vista Premium. Like everyone else I have no email and lost, it looks like, many emails on the old server. When I see all the answers about changing files, and .dll. and .exe, and all that I am more lost than ever. I don't know all this stuff and I'm really bothered that Microsoft came out with this mess.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed windows seven and it boots up automatically without giving me the option to boot into my old vista partition.
Background:
I am sure this is something simple, but I can't get it working.
I had vista installed and I used partition magic to repartition my hard drive on my laptop.
I made the new partition come before my old partition, because I wanted windows 7 to be my primary eventually.
I think it may have someting to do with making the vista partition active, but I am notentirely sure how to do that.
How do i get rid of Vista because that was the main reason why i wanted to install 7 instead so it would delete everything but now its got 7 and vista on... how do i get rid of windows vista. I even did the Advanced Custom install not the upgrade and everything is still on my HD with Vista. I only want 7
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe users here can't stand WLM with its over-busy interface and buried everyday functions and so I found a nice simple email prog called Sylpheed. It is very easy to use and quick. It works fine with one exception. It is not listed in default program options ( like it didn't exist) and so if you try to email out of an app, you are told no program is installed.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy Windows 7 64-bit computer acted oddly (after it accidentally got unplugged while on, tho not sure that's what did it). now when i boot i get as far as the windows 7 logo starts to show, then i get that it can't boot.i changed nothing that i know of.repair says it can't. restore, which only lists points from 3 days ago, doesn't work. i did a memory test. it was fine.am i doomed to do a clean re-install of Windows 7? btw, if i get that Windows 7 logo, and also a stage where it says it is loading files, that means it is reading from my hard drive?
