I have, as the topicsuggests:Nvidia nForce 680i SLI motherboardI downloaded the drivers from Nvidia's web site for the Win_7_64 drivers for this motherboard, but it will not allow me to install the Ethernet drivers when installing the WHQL download.Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea of how to get my PC back on the intarwebz?t: After looking through the .exe with all of the motherboard drivers, I've found that they do include an Ethernet driver, but during the installation, I only have the option of installing the 'Nvidia Storage Driver', none of the other components are even available to be installed.
View 8 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was attacked by the s.m.a.r.t. trojan which has "hijacked" my files and hid them. I have followed the recommendation from Microsoft Answers, Security Essentials[URL] but it is not working. I got my desktop icons to show up but the screen is still black and I cannot see anything when I click the start button. It was suggested that I open up a new window in task manager, but when I click on Task Manager it reverts back to the fake virus scanner (S.M.A.R.T. HDD). I typed in "cmd" on the search bar, which opened up a dos prompt. I then proceeded to type in the following:
CD/ then hit enter
ATTRIB -H -R -S /S /D then hit enter
The prompt began to scroll through numerous files rapidly, but each line was preceeded by "access denied". So, when it finished, nothing was accomplished, as far as I know. I have not rebooted the PC yet. Any suggestion? I don't know if this was the incorrect thing to do, but, before I entered those dos commands I ran a copy of Windows Defender Offline Beta from disk. It said that it removed numerous trojans, but I fear that it only angered it. I will probably reformat my c:\ drive, b ut i want to gbet some files off of it prior to doing so.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there are few Limited connectivity threads but ive checked them, non of them have the answer im looking for so ill just tell you the story.I accidentily downloaded a malware/adware program called Antimalware Doctor, i tried going into safe mode and using multiple programs to delete it (Malware bytes, Spybot - Search and Destroy & AVG command line scanner) they apprently deleted it , i loaded my comp back to normal mode and there it was back in there corner >
i managed to get rid of the program by bringing up task manager and removing the process called "sorttm700" (thats what the antimalware doctor program was called in the toolbar when i hovered over it) then going to my computer and searching for sorttm700, i deleted all the folders with sorttm700 in them and rebooted and no more annoying ads to buy fake software however i still have limited connectivity (it became limited while the malware was on my computer and before i took any action to resolve it)i am trying to use the same network as the computer i am using now ot send this message, i never get connection problems with my laptop using this connection i have tried reseting my router and modem as well as uninstalling the driver and reinstalling and now there is a red cross with no options to connect to an access point, my wifi on my laptop is on before you ask?
I lost Windows Defender. I had a few Trojans pop in last week. It was the Sirefef.p, and a few others I can't remember their other names. I think I have gotten rid of all of them. Now just trying to get back what they took. I had an Error code "0x80070424" with my Firewall. I followed these instructions here: [URL]. My Firewall is back up and running now. But my Windows Defender isn't working. It isn't even in my PC any-longer. These Trojans even uninstalled my Microsoft Security Essentials. But I got that reinstalled. I just need to know how to get my Windows Defender back up and running. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am running Office 2003 under Windows 7 RC. My HP All in One Photosmart 2575 is connected to my network via the router and prints just fine. However, Microsoft Office Document Scanning does not recognize the device as a scanner. The 'Choose Scanner' box is empty. If I connect the All in One to a USB port, Document Scanning finds the scanner and it works as expected.
What must I do to get the All in One to be detected as a scanner under Windows 7 when connected as a network device?

Is there any streamlined way of doing this? Fax & Scan only gives options to save scans as a few different image formats - .gif, .jpg, .bmp, and .tif - no other image formats, nor any document formats (.pdf, .txt, .doc, etc.) are available.As of now, after looking online in various places for over an hour, from what I can see, the necessary process is to save the scan as a .jpg, convert it to a .tif, open it with the Office Document Imaging program, and then send it to word.

I noticed that this only happens when I have an AVG scan running and if I pause/continue the scan, the music will change almost instantly. I also get blue screen when I run the extended test, or run a chkdsk. HD tune pro tells me that there are 1461 pending sectors and 1455 uncorrectable errors. Is this bad? 1464 pending sectors on my HD but 0 reallocated.
I have horizontal lines that scan my monitor whenever i play a game. I can see the horizontal lines only on darker colors like grey, dark-green etc. I have a Samsung E2220 display that runs at 1080p on 60hz on a vga cable (no hdmi/dvi support on it). I tried another vga cable, i tried another power cable but with the same result.I have all drivers updated (monitor and other hardware). My current PC specs are: AsRock N68-C S UCC, Phenom II x4, 4Gb DDR3, Radeon HD7770, 500gb HDD Sata3 and a power supply Sirtec 500W 80+.If I open Far Cry 3, for example, i get those horizontal lines. If i minimize the game i still get the horizontal lines if i have something dark on my display (a grey/dark-green/dark-blue website).Before the HD7770 i had a GTS 450 and had the same problems. Could it be the PSU, or the motherboard or what? I also tried a different display monitor (on the VGA) and had the same horizontal lines scaning my display monitor.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been doing a lot of research on this and I know this topic has been covered a million times, so please bear with me. I'm specifically wondering about the "file-optimization" features in third party defraggers such as Diskeeper or Iobit Smart Defrag (which I use). I know that Microsoft has refined their own defragger, but it seems to me that it has no obvious file optimization and it of course does not have real-time defragging. I've been using Iobit Smart Defrag for a long time and it seems to do a good job of keeping my computer in shape. But, if the Windows 7 defrag works good enough, I'd prefer to just use that and get rid of Smart Defrag to free up CPU and RAM. I'd obviously lose out on the real-time scanning, file optimization, and the boot time scan that Iobit just added to their latest release. But, are these features really necessary for fast, clean performance of Windows 7? Or are these just gimics from third party companies to get me to purchase their software.
