i just tried yesterday to install a Kapersky Lab 2012 in my netbook and while installing it remove my MSE,i change from MSE to Kapersky because i was not satisfied with the results of MSE when someone inserted a 4gb usb stick and i suspected it right away it contains malwares, while scanning i saw a lot of ".exe , .pif" ..and i know those wer not part of her files because she didnt even care what was it and the results where NO THREAT detected ..my virus defintion is always updated and i also use a malwerbytes to recheck the scanning, but same results. >can anyone tell me why this WELL known scanners did not detect it?and now after installing a Kapersky..when trying to activate a 30 day trial first,it says "FAILED" and when i look in my status of my network it works fine. and i tried in a browser i receive now a "DNS look up fail bla bla" i tried Chrome and Firefox and i suspected i was being contaminated with that usb stick..so i used the Kapersky Virus Removal Tool 2010 and Dr.Web..which was suggested in my previous thread.it detected a few virus and hacking tools which is "CloseApp.exe"..but after 3 hours of scanning..still i coundnt connect to any website, but my network status is fine. i can send and receive packetdatas..also run the ping 127.0.0.1 and ipconfig but everything was fine.
I just installed DSL in my house. It's all hooked up and when I try to access it with my laptop, both wired and wireless, I get DNS Lookup Failed. I've done some of the common suggested fixes:Reset the modem and router Manually set the DNS (using Google) So, I'm at a loss. I know the computer itself is fine, as I've used it on other networks. Admittedly, I'm not 100% certain the DSL is properly working, but I will speak with my ISP tonight to make sure that it isn't the issue.
Our PC internet quit working a few days ago. Our wireless laptop and Ipods work. After some (hours) of playing, I noticed our homepage was set to something Babylon. So realized we had some virus issues after research. I have run SpyBot S&D, SAS and Malwarebytes- all came up with some various serious threats. CouponBar, Babylon, I want it! etc. These programs seemed to have removed all the problems, but I still do not have access. My LAN can find my network, but says "no internet access" the wireless does not connect either on this PC.
My computer knowledge is minimal but after comparing various ipconfig screens, it seems to have something to do with the IP addresses. I read that 169.254...is not good. I disabled IPV6 and when obtaining IP addresses automatically didn't work- I typed in the ones listed on the details part of the adapter. Here is a screen shot of my IPconfig/all with LAN only: Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . .. . .
on my Win7 desktop machine, DNS lookups started failing, I can ping 4.2.2.2 .Ii can access my web servers by IP , but even nslookup replies 'No response from server" , tried server 4.2.2.2, server 8.8.4.4,I have tried multiple Name server settings, all other devices on my home network are doing fine, its like DNS is blocked, I have shutdown firewalls, flushed dns, registered dns, even onlined a different Ethernet card, Eset NOD32 runs clean, Commodo FW is clean, all VPN software is removed,y Ideas ? I am 20 yr comp geek so don't hesitate to suggest something complex this is strange, only on one workstation too. I think i have a glitch in the registry for the IP stack or some kind of dns client hijack is getting past my NOD32 and Windows security
if i add an entry into the hosts file, shouldn't it stop me from trying to access that webpage? i'm also wondering, how to lookup the ip address of pages i visit, or servers i connect to so i can prepare similar file configurations to hosts and firewall settings.
On a couple of websites I visit I get this pop up...." An add-on for this website failed to run "After a few seconds the pop-up disappears. This has been happening for about a month now, and it does not happen on every website I visit. Can someone tell me what it means and how to stop it?

A few days ago, I started having trouble with Dell Latitued D800, Windows 7. First, Windows would not boot up. I was able to boot windows using the F12 option. When Windows loaded, the screen display had shrunk and was centered with a black perimeter. I contacted the guy that sold me the computer and he suggested that I check the boot sequence for the boot issue. That worked fine. To resolve the resolution issue, I was advised to select the "last known good configuration" from the F8 options. After I did that, the Windows Error Recovery Screen. A Recent Hardware Or Software Change May Be The Cause. I attempt to start windows normally.
When I last shut down my HP Mini 110 netbook it began installing updates, which is normal now and again. When I switched it on the next day it comes up with a black screen saying Windows Boot Manager:Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause... It goes on to tell me to insert my windows installation disc but netbooks dont have diskdrives
I recently saved over my Fallout 1 savegame and I want the old one back, I tried system restore but it failed due to an unspecified error, hinting to turn my antivirus off - which didn't work. I just want to old save file back, is there a program that can do that?
My DVD drive disappeared so I want to do a system restore to get it back, but it fails and Windows tells me that it could not access a file. I have Zone Alarm and Malwarebytes, and I turned them both off, but it still fails. If there is no quick fix for this I would at least like to lock in my system restore snapshot so it doesn't get overwritten by a new one.

I am running a desktop with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. When I first power it on the normal BIOS posts and then Starting Windows just hangs, no 4 colored orbs that turn into the Windows logo. I can hit the reset button and it boots and runs fine. I have tried the Launch Startup Repair after the reset button but doesn't seam to do anything

When I was installing the 64bit drivers for Windows 7 it gave me the following log after installing the Catalyst Control Center. The Ati Display Driver failed to install properly.
I got a new P55 motherboard. I installed windows. The board was giving me problems. I put my old P45 motherboard into the case and booted form the same hard drive. (Windows 7 64 bit) It booted up fine but no internet.
I put in the P45 driver disk to install it's drivers. All installed fine except for the ethernet controller driver. It says "Reg DBGet key Valueex : failed" (no spaces)
What would this mean? Something in the registry? I un-installed the P55 driver that was on the HD. Also I "disabled" the device in device manager.
I have an image I created from the P45 board I could simply replace this installation with this image, but would like to just get this driver installed and everything will work. It's right here on the disk but it gives me this error.
Just received a new OCZ Agility 3 SSD and are having some issues. I've installed the drive and formatted it, I have also tried to update to firmware on it countless times all of which have resulted in 'Firmware Download Failed'. The drives also seems to be disappearing occasionally and requires a restart before it appears again. I want to update the firmware before I clone my old HDD to it.
I left my 160 GB hard disc unused for 1 month. It was installed with Windows 7 ultimate. But now it says unable to start windows. I have another 1 TB hd. i can boot from this and my 160 GB still works as a memory storage. Its only problem is that it is unable to boot.I think if i install a new copy of window it will work.but i need to know why it was happened when 160 GB hard disc was not in used for a long time and any other way to recover it.
I'd had some problem with my laptop the last few days, what I believed to have happened is my laptop (Dell inspiron n5110) which is windows 7, was doing a configuration, but because of my bad connection, my internet dropped. It was stuck at 15% for 3 hours so I turned it off as it was about to run out of battery. It had some problems loading and starting up but they went after a day. but 1 day later I am booting up and I get a black screen.
I've recently purchased a used A665-3DV6 Toshiba Satellite Laptop. It had the BIOS password problem. So I've jumped the CMOS and cleared the password. I've initiated the "out of box state" and it went through the whole process. When it was finished I shut down the computer. Then the next morning I booted the computer up and it stated "HDD Boot Failed". I tried running Factory reset again but there is only a blinking cursor on the top left hand corner of the screen.
What happened: At the very end of installing RC Windows 7, I got a "failed to upgrade" message, and then it said my system would automatically revert back to Vista, which it did (thankfully).
I have already uninstalled Windows OneCare (virus protection). However, when Windows 7 was installing, my Spyware Doctor opened up and I had to click "yes" on it for the Spyware Doctor box to go away. Do you think that could have caused the upgrade to fail? I had turned off Spyware Doctor, but I'm thinking I should uninstall it before trying Windows 7 again. What do you all think?
So...I got a new computer and WMP was already kinda screwy since it was splitting up my albums and messing with the tracks. No matter how many 'scan now' things I ran, my computer didn't pick up anything wrong, so I just dealt with it. Now WMP isn't working at all and every time I try to play a song I get the message: server execution failed.I have a Window's 7 OS 64bit computer. I've tried scannow, I've tried FixWIN, I've tried FixWMP, I've gone through a three page thread with a similar problem, tried all of the manual fix-its and nothing worked. I absolutely do not want to re-download my entire OS just to fix one program. In fact, I'm done with trying to fix the program. If anyone out there can give me a compatible WMP, any version (old, new, experimentand for the next version of Windows please, please, please, don't make the WMP program indivisible from the OS. It's so much easier to uninstall and reinstall one faulty program than to reinstall your entire OS and deal with back up disks and things.
