I have a Gateway laptop with Windows 7 and a disc-drive that used to play Blu-Ray. Now it says "No disc in Drive D" when I insert a Blu-Ray disc. Regular movies play fine. I updated to Cyberlink 11 and also downloded the patch.

is there any way to get bluray disks to lay inside wmc?
so when i put a bluray disk in, nothings happens. i tried to play it through windows media player and it won't accept the file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOk, had some old parts lying around and built an HTPC with them, it is for streaming media, Blu ray and recording over the air hdtv signals. It is an Intel Pentium Dual core e6200, 4gb of ddr2 at 800mhz, 500gb wd 7200rpm as boot drive and 2tb wd green as data drive, Samsung blu ray drive, a RADEON hd 5650 1GB and it is all in a Silverstone gd-05. The blu ray drive came with cyberlink powerdvd 9 to play blu ray and every time I try and play a movie it crashes the software. When I ran the blu ray advisor it says the video card isn't fast enough. Is cyberlink lying or the software just that crappy?

This program was working until I encountered a small problem and was advised to uninstall the program and then re-install it. It did re-install but as mentioned in my opening statement the program will not open. All my other desktop icons open their respective programs.

So I have been trying to uninstall it to no avail. I've read some other posts online and they are very technical for me to follow. Anybody have a solution they can put forth in layman's terms. This week, rumors popped up again that Microsoft was working on a $100-$150 Blu-Ray add-on drive for the Xbox 360. And once again, the rumors are untrue.

I've been keeping an eye on these forums; I find that it provides the most succinct information regarding Windows 7.
I finally bit the bullet and made myself a HTPC running Win 7 RC 64-bit. The whole purpose was to play ripped DVDs (to VOBs) from my NAS, any downloaded shows (as AVI's) from my NAS, and hopefully BluRays via the BD-ROM (I have a PS3, so this was not the main reason).
It seems that I was able to get the first two objectives working without any work. All I had to do was install the latest Catalyst drivers.
However, I can't seem to get Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Ultra (or Windows Media Center) to play BluRays with anything more than 'stereo.' I've tried to research the topic, but there's just too many acronyms flying around (PAP, AAC, AC3, etc) that reading forums is like greek!
From my understanding, I know I can't get the DD TrueHD (or DTS-MA) to work via HDMI. However, I THOUGHT I could at least have PowerDVD "convert" (is the proper word downsample?) the DD TrueHD to a 5.1 Multichannel audio.
Am I completely wrong? Is what I want even possible?
I have a LAN and Homegroup and my wife's and my computer are connect. I also have a BluRay player connected via Ethernet cable to my gateway (cable modem + router), but I cannot see it (I can play Netflix movies on it, though). How can I add the BluRay to my homegroup so that I can play music from my computer to it (or rather to my amplifier via the BluRay)?

If I put a BluRay player in the new PC, will I be able to display it on the tv over the network or does the BluRay player need to be in the HTPC? The problem is I have two DVD Combo drives. Both of them are not working unfortunately. The drives will take the CD/DVD in but doesn't read anything. When I called a professional he informed me the computer is outdated and I need to update . So I took his advice and updated the MOBO and processor. I kept the other components as it is. After upgrading the drives were working fine. Then all of a sudden I have the same issues again. This time atleast I want to check with the great minds here to see if I can get a help. Lemme tell you I am no noob when it comes to computers but not an geek too. I know how to execute the solution you guys are gonna give me. Here is my config.

To give you heads up I have Googled the issue and found some so called solutions but nothing worked for me.
1. Changing the Link State Power Management settings.
2. There are no upper and lower filters so I couldn't do anything more.
3. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.
I have an Asus Essentio desktop and it didnt come with any Win7 discs. Is there anyway to extract Win7 and burn to a disc? I only ask because I want to rebuild my PC and wanted a fresh install without all the other software that came on my PC.
