View 1 Replies View RelatedFollow this thread from the W8 Forum,Works fine for me (and some others). I'm using W8 X-64 and the 64 bit version of VLC (2.0.5). Windows 8 blu ray player FREE,Same should work on Windows 7 -- can't see any reason why not (although I haven't actually tested it yet on Windows 7). If it doesn't work - I'm only trying to provide some info here for you -- VLC usually works for anything I've ever thrown at it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am able to playback .MKV files and ISO (Blu-Ray + DVD) but unfortunately I cannot play the Blu-Ray folders (BDMV + Certificate) folder and have the same with the DVD folders (Video_TS/Audio_TS). I receive the following message:"Cannot Play Video Windows Media Center cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct"Playback via TotalMedia Theatre works fine since I can open the disc folder but it fails via WMC7?
I am using:
Windows Media Center 7
MediaBrowser 2.3.2.0
Metabrowser 2.0
Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre 5
so what the heck, is cyberlink in cahoots with the media industry? should I not be able to run a 2011 bluray disk via powerdvd7.3 and have to chuck 100 bucks to get this working again? I have been able to run bluray in this version before (Terminal Salvation). I'm sorry I don't keep up with updates and just expect things to work, crazy consumer I am. It's not a defective ROM this LG CH08NLS10, so you can get that out of your pretty little heads right now ? is there any wonder why I haven't gone all Highdef yet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust an hour back, I stumbled upon this FreeSmith Free Video Player, that said it can play 200+ blu-ray movie disks. FreeSmith Video Player -- Free All-in-one media player Support Different Media Types Audio, Video, DVD, Blu-ray, all can be played smoothly with the smart FreeSmith video player. It supports almost all popular audio and video formats by default, including MKV, AVI, MP4, MPEG, FLV, WMV, HD and more. Besides, it offers you convenience to play DVD and blu-ray discs.
When the 8MB download completed, Windows 7 said that this type of file is not normally downloaded and can cause harm. But Softpedia had certified that it is free of any malware. ( I normally do not care for these warnings, smug in the fact that I can always restore my system in the event of any mishap and try all software but some people do take it seriously.)
OK, I played Night at the Museum 2 briefly and it did play the BD. ( My computer did not crash )So anyone wanting a free Blu-ray player can try this out.
But let me say, sooner or later you would like to changeover to the regular blu-ray software players which are a class apart. These freeware playerss can only be fillers.
Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360? Nope.
This week, rumors popped up again that Microsoft was working on a $100-$150 Blu-Ray add-on drive for the Xbox 360. And once again, the rumors are untrue.
Here's the official statement.
"As we've said before, Microsoft has no plans to introduce an Xbox 360 Blu-ray add-on. Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available." Read more at the source.
I've been keeping an eye on these forums; I find that it provides the most succinct information regarding Windows 7.
I finally bit the bullet and made myself a HTPC running Win 7 RC 64-bit. The whole purpose was to play ripped DVDs (to VOBs) from my NAS, any downloaded shows (as AVI's) from my NAS, and hopefully BluRays via the BD-ROM (I have a PS3, so this was not the main reason).
It seems that I was able to get the first two objectives working without any work. All I had to do was install the latest Catalyst drivers.
However, I can't seem to get Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Ultra (or Windows Media Center) to play BluRays with anything more than 'stereo.' I've tried to research the topic, but there's just too many acronyms flying around (PAP, AAC, AC3, etc) that reading forums is like greek!
From my understanding, I know I can't get the DD TrueHD (or DTS-MA) to work via HDMI. However, I THOUGHT I could at least have PowerDVD "convert" (is the proper word downsample?) the DD TrueHD to a 5.1 Multichannel audio.
Am I completely wrong? Is what I want even possible?
I have a LAN and Homegroup and my wife's and my computer are connect. I also have a BluRay player connected via Ethernet cable to my gateway (cable modem + router), but I cannot see it (I can play Netflix movies on it, though). How can I add the BluRay to my homegroup so that I can play music from my computer to it (or rather to my amplifier via the BluRay)?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHas any of you ever experienced this problem before, i set the DVD and bluRay drives to be associated with powerDVD however i have the following issue:Works:- If i insert the DVD/BluRay then powerDVD automatically launches - If i right click on the DVD/BluRay then i can select "Play with powerDVD" DOESNT work.If i try double clicking on the DVD/BluRay drives. If i right click on the drives and press play When i say it doesnt work i mean windows throws up an error saying: "This file does not have an associated program for performing this action.
