Jan 6, 2012how do i customize the "Computer Name" tab in System properties window (sysdm.cpl) windows 7.
I want to delete the "Network ID" and the "Change" buttons so the ability to change workgroup or domain through this tab will be disabled.

Viewing The Properties Of A Video File?
Feb 19, 2011When viewing the properties of certain video files, such as .ts, I am not able to see the details of the video file such as audio and video bitrate. Other files such as .avi show fine.I don't know if it's related but I am also not able to view the file extensions on these same files though I can see the extensions on most others. Folder options show I am set to view hidden folders and to show file extensions. It doesn't appear to be a virus problem as I have checked with a number of virus programs and verified they found none.

Aug 30, 2012I have a number of video, music, and picture files that I like to annotate with sometimes pretty lengthy comments. When I previously used Windows Vista, it seems that I could enter very lengthy comments under the "Details" tab of the file properties, and all of that information would be retained (and displayed in the details folder view). With Windows 7, it appears there is a much smaller maximum field length for the comments that are saved, and anything entered that is longer than that is automatically truncated. Is there a way (possibly a registry modification) that I can enter longer comments?

Oct 23, 2011I was trying to change a mp3 file properties > details, but it won't let me. There is nothing listed. When looking in explorer, it shows no album information or title. It does it with video files as well, so I am assuming all properties.
When I do change something from the bottom, it gives me error 0x80004005: Unspecified error. 'An unexpected error is keeping you from applying properties to the file' I used to be able to, so not sure what happened!
MediaMonkey can see the details, but every file on the computer, I can't see the details in explorer? Do I have to register some .dll? Regserv32 of some sort?
Music File Properties Not Saving From Windows Vista Comp To Windows 7?
Aug 14, 2012I transferd all of my music files from my old laptop whih is a toshiba windows vista. Most of the files have the artist, album and genre. Howvere, when i view them on my new laptop a lenovo ideapad iwndows 7, it isn't showing the properties for most of them...some yes...but very few. i just dont get it. I tried t save to a hard drive and then save to the new comp and to save to a flash drive and upload...same result both ways. I dont want to have to go through all 2000+ musc files and reenter all the properties..

If I double click the executable it takes over a minute before the program launches.Equally attempting to access the file properties takes a similar amount of time.(the file happens to be audioconverter.exe (part of a set of programs to re-encode mkv's - e.g. strip out of the dts track and reencode with ac3, etc.)Only files in this set of sub-directories seem to be affected, the rest of the machine performs perfectly

Nov 1, 2009Basically, all I want to be able to do is use the [ESC] button to close windows (ie Browsers,apps, games, anything that if selected and when a button is pressed will close it) in windows 7.
I always thought this would be good but is there anyway to make it do that from inside windows without some other software. If there isn't, then what other 3rd party programs can let me do this in Windows.
I have searched, not as heavy as I think i should, but all i keep seeing in Visual Basic and C++ programing, something I'm not good at.

Mar 10, 2012I've been thinking of getting myself a nice new wireless mouse and keyboard, and I've noticed some of the high-end ones have a lot of "customizable MMO gaming keys". The Naga Epic Razer is pretty impressive with a (supposed) 17 customizable keys.

Another neat item is the Corsair k90. I want this one for it's mechanical-switch keys more than for the gaming-keys. But if I can put those keys to use... it could be worth it.

What I would like to know is... in Windows 7 itself (not the games) can you use these type of keys for certain shortcuts? Like, when I'm on the desktop, I could open up frequently used programs, at the tap of a key on my mouse? Or if I start a movie in VLC, could I link the keys to volume, play/pause or fast-forward/rewind functions?
I do game, somewhat, but these are pretty expensive peripherals. If I did buy them I would want them to be of use beyond just games. But so far as I've searched, I haven't found any indication that the keys can be used for non-gaming shortcuts.

Aug 15, 2011After installing windows 7 x64 SP1 (Service pack only), System properties box/window won't open. As usual I right click on "Computer" - select "Properties" but nothing happens. There is a "Properties" option in right click menu, but it doesn't open anything.
There are other options I can not change like some Taskbar Properties options, I can install but when I click on Controll Panel -unisntall a program - nothing happens..... It looks like my Administrator account is kind of "limited". I double checked and it IS a Admin account.
Then I enabled Hiden Adminstrator account using windows 7 DVD Command Prompt. Still have exactly the same proplems as with my account.
Laptop came with Windows 7 Home premium preinstalled OEM Asus. Its a genuine copy straight from the manufacturer. I never reinstalled windows 7. I didn't have to, just working fine since always untill....Sp1 install Sp1 exe file downloaded from microsoft tried sfc /scannow with no success

1. XP Pro pc dies (Yayyyyy!!!!!!)
2. Removed HDD to export data to a HDD on a Windows 7-32bit (HDD is a hitachi deskstar HDT722516DLA380)
3.Connected HDD to the laptop via a USB kit i bought
4.Everything seems fine
5.Attempt to move files -Access Denied-
Heres my problem everytime i try to move anything it says its denied i give it admin but it doesnt copy it anyway. I go to folder properties and set the security to allow "Everyone" Full control but it still wont work it says access is denied and i cant apply it. I can go into an individual file and set security settings there and be able to retrieve it however it is inefficient to try to do this to the next 3000 or so photos/files. Can anyone reccomend me what i should do? or perhaps theres a program that

Feb 23, 2012when I retag my mp3 files using VLC or songbird, I realize that I cannot edit them in Windows 7 anymore. I can access the menu to do it (right-click -> properties) but all the fields are blanked off such that opening it in VLC, the song name will show but in Windows 7's file explorer; it will not show it.
Is there any way to rectify this? I did try saving them over using Adobe Audition (the only software I have that can do it) but that is a bit time consuming.

Sep 17, 2011I am not really worried about this, just curious. My OS is win7 and I just finished copying a few hundred music videos from some DVD's to my PC. I decided to look at the properties of one of the videos and this is what I find under the security tab in the Group or user names box.

I looked this up and found several bits and pieces of info but nothing to clearly describe what this is or why. These videos were downloaded and burned to DVD's on this same PC but an older OS, Win XP and a different user name. I am guessing this account unknown is because of the permissions granted by windows media player for the streamed info pertaining to artists and the names of their songs but I don't know for sure.
Windows 7 Ultimate - An Error Occurred While Setting Scanner Properties
Feb 25, 2012I just got a system running Win7 Ultimate and I hooked up my brother MFC 9700 multifunction printer; it does basic printing, but the front panel buttons to trigger a scan don't work. I tried installing the virtual machine, running the install disk from within XP, no luck. I shut down the virtual machine, then tried running "Windows fax and scan", it sees the device, opens up the "new scan" window - then gives me the error message "An error occurred while setting scanner properties. If another program is scanning, please wait for it to complete and try again." (I had reloaded MODI and MS Photo Editor earlier, could that be creating a problem?)
