View 4 RepliesI have created my own extension for a file, which when opened with a notepad, stores its content (properties) in xml format. I wanted to display these file properties in custom columns named like disk size, ram etc eg. like in windows virtual pc, the .vmcx machine has its properties in xml format, and in its folder, custom columns display its memory, status etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think I accidently changed a setting as I was customizing things. When I right click on a program and select properties, I'm no longer getting the window that normally comes up to let you change settings. If I hover my mouse over the Explorer icon on my taskbar, I can see the thumbnail view of that window. But I can't get it to expand.
Any ideas?
When I right click my window screen there no display properties appear....
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing windows 7 x64 SP1 (Service pack only), System properties box/window won't open. As usual I right click on "Computer" - select "Properties" but nothing happens. There is a "Properties" option in right click menu, but it doesn't open anything.
There are other options I can not change like some Taskbar Properties options, I can install but when I click on Controll Panel -unisntall a program - nothing happens..... It looks like my Administrator account is kind of "limited". I double checked and it IS a Admin account.
Then I enabled Hiden Adminstrator account using windows 7 DVD Command Prompt. Still have exactly the same proplems as with my account.
Laptop came with Windows 7 Home premium preinstalled OEM Asus. Its a genuine copy straight from the manufacturer. I never reinstalled windows 7. I didn't have to, just working fine since always untill....Sp1 install Sp1 exe file downloaded from microsoft tried sfc /scannow with no success

5.Attempt to move files -Access Denied-
Heres my problem everytime i try to move anything it says its denied i give it admin but it doesnt copy it anyway. I go to folder properties and set the security to allow "Everyone" Full control but it still wont work it says access is denied and i cant apply it. I can go into an individual file and set security settings there and be able to retrieve it however it is inefficient to try to do this to the next 3000 or so photos/files. Can anyone reccomend me what i should do? or perhaps theres a program that
i cannot access system or properties in windows 7. i can open control panel but from there nothing will open. i know hijack this will fix it but dont know which line to fix. unfortuneately hjt wont even let me save the txt file so i can paste it.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I retag my mp3 files using VLC or songbird, I realize that I cannot edit them in Windows 7 anymore. I can access the menu to do it (right-click -> properties) but all the fields are blanked off such that opening it in VLC, the song name will show but in Windows 7's file explorer; it will not show it.
Is there any way to rectify this? I did try saving them over using Adobe Audition (the only software I have that can do it) but that is a bit time consuming.
Here is picture if the menu in case I described it badly: (As you can see, I can click on the fields, but cannot type in them)
this may be similar to some of the problems already mentioned but: we are editing images as we have done thousands of times before but today for some reason when we hit it he apply button the image file disappears. We can restore the file but everytime today we try to edit the properties of the file
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am not really worried about this, just curious. My OS is win7 and I just finished copying a few hundred music videos from some DVD's to my PC. I decided to look at the properties of one of the videos and this is what I find under the security tab in the Group or user names box.
Account Unknown(S-1-5-80-random numbers...
I looked this up and found several bits and pieces of info but nothing to clearly describe what this is or why. These videos were downloaded and burned to DVD's on this same PC but an older OS, Win XP and a different user name. I am guessing this account unknown is because of the permissions granted by windows media player for the streamed info pertaining to artists and the names of their songs but I don't know for sure.
I upgraded to win7 professional with the anytime upgrade. Thought I could now encrypt files but there is no advanced button on the files properties.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a system running Win7 Ultimate and I hooked up my brother MFC 9700 multifunction printer; it does basic printing, but the front panel buttons to trigger a scan don't work. I tried installing the virtual machine, running the install disk from within XP, no luck. I shut down the virtual machine, then tried running "Windows fax and scan", it sees the device, opens up the "new scan" window - then gives me the error message "An error occurred while setting scanner properties. If another program is scanning, please wait for it to complete and try again." (I had reloaded MODI and MS Photo Editor earlier, could that be creating a problem?)
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to rename or create new sorting option with custom text ?there is a lot of categories, however i need to have my own custom labeled field then in the Detail view panel, by default, in the small size, there are these fields ready to edit:
- tags
- categories
- content status
the easiest way would be if i could rename those to my needs so it stays easily editable for the user?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup. Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently went through the Malware forum to get rid of some nastiness on my machine...and there appears to be one small casualty left to fix. I cannot get into System Properties any of the "normal' ways...-When I right click on "Computer" I do see "Properties" I click on it and the explorer window flashes once (like something tried to happen)-When I right click on "Computer" in the start menu, the start menu disappears (like it does when you open something)-When I use the keyboard shortcut (Windows key + Pause/Break) nothing happens. The only way I CAN get to system properties is by using the run command: "sysdm.cpl"

Some people are saying that I need to right click on the desktop and select it, but it isn't there when I right click.Basically, could somebody inform me on how to access the Graphics Properties so I can change my scaling settings please?

As the tittle says,I want to remove the properties feature because the feature isn't something I want to install.
Perhaps is caused by rootkit, however my ESET doesn't detect anything.
