I have created my own extension for a file, which when opened with a notepad, stores its content (properties) in xml format. I wanted to display these file properties in custom columns named like disk size, ram etc eg. like in windows virtual pc, the .vmcx machine has its properties in xml format, and in its folder, custom columns display its memory, status etc.
Is there a way to rename or create new sorting option with custom text ?there is a lot of categories, however i need to have my own custom labeled field then in the Detail view panel, by default, in the small size, there are these fields ready to edit:
- tags - categories - content status
the easiest way would be if i could rename those to my needs so it stays easily editable for the user?
I think I accidently changed a setting as I was customizing things. When I right click on a program and select properties, I'm no longer getting the window that normally comes up to let you change settings. If I hover my mouse over the Explorer icon on my taskbar, I can see the thumbnail view of that window. But I can't get it to expand.
Yesterday i installed my new Windows 7 64 bits OS on my PC after the 32 bits i used for years.I reinstalled drivers for my Realtek soundcard (Vista_Win7_Win8_R270.exe downloaded on the realtek website and even the 6305_Vista_PG537 to try it) and i have some difficulties using the equalizer whereas before I did not with the 32 bits.Indeed when i'm trying to set the 16k column on the Realtek HD Audio, after entering my choice, the settings of the 16k column change and only for the 16k column ! I tried to register several presets but everytime it goes wrong changing the 16k.
I'm looking to buy new DDR3 memory but I am totally puzzled by the CAS Latency and the numbers. It seems like the difference between a stick of DDR3 with 11 11 11 and 7 7 7 is only measured in nanoseconds, so how would the end user, we humans actually notice the difference between these specifications, or in fact can we at all.
Hoping Task Scheduler in Windows 7 is set up the same as Server 2008 R2. I'm trying to find out where I can get information on how to read the hexadecimal output in the sixth column, "Last Run Result". I know that "0x0" means completed successfully and "0x41325" means couldn't complete but I'd like to have a list of definitions for the others that might pop up instead of having to work them out.
Is there a way to reduce the column width in Explorer to something less than 80 pixels? Some of the columns contain information that can safely be displayed in 50 pixels or even 30 pixels, and I would prefer to use that wasted space for other columns (e.g. the Name column).
When listing the installed programs there is a column called 'location'. How and where does this come from in the installation program? In other words in Visual Studio 2008 where does one put this entry for the installation to cause it to show up?
I am trying to print a document in Excel Starter 2010. The document contains the columns A to J and rows 1 to 466. When I try to print the document, only one column prints per page. I have tried selecting all the columns and changing the print selection but this just shrinks the column size, and prints it smaller. How do I change it so that I can print all columns A to J on the one page?
the display/monitor uses the generic driver for display and it is 1024×768 or 800x600 but it looks very odd it should be bigger because my screen is bigger. I have a acer monitor but is there something I can download to fix the display size?
Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup. Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. I recently went through the Malware forum to get rid of some nastiness on my machine...and there appears to be one small casualty left to fix. I cannot get into System Properties any of the "normal' ways...-When I right click on "Computer" I do see "Properties" I click on it and the explorer window flashes once (like something tried to happen)-When I right click on "Computer" in the start menu, the start menu disappears (like it does when you open something)-When I use the keyboard shortcut (Windows key + Pause/Break) nothing happens. The only way I CAN get to system properties is by using the run command: "sysdm.cpl"
I'm running a game at the moment, which is leaving two black bars on either side of the screen when trying to play it. Anyway, I know that to fix this I need to go into the Graphics Properties and change some of the scaling settings. However, I cannot find the Graphics Properties anywhere. Some people are saying that I need to right click on the desktop and select it, but it isn't there when I right click.Basically, could somebody inform me on how to access the Graphics Properties so I can change my scaling settings please?
In this tutorial, we continue to explore the many features of Windows Explorer by taking a look at folder properties. We'll mainly be concentrating on how to customize folder types to make exploring your computer even easier.
i want to change the properties of an album like artists, tracks etc.but i can'tthe properties, it wonti think the problem lies hereiwent to help and support and read the following note: The Remove Properties dialog box only removes properties that were added using Windows. If you added properties using a different program, you must remove those properties using that program.

I triend uninstalling network card driver and reinstalling it but still same problem. This problem is happening with my both Wireless Network Adapter and Wired Lan adapter.
As the tittle says,I want to remove the properties feature because the feature isn't something I want to install.
Perhaps is caused by rootkit, however my ESET doesn't detect anything.
Look at screen-shot below, the properties option that I highlighted is what I want to remove, but I dunno the way to remove properties option. location where the properties feature located then I want to remove it as soon as possible. I try other AV because I just want to remove the option manually.
i'm looking for a way remove these options from my properties list.I want to remove the option where I highlighted, maybe there have some registry to clean up,please show me the way to remove these options
when I copied over fonts to the windows fonts and told it to replace the current font it didn't do what I wanted. For example I copied over a font with the name HS.ttf, and when I now look at the corresponding font it is called HS_1.ttf. I have a certain program that looks in the WindowsFonts folder for a font called HS.ttf and it currently can't find that file. I thought no big deal I'll just rename HS_1.ttf to HS.ttf. That's where I have a problem, when I try to do that it gives me the error 'Cannot rename HS_1: A file with the name you specified already exists. Specify a different file name.' When I do a search for a file called HS.ttf it can't be found anywhere. How do I go about finding and removing this HS.ttf and renaming my HS_1.ttf file so that my program can correctly find the font file I want it to?
I have vista 64-bit installed on my dell laptop and hope this is the right forum. I installed it a couple days ago after formatting everything on the hard drive. Now when I right click on my computer in start menu the properties don't pop up. I dislike vista already but is this vista-related? or infected? I don't think so, since I installed it a couple days ago after another virus had infected the system
This morning I attempted to view the properties of one of my drive in Windows explorer. Properties is a selection on the context menu, but clicking it does absolutely nothing. I have 3 drive in my system and the same behavior is true for all of them.To add to the mystery, properties works fine for files, directories and Computer. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 fully patched.
