Using Windows 7/64 Home Premium I am having the following fault: Any web site I try to access or any program I try to load. I have tried reloading without any success as it will not let me access anything.
View 3 RepliesI was browsing through my program files while working on getting Unreal Tournament to host multiplayer when I came across a folder called "DVD Maker."
I've never installed anything like it.I went to control panel, uninstall programs, and I did not find it.I tried to delete it and it says that I do not have permission to delete the folder, only "TrustedInstaller" does. I tried to give myself permissions, (I am on my administrator account) and it fails.
When I try to delete the normal way i get an error msg that says I need permission from TrustedInstaller. I get the same msg if I try to rename any of the files in this folder. I booted into safe mode and I get the same thing. I also used Revo Uninstaller and it looked like it worked, but the folder & files were still there. I also tried to delete in command prompt mode and got a "permission denied" message. I then clicked on the folder, then properties>security>edit. I got an access denied message. I also tried to delete TrustedInstaller in the list of users and got the access denied message.

I got a message saying I need permission from Windows TrustedInstaller.Having googled for help on changing permissions, I tried, but the options are greyed out. If such trivial changes are blocked, then I imagine that there are other things I can't do either.Is there a way round this without upgrading (definitely would not consider) or switiching to Linux (would consider if necessary).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an app that is supposed to run at startup. It has an option in it to "Start with Windows", but Windows 7's UAC insists on prompting me every time. I tried making a new task in Task manager to run it at startup, and using "Run with hightest Priveleges", but it doesn't work. The app just doesn't start at all. I am using an admin account, and I've disabled the "Start with Windows" setting in the app itself.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI once deleted Windows 7 installation files on one of my drives using a Linux distro. Now all the files appear in a folder named ".Trash-0" and now when I try to delete the folder it says "You need permission from trusted installer to make changes to this file". I tried deleting the folders using another Linux distro but the folder is nowhere to be found when I boot using a Linux distro. I guess this is happening because Windows doesn't let you delete windows installation files even if they do not belong to the current installation. Is there a work around for this?

I am getting the above message after troubleshooting. I have just switched to a new computer with windows 7 pre-installed.
All fine on old computer running XP Getting unidentified network + above error message. enabling/disabling card, checking for Bonjour service string and the like but no luck.
I started getting a "DNS not responding"? on my desktop. All my wireless devices work fine, and when I turn off my laptop's WiFi card and plug it into the same router it works as well.I've done some Googleing on the issue and none of what I found has helped.When I do an ipconfig on each maching, the thing I notice is that on the working laptop I have an entry for the "Connection specific DNS suffix under the "Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection", where on the desktop that's not working the suffix is blank.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?
I have a new Macbook running dual OS - mac and windows 7 home premium. I also have an ASUS running windows 7. When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. If I connect my ASUS to the ethernet cord, internet works just fine (running same software as the windows OS on my mac).
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe just switched DSL providers from MegaPath to Verizon.All the computers running windows xp connect to the internet just fine.The 2 with windows 7 won't connect.They did with our previous provider.If I go disable network card and next enable the network card I can get on the internet. Unfortunately, this has to be done each time you connect and if you leave the internet open it eventually disconnects.I ran windows 7 diagnostic and it says everything is fine.

With security set to WPA-P2k on XP, Laptop cannot find the Access point (i.e. TP Link Router). Both PCs have same Workgroup and the network setup has been transferred from the XP to the Laptop. WindowsXP works fine - why not the Laptop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 PC network (no WEP or WPA security) attached to a Thomson 760W wireless router with the latest Firmware (6.3.27.2)2 PCs (Angua and Carrot - dont ask!!) run XP SP3 (all latest updates); 1 PC runs Windows 7 Ultimate (all latest updates)There are no active firewalls,When all PCs have a wired ethernet connection to the network, everything (shares etc) works fine,When the W7 PC is connected to the network wirelessly ,W7 can access the shares on Carrot, cannot access the shares on Angua (). I suspect it cannot even see Angua and the reference is there from an earlier wired connection, cannot access a network drive that points to a share on Angua,Angua can access the shares on W7,A 4th PC running XP SP3 (not a normal part of the network) connected wirelessly can access Angua and can be accessed by Angua and the W7.W7 can ping Angua and the 4th PC (time=1ms)And Angua can ping the W7,I have the same items showing under the Wireless network Connection properties on both Angua and Carrot. They are Client for MS Networks File and Printer sharing QoS packet scheduler TCP/IP Under Network Connction details everything seems to be OK. The other computers in the household do not loose their connections, just the Win 7 one. I can reestablish the connection by doing a reboot or working through the network connection wizard. But, it's a pain in the butt to stop and reboot or spend 15 minutes working through the wizard. My computer is home built(me)with an athlon CPU and 4 megs of RAM. I have 2 other hard drives in this computer with other operating systems on them, Windows XP and Linux(Ubuntu)they do not drop the connection, just the Win 7 drive

I've tried downloading a few drivers on another machine and then just transferring them to the bad one but it's not working (3 separate ones now). View 1 Replies View RelatedI connected two notebooks via a TP-Link router (Wlan 54g). The first computer is a brand new Samsung RF511 Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with Intel I7, 8GB Ram. The second is a 5 year old HP Pavilion DV5000 device with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.
It dosent matter if i connect via Homegroup or direct over the network to the files. The speed of transmission between the two computers is about 3-400KB. Sometime, i get about 7-800 KB.
