View 3 RepliesI'm having problems with windows media player on windows 7. I've now had 4 fresh installs of 7 since its release (4 too many?) and every time i get the same wmp problem its either wmplayer.exe or the sharing service using 25%. I've disabled the media sharing service and disabled it in services window so it no longer runs, I only have one directory in wmp which is D:music on a separate drive from the OS no image or video libraries. Windows search indexer is also gone due to the total i/o causing a real slow system
All the download media info and other settings are disabled too, windows media player should just literally play my music and no more however this does not seem the case, it is also seems to be permanently trying to update my media library which it has done on all 4 installs too. Iremember having this problem too on XP MCE ? I am not sure if I have left any info out but basically I have tried everything I can so far and WMP will always uses 25% of my cpu even after its closed I usually have to kill the process manually.

I have two computers, one computer runs smoothly at a cpu level of around 10%, and has less RAM, hard drive space, and runs more cpu related tasks, it has a duel core 2.4, my other computer, however, runs at 100% all the time, no matter how many processes I kill in tskmgr.exe, it runs incredibly slow, it has a duel core 2.2. I've ran malwarebytes, CCleaner, registry cleaner, defrag, and it still runs at 100%, it didn't used to do this, it's happened for at least two months, but it keeps getting worse.

What I need to do to get my CPU running healthily. The highest process (CPU) Is Hamachi with 20%.
Sometime I do somewhat intensive processing that causes 85% of my 6GB ram to be used. But when 85% is being used, my machine completely slows down for all other tasks including very basic tasks like opening Windows Explorer. Surely the remaining 15% should be more than enough to open Windows Explorer without any latency. I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Also, I should state that the CPU usage is very low at these times.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy desktop computer fan runs incessantly. Even when it is in a cool environment, it runs almost constantly. Even when it is not supposed to be doing anything, it will be running. This drives me nuts; what can I do about it?
Also, as an aside, I have noticed that, when I access the Internet or something else on my *other* computer, a laptop, or even iPhone, on the same router network, the fan starts running on the desktop computer.
I have a dell optiplex 360 that is running windows 7. I added a video card geforce 7950 gt, at the time when I added this the computer was running fine for months. Then I upgraded the power supply to a raidmax rx730ss because the video card needed the 6 pin power supply that the old psu didn't have. After I installed the new PSU the computer would start running the post (dell logo screen) finish the load bar, go to a black screen then reboot and start running post again. the computer does this indefinitely as far as I can tell.I installed the old power supply and it did the exact same thing.

And It freezes constantly. I don't mean like ten minutes at a time, I mean till you forcibly shut the computer down. I have tried lots of things, memtest86, spyware, malware removal, the scan now option via cmd. Ive been told its probably a system file, but its not. It Usually only happens when the internet is involved. Webcam, minecraft online, that stuff
View 9 Replies View Relatedi found my computer is freezing all the time. I have had no problems with this up to now, but it's so bad, it's impossible to do anything. After i log in, the computer will freeze after a minute or two. Doesn't matter what i'm doing. I had a problem with freezing a year ago when i used an old Saitek joystick. I deleted the drivers and software and it worked fine after that. I was using that joystick again a month ago and the computer would still run fine. However, now, it doesn't. I deleted the drivers and software related to saitek and it still freezes without fail a minute or two after startup.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my computer starts out logging on, sometimes it'll take a long time on the splash screen, sometimes it'll freeze on the splash screen, but now more recently, it's just gotten to the splash screen, not turned off, and restarted itself back to the start screen. It comes up with the problem of Windows not shutting down properly and asks for system repair or normal startup, but system repair doesn't help at all because it gets to the background screen and system repair doesn't pop up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a really bothersome problem here, my computer is shutting down sometimes or either freezing and making weirds noises where i can't move even the mouse and i need to hard boot.
This freezes only happens when i turn on the computer for the firsts time of the day, it happens like 5-10 times and then he starts working correctly for the rest of the day, i don't have a clue what is happening, do i need to format my computer?
After i lock the computer and leave for a bit, i come back to find my hard drive spinning constantly at 100 % reading and writing, but when i touch the mouse and move it it immediately goes away.I've tried disabling the Search Indexer, but that hasnt seemed to stop it. Scheduled defrag is off too. It's an Asus G73JW Laptop?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am having a big issue with my computer. I originally ran windows xp professional until i upgraded to adobe cs5 and needed to switch to windows 7.now that i have windows 7 my programs stop working constantly. if i'm working in photoshop on a large photo the screen will go blank and a bubble will pop-up saying "driver stopped working but has started working again" and a lot of times photoshop, illustrator, and FL Studio will stop working and need to be shut down and started again. i've noticed sometimes when the computer is on overnight i'll wake up and it will be off. when i turn on the computer it will say that it didn't shut down properly. i was in the process of doing batch photo edits and it shut down on me right in the middle so i've got to figure out the problem. since i use this computer for freelance graphic design and photography. here are my specs.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my mouse, when I move it, it causes a CPU spike, in resource monitor, it calls the spike "system interrupt". I recently installed windows 7 and it has been this way since the beginning. Interestingly, when I click and drag, it becomes around 100% cpu usage. My idle cpu is 1-3%.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOut of nothing my CPU run at 100% and explorer was using 98%. I had to end task my explorer each time I try to delete files from desktop or when I refresh my desktop. I tried few ways including clean reboot (only system files running), clear temp data using ccleaner, scan using online scanner and vundofix (both didn't found any virus/trojan).

My computer is running all the time over 50%. AMD 4x, W764, 2x hd 1 tb, ram 8 gb. MS Office, CS5, acrobat, pinnacle, etc. I have Avast and MS Defender. I have made twice online scanning with Fsecure and AVG. I have made weekly scanning with System Mechanic, CCleaner, Adware and Spybot. Nothing serious found ever. This problem came when I changed the system hd (C:) 40 Gb -> 1000 Gb and reinstalled W7. Now the Hd (C:) runs all the time, but what? I stopped all Adobe programs (Photoshop / Acrobat) and this decreased cpu usage to about 40-60%. When only 2 services was running (Avast and CatalystContrCentr) cpu runs still too much 10-30%. I made a repair W7 installation, but nothing better.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSome days ago I noticed after a couple of minutes I start mi PC, my CPU usage goes to a constant 100% , so I checked for viruses and such but MSE gave me nothing and neither Malwarebytes. Here's the weird thing, I checked the Task Manager to see witch process was causing this and it's always a different process (Sometimes MsMpEng.exe, sometimes dwm.exe and even taskmgr.exe itself) so I started killing processes like a maniac leaving just the few essential ones but nothing changed. I also stopped all the services with a delayed start, since the problem starts after a couple of minutes but the problem was still there. My system restore is disabled.

Computer has been running slow, so this is what I come across: the Memory is Pegged at almost 100% usage. I've got 4 gigs and this is what it looks like right after startup. I also went into Norton and checked it and apparently my Ram has been like this almost for a month. (I got an SSD and did a clean install and it appears to have run ok for a few days and then you can see its pegged out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen idle, my cpu usage is around 20%, which is allot more than it should be in my opinion. Whenever I start a game, Battlefield : Bad Company 2 which is the game I've been playing allot lately, my cpu usage doesnt come down from the 90's %. It just stays there and it often goes to 99% and stays there, once again. I've been running the game at a 20 fps average. When I could run games like far cry 2, cod mw , nfs shift and so on with settings on high with an average of 40 fps.
