Computer Reboots On Startup Constantly
Jun 9, 2012
So my computer starts out logging on, sometimes it'll take a long time on the splash screen, sometimes it'll freeze on the splash screen, but now more recently, it's just gotten to the splash screen, not turned off, and restarted itself back to the start screen. It comes up with the problem of Windows not shutting down properly and asks for system repair or normal startup, but system repair doesn't help at all because it gets to the background screen and system repair doesn't pop up.

I've just moved from WinXP Pro to Win7 Ultimate with a clean* install and am getting strange rebooting behavior sometimes.
I've read the post "Random reboots in Windows 7 x64 - PSU issue?" but other OSs on my computer don't have a problem and I don't know enough about win7 boot mechanics. I've also run memtest enough to know it's not my memory.
Striker II NSE w/ Q9450
8 GB 1333 ram (4x2GB)
*My system is dual-booting with linux and linux runs very well with no crashes or rebooting. One thing though is that I can't install the Win7 service pack x64 because it's complaining about being unable to access the System Partition. Probably because I overwrote the MBR with linux for dual booting purposes, and yet half the time windows starts just fine.
It seems to happen only during startup or shortly thereafter. If I can make it 60 seconds past login then it seems to be okay.

Well, when I first start the computer the next day it restarts itself a few minutes after loading windows, then I go into safe mode and restart back to normal mode and the computer runs fine afterwards. It happens almost every time(on rare occasions it works fine) when I first start up the computer. It use to lock up instead of rebooting but that was solved when I uninstalled AVG anti-virus scan, so I have no idea whats happening.

I have Windows 7 on Intel D945GPM MB, 3 GB RAM. System always reboots itself several times duing startup (3-4 times, including 1-2 BSOD). Took 4-5 minutes. After 3-4 times, Windows 7 loads normally, then I can use it the whole day without any problem what-so-ever.
After I shut it down or go into hibernate, then I have to repeat this multiple reboots again each time.
I read extensively about it. If it is driver or hardware issue, I don't understand why it ends up stable after 3-4 times. I don't have any problem with any problem with devices after Windows loads up eventually. The reboots only happens during startup.
Safe mode or Windows repair does not make a difference. I tried them all. It is so strange. I just have to wait for system to reboots itself 3-4 times.

I have a Windows 7 installation that I seem to be in an 'endless loop' on. First off, if I just let the system reboot, it comes to the windows 7 splash screen and then reboots again. This will happen endlessly if I let it.If I hit F8 during boot up, I do get the Windows 7 menu. I have tried using the 'repair' options, but they don't succeed in solving the problem. I have tried going into Safe Mode and that also reboots after getting to the 'CLASSPNP.sys' driver (at least that's what it displays on the screen).
So I thought I would just 're-install' Win 7. I boot from my Win 7 DVD, and my options are 'upgrade' or 'clean install'. If I do 'upgrade', the DVD tells me that I need to start Windows first and then run Upgrade. Of course, I CANNOT do that since Windows 7 won't start! I'm afraid to do CLEAN INSTALL as I don't want to lose all the files

I installed a new SSD disk the other day, enabled AHCI and changed boot order so that the SSD was first and then booted with my Windows 7 DVD where I deleted the previous Windows installation that was on my regular HDD so that it became an unformatted drive. Then I installed Windows onto the SSD.
Now, sometimes when I boot my computer it reboots on the Windows logo only to go to recommend Startup Repair, but it works when I choose to boot normally this second time. Don't tell me I have to reinstall Windows just because I didn't unplug my two other (unformatted) drives when installing on the SSD?

My girlfriend's Dell Mini 9 netbook decided to start acting up recently. She turned it on, and it decided to run startup repair. The repair always fails for no apparent reason, and the computer shuts itself down. I tried running a startup repair from a Windows 7 repair disc. The repair from the disc claimed that it fixed issues, and yet when I started the computer up again it ran startup repair again. Its stuck in a cycle I cannot get past. I tried running system restore from the repair disc, but it always fails as soon as its finalized. asically, what the heck is wrong? I unfortunately have little software experience, the majority of what I know is hardware related.
I just ran startup repair from the disc again and read the error details. It says that the root cause is "startup repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem." It still says the errors were fixed. But after yet another boot-up, the repair still automatically runs and fails.etails of the failure:Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.[CODE]

I have a desktop computer AMD 3.0 ghz dual core processor, 4gb ram, win7 ultimate(legit), 1 TB HDD(new) and an asus m2n-mx se plus motherboard. every time I turn my machine on, it goes through the POST and finishes boot up sequences and then start to load windows. Some times it finishes and I get to my desktop while other times It reboots only seconds into the win7 loading procedures. this has happened for quite a while and I am beside myself for an answer. I have even flashed the ROM to update that. I have unhooked all drives except for one. I have even unhooked the DVD drive to eliminate that. still the problem is here. the only thing that I havent replaced yet is the motherboard, which I may do and get another video card and run dual video cards but I need this gremlin gone.

I have a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 mother board with a phenom II x4 965 3.4 with 2 4GB PNY sticks of DDR3 ram, all of which I just got from someone. Also a NVIDIA GeForce 440 connected to it at the moment for the graphics card and a 500 watt power supply. Two hard drives are connected to it, 1TB and a 80GB I use just to run windows off of. I have windows 7 Ultimate edition installed. The power supply graphics card and hard drives come from a computer that worked perfectly, and so did the cables FYI so I doubt any of those are the issues.Upon installing windows it froze, and rebooted, multiple times until during the instillation phase and first time set up boot. When I finally got it to install I constantly got the same problem where the computer would restart or freeze when I was doing something. Some times it would freeze/reboot when I opened a program, other times when I closed a program, sometimes when I just moved the mouse. It also restarts or freezes at boot sometimes when it gets to the window logo or Gigabyte splash screen. I have tried;
Switching the power supply
Memtest
Installing windows on another hard drive (It froze during install also)
disconnecting everything and plugging it back in multiple times...
Toying with the bios settings
[code]....

Yesterday I left my pc running, and when I came back, found a black screen.Rebooting, I came across some random characters in the POST and also in BIOS, after which, the same black screen. I googled this, removed the video card and the bios and post look normal now( i use the onboard video), but when trying to load windows, the pc reboots.I tried system repair, chkdsk. When trying to boot in safe mode, it loads up to "AtiPcie.sys", then reboots.

My window 7 updates will not install after the computer reboots after saying it is installing i get updates failed. I talked to techguru guys online and they said that I had many corrupt files and wanted $119.00 to fix it one time or $299. for a two year contract. While they were remotely using my computer I could see the corrupted 32 bit files in the registry. I dont know if this was true or if it was the reason that the updates do not install. and they said the corrupted files are replicating and will crash my computer.

My desktop computer fan runs incessantly. Even when it is in a cool environment, it runs almost constantly. Even when it is not supposed to be doing anything, it will be running. This drives me nuts; what can I do about it?
Also, as an aside, I have noticed that, when I access the Internet or something else on my *other* computer, a laptop, or even iPhone, on the same router network, the fan starts running on the desktop computer.

I have a dell optiplex 360 that is running windows 7. I added a video card geforce 7950 gt, at the time when I added this the computer was running fine for months. Then I upgraded the power supply to a raidmax rx730ss because the video card needed the 6 pin power supply that the old psu didn't have. After I installed the new PSU the computer would start running the post (dell logo screen) finish the load bar, go to a black screen then reboot and start running post again. the computer does this indefinitely as far as I can tell.I installed the old power supply and it did the exact same thing.

i found my computer is freezing all the time. I have had no problems with this up to now, but it's so bad, it's impossible to do anything. After i log in, the computer will freeze after a minute or two. Doesn't matter what i'm doing. I had a problem with freezing a year ago when i used an old Saitek joystick. I deleted the drivers and software and it worked fine after that. I was using that joystick again a month ago and the computer would still run fine. However, now, it doesn't. I deleted the drivers and software related to saitek and it still freezes without fail a minute or two after startup.

Computer rebooted after 'starting windows' When starting in safe mode, it rebooted after loading classpnp.sys
This happened after I installed MSE and it detected a Trojan located in c:/windows. On hindsight deleting it was a bad idea.
I've tried using startup repair as well as sfc/scannow. I've also ttried unplugging the hard drives as well as changing the hard drive mode in the BIOS from ide to ADHCI and back.

In the last 2 days, my computer has been restarting whenever I loaded a level in a video game. Event Viewer shows Kernel Power critical errors (41, task 63). Basically, the error says something about insufficient or unstable power supply or whatever. I have a Corsair VX450 which is around 3 years old. I have a Geforce GTS 250 GPU, running at decent temps. My Q6600 also has good temps, so I think we can rule temps out as the source of the problem.
I will elaborate a bit more about the symptom: When a level is done loading and I hit START or whatever to start playing the level, that is, when the GPU kicks in, the PC reboots. I do have two audio drivers installed - one for the build in sound card and another for the non-built in one. I need them both, and I've had them both installed and running simultaneously since day one of using this PC. I did disable the built in one's driver, though. Is it possible that my PSU is no longer able to supply my GPU with the required power?
