In Windows XP I could choose an item from taskbar buttons' list by clicking on the button and after the list appeared by typing its name's starting character/characters. But in Windows 7 the list just disappears after pressing any key on the keyboard! Is there anyway to enable that feature in Windows 7?

I want to pin any item to my taskbar in windows 7.
Like when i drag a folder,picture etc it pins itself to windows explorer. Is there a way for it to have its own icon and launch itself.
The problem: all the buttons from the taskbar are disappeared. I try to put them back but nothing. When I try to pin a program shortcut, appear that it is already pinned, but I can't see it.I tried with quick launch, they apear, but when I start a program the button is not activated.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem where any subcategory links in control panel wont seem to open at all when clicked on. Everything else opens fine. For example, clicking on "System and Security" or "Network and Internet" works fine (the main categories) but if I try to click on "un-install a program" or "add a device" for example (the small text sub category links) they don respond with anything.I have tried Google searching for a solution but cant seem to find anything of use.

At first everything seemed perfect but then I started realizing that the master category list is not there. Also, the address book had none of my addresses associated with the entries. Only new ones appeared and then not in their proper categories. What can I do to remedy this situation? I feel the categories and addresses must be somewhere in my computer because when I open a contact, I can click on the email icon and send mail.

I spent a lot of time in developing a long category list, for use in my calendar, but mainly to group and filter my contacts.I want those categories to appear in a specific (grouped) order, for easy navigating in the long list. I used symbols to create groups: Ⓒ for countries, Ⓟ for people, Ⓧ for companies, etc.After assigning a number of categories to a specific contact, I assume these categories will be displayed there in the same sorting order as the master category list. But that is not the case. Both in full individual contact views as in list/table views the categories seem to be quite randomly displayed. For instance: if i assigned:
! important, country, people, company, inactive
The result(s) in the various views can be completely different:
country, ! important, company, inactive
! important, company, inactive, country etc Unassigning and then re-assigning a category to a contact did not make a difference.
How to FORCE outlook to obey the sort order of the Master Category List?
in Outlook 2010 I have a large list of contacts all divided into categories with 50+ e-mail addresses each. I normally select the category and create a new e-mail for these contacts, paste a signature of text to the e-mail, copy/paste the subject and mark the e-mail with high importance and confidential. Is it possible to create a new e-mail with the categories/e-mail addresses I want to send to and upload a template to paste the e-mail text, subject, high importance and confidential?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that my WLM categories were somehow corrupted and missing some names. When I click the category on the left, in the list of names on the right they are all there. However when clicking edit I notice some addresses are missing. They are also missing when attempting to send mail. When I add the missing addresses and click save they are not actually saved. I tried deleting the category and making a new one and that seemed to work for a while but the next time I logged onto WLM the same names were missing again.

In Vista, I just told the indexing service to search only in the start menu folder, and monitored the folder myself (added and removed shortcuts as I wish). It was great, and it replaced Launchy very comfortably. I made shortcuts to folder locations on my computer for very quick access (Start+mus+enter would open my music folder, etc.)
In Windows 7, the shortcuts to folders will fall under the "files" category (instead of the programs category), which takes about 4-5 seconds just to show up, even though my whole index (just the start menu folder) is only 73 items (shortcuts), and pressing enter would open up the 'See more results', instead of the first entry. Basically, the start search looks at program shortcuts first, and considers other shortcuts to be normal files. Is there anyway to make the start search consider all shortcuts like program shortcuts?
BTW, if anyone can tell me why I can't edit my sig with WYSIWYG or with tags (as you could in Vistax64 forums), I'd appreciate it a lot.
We are using Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010 clients. There is one user that is having issues with categories. If she assigns categories to emails, and locks/unlocks her machine, the categories are no longer assigned to her emails.
We have tried:
-new machine- she needed a laptop anyway.
-deleted AD account and re created
-deleted and re created mailbox
I've tried installing Office 2010 SP1, updating BIOS and all drivers..
I am going to order my free windows 7 upgrade . The problem is i want to choose different language for order (my current language is russian and i want to install english). Will i have any problems if I choose another language? Has anybody expirience about ordering windows 7 upgrade with other language? I really need your help, because i dont want to spend 20 bucks (for shipping) and find out i throw away my money and free copy of windows 7.

Previously, I just sort of looked at each of my available motherboard options, and chose which one had the requirements I was looking for. However, my friend is on a budget, so I feel like buying a specific chipset might be a better, cheaper option (instead of buying one with the ports that he wants, but with other ports he doesn't need).Is there an easy way to compare the different chipsets? The Wikipedia article is somewhat useful, but also seems to have some inconsistancies (I own a Z68 motherboard with USB 3.0 support, something the Wikipedia article doesn't list). It is going to 1920x1080 which looks awful since it is not its native setting. I wanted it set to 1360x768 which looks the best. Does anyone know why my TV is doing this? I plugged his hard drive into my computer to access it. I successfully installed windows to his hard drive form my computer. I then removed the drive and will place it back in his computer soon.now when my computer boots it tries to boot from the Windows 7 installation I did to his hard drive. I get an error saying that the drive has been removed or is not accessible or whatever. Obviously that's because I removed it.can I change the default OS to boot from? I need help choosing a decent vcard for online gaming. Games like Lineage II, LoL, Bloodline Champions, Dragon Nest... i dont mind playing with low details, i just like to have smooth gameplay and I usually don't play full screen unless it has no option to play windowed.Seeing on the system specs they usually have for minimun requirements for the games i download is the geforce 6600 gt, though, after asking my pc tech friend, he said that card is old so people dont sell it anymore and he suggested the GT430. After some googling, it seems that many people came to agree that the GT430 isnt good for gaming and they gave comments saying at least get a GTX460 for decent gaming. I am currently using internet on DSL on Local Area Connection. It is not a dial up connection. I also have a WiFi access point. Now, I want my all the applicatons like browsers, Yahoo, Live Messenger etc. to use internet through LAN as usual but there is this application for which I want to use internet for through WiFi, not LAN. Just like Proxy Firewall, you choose for different applications the different proxies. Like this, I want different connections for different applications.
