View 0 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to change my user account picture in the control panel, it worked, and it showed up in the start menu, but it didn't change in the logon screen (still dell default icon). My system is Dell precision M6600, win7pro 64-bit. My user account has administrator right (in fact I am the only user).
View 9 Replies View Relatedi am currently using windows 7 home premium 32 bit and having problem with changing size of user account picture.
what it is is when i change the 128 x 128 picture's size to 64 x 64 and set it as user account picture and see the log on screen, it doesn't actually shrink. instead what i am getting is a blurry version still with the size of 128 x 128.
Can I set my User Account picture in Windows 7 animated? If so, how.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. I used the Easy Transfer program to migrate my files. I reinstalled some of my software before moving my user settings back onto the system.
I went in to change my User Account pictures and there is no option to save changes to either account. It shows the picture selection but no Save Changes button at the bottom of the window.
I'm back to hating Microsoft unless this is my user error. (and using Windows doesn't count as an error)
The upgrade has been working pretty well for Microsoft and I'm really pleased with the improved performance but get irritated by the little challenges.
Any suggestions?
I changed my user account name on Windows 7, and now the account is inaccessible. I have another account on the computer, but I cannot change the name back. Is there any way to make the account accessible again without re-installing Windows? If not, would a full back up from the other account back the data on the inaccessible account up as well as the other account's data?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy account was an administrator account, but since I made a Guest account then my admin account has been restricted as well and I cannot change the security settings nor through safe mode, nor built-in admin account and nor using netplwiz. There all always some files or folders that are not accessible. Unfortunately they are a lot. Also I tried everything while I removed the guest account but the problem still persist.

Changed User account name in Control Panel but the User folder in explorer remains the same. No option to Rename at rightclick. I notice in User Accounts it says the name change is for Welcome screen and Start Menu. Why can't we change the User folder name?Is there any option besides to delete account and start over? It is the only account and Admin. Will we lose anything other than files in User folders?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome background first. I have three 1920x1080 monitors. The central monitor is Landscape. The two side monitors are portrait, used for working with web browsers, code, communication.I find it easer to deal with large amounts of text in portrait, where I can continuously track a lot of text without tracking back and forth across the entire width of a widescreen monitor. So, I'm trying to set a background. It works fine. It's abstract-ish, so I set the 'stretch' option. That works fine on the central monitor. On the two side monitors, the image is compressed between the left and right sides of the screen, but does not stretch to reach the top or bottom of the screen. The extent that they seem to extend up and down seem to exactly match the dimensions and alignment of the central screen. If this is so, then it would mean that on the portrait monitors, the background is filling a 1080x1080 block in the center of a 1080x1920 display. The only thing that functions properly is 'Tile'. None of the other options seem to produce any change in the image displayed.

When I did my initial install of Windows 7 (fresh install) I created my Administrator account with the name of "Denis". I would like to change the name of the Administrative account to "denisl". I went into control panel and changed the account name, which worked, but the folder remained named as "Denis" under the "users" folder. How do I rename the folder named "Denis" to "denisl
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought an HP Pavilion floor demonstration computer from a general retailer. The salesman assured me that all previous user accounts and information had been removed and the computer restored to its factory configuration before I took delivery. However, when I boot it up from a cold (power off) start, I get an error saying that the password entered for user Kiosk is invalid. Kiosk is apparently the name of the default start up user account. My workaround is simply to switch users to the administrator account. The Kiosk account does not appear in the list of user accounts in the 'add or remove user accounts' tab in the control panel. The Kiosk file folder in the Users folder is empty. How can I change the default start up user account? The store did not create a password reset disk.

View 15 Replies View RelatedHow can I change the position of the folder in Windows 7? Example: If there are three folder in the drive; Suppose the following names:
1 - A

If I want to change their arrangement i.e: I want to place the folder C instead of folder A. But when I do it i.e:by dragging it. It says: Move to A. So how can i do it?
A few days ago (16th July 2012) the Resident Shield of my AVG Internet Security 2012 reported an issue with the 'Services.exe' file located in C:WindowsSystem32 - specifically stating 'Trojan horse dropper.Generic_c.MMI' and saying that the 'Object is white-listed (critical/system file that should not be removed'.
I use the following command in the cmd box: "sfc /scanfile=c:windowssystem32services.exe". After doing this I had no more problems reported with services.exe.
Problem 1:However, now, my desktop icon arrangement has reset and grouped to the left side of the screen. I can re-position each icon however, upon reboot or the desktop Refresh command all Icons return to the left - to exactly the same position. Auto arrange icons is turned off and align to grid can be turned off however, it keeps turning itself on upon reboot.Icon re-positioning was always retained previously - this problem has only just appeared.
Problem 2:Upon double-clicking the desktop Computer icon I am now unable to permanently set the view from 'Tiles' to 'Details' (I can, temporarily) - this was never the case until the issue above (i.e. all explorer/folder views were permanently set to detail via 'folder options/view/apply folders').So, something has changed very recently. I've ran full scans using avg (virus, tracking and rootkit), malewarebytes mbam, spybot but the problem persists. I've re-checked system files using 'sfc /verifyonly' and no 'integrity violations' were found.

I am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I'm hoping to teach Mum how to use my PC in the near future and she will only be using it for typing etc and maybe the internet. Also she only use it sometimes. shall I create a Limited User Account for her or turn on the Guest Account?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would appreciate any help identifying the cause of extremely slow log on times for a user account on our family laptop. The machine is running Windows 7 - 64-bit version, and currently has 3 users accounts 2 admin and 1 regular. The regular account has begun to experience log on times that last for minutes (The Welcome splash screen prior to log on screen), while the admin accounts have no problems. I have seen other posts regarding slow log on times, but I haven't seen those which address the issue for a specific user account.
