Changed User account name in Control Panel but the User folder in explorer remains the same. No option to Rename at rightclick. I notice in User Accounts it says the name change is for Welcome screen and Start Menu. Why can't we change the User folder name?Is there any option besides to delete account and start over? It is the only account and Admin. Will we lose anything other than files in User folders?

My problem is i have 3 accounts registered and i am the administrator.The other 2 are user accounts.I use to awhile back be able to access the "change your user account,Change your account type,and manage another account" feature.I cannot for some reason any more,i click the short cuts and nothing happens.I tried searching the net and didn't find anything that could help me out.

View 0 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I just got a new desktop, I originally planned on sharing a user account but since we're both in school I figured to have our own user accounts just to keep our files more separated and everything. So I created a second user account for me. I then realized that since he uses MY iTunes account, it makes sense that we use a shared music folder. Somehow I effed up my folders, the Public Music folder in particular. The only way I could see how to fix it was to restore it. Well that fixed the music folder problem, but it restored the computer back to before I had set up my own user login. No problem, I went back in and re-created it. Now my problem is that the user accounts are just fine, but the user folder from my first account is still in the the C drive under "users" but technically there is no user account that's attached to it. And of course, the folder is locked. I tried to delete it, but got a popup saying I was about to delete a system file so How to I remedy this situation???

I bought an HP Pavilion floor demonstration computer from a general retailer. The salesman assured me that all previous user accounts and information had been removed and the computer restored to its factory configuration before I took delivery. However, when I boot it up from a cold (power off) start, I get an error saying that the password entered for user Kiosk is invalid. Kiosk is apparently the name of the default start up user account. My workaround is simply to switch users to the administrator account. The Kiosk account does not appear in the list of user accounts in the 'add or remove user accounts' tab in the control panel. The Kiosk file folder in the Users folder is empty. How can I change the default start up user account? The store did not create a password reset disk.

Everything works fine, except now whenever I install a program, it recreates the previous user folder in C:Users(old username) to extract the installation files.I'm wondering how I would go about changing the default directory to prevent this from happening, and whether there are any other problems similar to this that I might encounter?

When I was using Windows 8 I Changed the location of my music library to my user folder on my windows 7 partition. Now when I boot in windows 7 the folder that was previously named after my username is now titled "my music" All of the contents of my users folder are in the folder. A twist on the creation of user folders on a drive other than C: in Win 7 Ultimate. Does anyone know if one could designate a user folder location such as E:Data instead of using the users name and being a subdirectory of "Users". I am the ONLY one on my computer - and it would seem much easier to look to the top folder in the E drive than clicking thru E:, users, name, documents, project. I fully realize that I can set up shortcuts, but when you are in an application that wants to place a file somewhere else and presents you with an explorer windows it is a pain. The only method I thought of is using redirection with symbolic links.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I'm hoping to teach Mum how to use my PC in the near future and she will only be using it for typing etc and maybe the internet. Also she only use it sometimes. shall I create a Limited User Account for her or turn on the Guest Account?
