I'am using windows 7 ultimate 64b, google chrome and kaspersky internet security 2012 and when I save an application file, I cant open the file and it is followed by win msg saying ''Windows cannot find (file pathway). Make sure you typed the file name correctly, and then try again''. When I go to downloads in chrome, the 'attempts' are still there and allow me to try and download them again but with the same error msg. I'am sure this must be a security setting in either windows, internet security or the browser itself (least likely in my inexperienced opinion). Also if this helps, it allowed me to download and open a picture file and a video file from a newly saved file destination no problem. changing the file destination doesn't seem to make any differences to saving an application file either.
I have downloaded CamStudio -- a video recording app -- which is doing something very strange. I would have thought it was CamStudio's fault, except that another app, an IDE, was doing the same thing yesterday, so I think it is something wrong with my setup. When I create a video file through CamStudio, it asks me where I want to save it. It does save the file, however the file will not appear anywhere EXCEPT inside CamStudio. In other words, if you are looking at the folder through the Save As dialog in CamStudio, the file is there, with a padlock icon. If you are looking at it through normal explorer, it will not be there. It's not a hidden file. It's not on a network. It doesn't matter where I save the file. You can see the file through CamStudio's Save dialog, but you can't copy/paste it out -- Windows just complains that the file is "no longer there". If you try changing ownership, you get an error message that the ownership cannot be changed because the file doesn't exist.But. It. Does.Command Prompt doesn't show it, administrator or not. /takeown doesn't work.I should note that I *can* get around this, if I run CamStudio as Administrator -- my file doesn't appear, but newly saved files are created as normal. But I really shouldn't be having to grant this program special privileges just to save a file. It's almost as if it's running CamStudio under a different user name, but there isn't one. This is a single-user machine (not counting the inactive guest account). I don't get it.
Sometimes if I open a file by double clicking it in windows explorer, it will sit doing nothing (and that explorer window is then tied up) for a few minutes! Then the file opens normally in the correct application. But opening the application first, and getting it from the file open menu, or dragging the file into the open application is ok. The problem goes away if I reboot windows, but can come back again later for no apparent reason.
I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I boot from my CD drive, Windows loads the files and then the blue background comes up but there is nothing to click on.Basically I get to step 3 here but have nothing to click on to continue. Clean Install Windows 7
I've just installed Movie Maker, & it stops when I try to load some AVI files (a flight sim flight) I've made using Fraps. I can load photos alright but not my AVI files.
I've just installed the Windows 7 RC on my lab-pc. It's a 2,4GHz Celeron, 1GB DDR-RAM, everything installed on some old 160GB PATA-HDD. Two hi-speed USB Keys are used for ReadyBoost (love that feature).
Everything works like a charm, except the file transfer from my WXP machine.
I mount the SMB share (which is on my WXP) from the Windows 7 machine and start to copy some big files. Transfer speed is ~1MB/sec on 10MBit, ~5MB/sec on 100MBit and ~11MB/sec on 1GBit. When I start file transfer the CPU load pops up to 50% while 10MBit is active, for 100 and 1000MBit it jumps to 100% and stays there until the transfer is over.
Since I read about IRQ issues I tried some NICs. An onboard SiS-900, an RTL8139 based PCI card and an Intel Pro 1000/MT Desktop adapter. I thought that - at last - the Intel NIC should stop my problems as it comes with IRQ moderation and TCP/UDP checksum offload.
None of these 3 NICs solved my problem.
All these NICs run on the driver Windows 7 has found for them. None of the vendors had a special driver for me.
What I tried to do in addition:
- disable Windows 7 firewall
- disable IPv6
- disable QoS
- tried another CAT5e cable
- restart the switch (Netgear GS108)
- hit the whole machine
Note of the above worked.
I just hope you just have an idea left for me. Just ask if I missed out some details.
Our office has an old program that we still need to use when upgrading our PC's to Windows 7. The program will run fine if you start a windows virtual PC and install and run it. However, based on the needs of our office, I need to be able to run Windows XP mode and simply have an icon for our users to click to take them to the application. If I install the program in windows XP mode, and then add a shortcut to the file under all users/start menu, a shortcut is placed in the appropriate place on the windows 7 machine and I can copy that shortcut ot the desktop. The program runs fine until you restart the computer. Once you restart the computer and double click the link on the windows 7 desktop to the program running in windows XP mode, it says:
Cannot start virtual application. The application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
I read some other posts saying to put a new shortcut in the all users/start menu folder. This works, but only until our users restart their computer. The next time the computer is up, the problem happens again. This is not an acceptable solution to have to create a new shortcut for each workstation each time the computer is restarted.
I added a second machine to my home network, and want to share files back and forth between machine A and machine B. Both are Windows 7 x64 ultimate. I have a shortcut on B's desktop to a folder located on A called "sharedfolder". When using system B and I click in Asharedfolder, I can then click on a pdf, or an avi, or txt, or whatever, and it loads just as quickly as if the file were on B's hard drive. But if I click on an exe file, it take about 15-20 seconds to load. No prompt, no nothing, it just takes that long. It happens with or without no antivirus running.
I edited a 2 minute piece on AVID Express Pro. Downloaded the piece to a Sn Disc and took it to another PV that runs Windows &...I've tried to upload the video to You Tube and get the "no disc" error. The computer that I used to create the video is operated by Windows XP.
after loading my recovery disc on acer 5534. after all files load it freezes at restore progress screen. If I try restart BOOTMGR missing ctrl alt dlte
yesterday i was watching a show on my computer (sony vaio) and it kept freezing and lagging and wouldn't restart so i manually restarted it. when i tried to turn it on it would say "starting up windows" but it would take to long and it would restart again with error repair. when i would load error repair it would say it's loading files but only a background screen would show and no files.
The error states:explorer.exe - application error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application. When I click OK, i just have a black screen. I can get the task manager going by hitting control, alt, delete. I've tried to start explorer.exe from the file menu, but get the same error.
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click on OK to terminate the application. The only option is to click ok. I am deathly afraid to turn off my computer because my brother recently did and that caused it to freeze at the blue HP startup screen, but thats another thread. I get this error whenever I launch anything. I can't even open up the task manager. I really need help. I don't currently have a way to back up my stuff either but I am working on it. By the way, I don't know that my brother was having the same error message as i was or if he was having any error messages. I use zone alarm full security suite if that helps at all, I don't know if it deleted a registry file or something.
I tried to replace 3 files in the system 32 folder, and must have made a mistake along the way leaving my laptop inaccessible once logged on. The three files were:
uxtheme.dll themeui.dll themeservice.dll
I received these error messaged when logged on:dwm.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application.explorer.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application. Can system restore revert back the files so it was like i never attempted the patch?
I don't what happened but all of a sudden a message box opens up on my windows 7 laptop and it says this " the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application" . I clicked ok but the error message box keeps returning back.If i remember properly, this happened when I tried installing some wallpaper.system seems to be working finw with all applications, but this message box is quite annoying.
I've created a guest account on my PC (no admin privileges). When I open the Media Player in the guest account, the library is empty. How to load music files.
And now I am so screwed. I can't even open services.msc, I can't install an update, I can't run updates and I can't re enable anything because I can't get into services to do it. Please don't say system restore because I disabled it.
I was just wondering if it is possible to reverse engineer a 32-bit application and recompile it as a 64-bit application. If so, would it still function?I don't know if talking about reverse engineering is acceptable in this forum or not. If not, my apologies. Also, I don't exactly know how "legal" it is or if it's against any EULAs.I'm a heavy browser user. I use Firefox Nightly and constantly have several tabs open. I also run several different applications at once and occasionally Skype. I'm CONSTANTLY hitting the 32-bit barrier for RAM (can't remember if it's 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 GB) and I still have more RAM on my system. I'm thinking the video quality on Skype starts going south when I run low/out on addressable memory since it's a 32-bit application
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. I've been using it for some time without problems, but this morning I was unable to get on the Internet. Yesterday I'd installed an update for ZoneAlarm which I thought was probably the problem, so I uninstalled in and downloaded and installed PC Tools Firewall Plus instead. no my computer will connect to the Internet OK, but whenever I try to open most programs, I get the following error:"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application."The only two exceptions I've found are Microsoft Security Essentials and Internet Explorer which both work fine.
I'm trying to run a .bat file but when i start it cmd won't start and it gives the error message"The application was unable to start correctly (oxc0000142). Click OK to close the application."
I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal. First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.
Im having a couple problems with my computer, firstly when i boot up The icon for the LAN onnection has a red cross to say its not connected even though it is and it will recognise that it is after approx. 5 minutes and will only say network instead of the actual name if my connection (network99) secondly when i log on from booting up the desktop take a while to load and all the icon thumbnails load slowly one at a time and its really slow.
Recently my computer is always at 100% even when no apps are running. But as soon as i run Task manager load reduces. This doesnt happen in safe mode. Im sure that this is a virus. When i scan my computer with Avira Antivirus (Free) it doesnt detect anything
I have an application that is set to always be on top of all others. Ive looked through all the options in the application and there is not one to make it not be on top of all other windows. I have also asked the maker of such software and they have said that there is no way to not make it ontop. does anyone know a way to make another application come ontop of this one or a way to get it to where I can use the other application? the application Im using is a medical application and the manufacturer is not helping at all. the application I want to use isnt harmfull and it is job specific.
I need to run a program from a server in a mixed Windows XP and Windows 7 environment. The current policy is to have the Windows 7 UAC turned to 'Never Notify' as the logon script needs to make changes to registry, etc. The program will only work with Windows 7 if the UAC is turned on. Is there a way of activating the UAC for this one program only?
I'm looking for an application that can log all changes to a PC in the files/folders and registry when any application is installed or uninstalled. If an application gets installed, I need to know exactly what changes were made to the system. The systems will be using Windows 7 x32 and x64 bit. Does anyone know of such an application?
I had a malware/spyware problem and used antisuperspyware to fix it but after deleting the detected files now I cannot open any .exe file directly when I try it gives me application not found error or which of the following programs u want to use to open the file ,I cannot even open IE or firefox ,what should I do?
I can't open any application. I don't know what happen. Whenever I open an application, It was open with Internet explore. All of my icons are appear with Internet Explore icon.
