i have a acer 5515 and i cannot get the touchpad to work , it worked sometime ago but now i cannot get it to respond , because of this i changed the os from vista to win 7 but it did not resolve the problem.I already tried Fn + F7 and got no response.
View 8 RepliesI have an Acer Aspire laptop that is giving me problems. When I use the touchpad it is like it is on auto-pilot. I move it around and it just starts clicking on every icon it hovers over. When I press F7 AND FN IT DISAbles the touchpad and I can use it fine with the mouse. Is this something that is wrong with the mouse/touchpad settings, a Virus or something else I am not considering. It is actually doing the same crazy stuff when using an external Mouse. It is just clicking things automatically when I move over the icons. It is also happening in safe mode. It is like the Laptop is on steroids. Suggestions ; Software, hardware or a virus. I just replaced the screen on the Laptop
View 2 Replies View RelatedI put Win7 on my Netbok (Acer D150) and it runs extremely well, probably because of the extra 1GB of RAM that I put in it. It actually runs better than XP. My only gripe with having Win7 on it is that I cannot use the scroll feature on the touch pad. It's not really important but its nice to use when I am a touchpad fanatic.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an Acer Aspire 6530 laptop, which comes shipped with Windows Vista x86. I promptly made the restore DVDs, and installed Windows 7 x64, with no issues, except, one rather important one: the TouchPad driver does not work.
When Windows first booted, the driver that comes with Windows worked fine. You did not get the scroll functionality from the side of the pad, which is meant to act like a scroll, but it recognized movement and the two click buttons. After getting on the Internet, Windows automatically went out and found the Synaptics TouchPad driver for me.
Now, according to Device Manager, the driver will function after a restart. TouchPad works fine, go to restart, driver is applied, and.. nothing. The mouse will not move. Any USB mouse if plugged in works fine, but the click buttons and the movement on the pad do nothing.
If you go into Device Manage and uninstall the device, the TouchPad works again! It seems whatever TouchPad drivers that are loaded with Windows 7 work like a charm, besides the built in scroll area, work wonderfully, but the driver that it automatically downloads/installs on boot does not after restarting and applying that driver, even though the device is fully functional according to Device Manager.
Is there any way to FORCE the built in Windows 7 drivers, or a known fix to get the normal ones to work? Does this have to do with 64bit vs 32bit at all?
Note: I have downloaded the driver from the Acer website for Vista and ran it in compatibility mode for Vista, with no change, so it is not just the one Win is automatically finding.
Note2: I tried booting without any internet connection after disabling the driver, but Windows went ahead and installed the driver anyway. It was either still downloaded, or in fact comes with 7 and is not gotten through Windows Update, but is not installed initially? Plug and play is weird sometimes =/.
I turned of my touch pad using 'FN+F9' and now my 'FN' key is spoilt. Is there away to turn it back on without the 'FN' key?

It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.

When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA couple days ago, my keyboard and touchpad mouse stopped working. I thought it was a hardware issue and ordered a replacement keyboard. As for the touchpad, I'm just using a wireless mouse. I replaced the keyboard a couple days later with the new one, and when I turned on my laptop, it works again, but when I put my laptop to sleep and wake it up, I hit enter, and then it stops working. I cannot type anything until I restart my computer. I figured it has to do something with the drivers, but I'm not too sure. Here is my computer specs:

Occasionally, my laptop's touchpad won't work on start-up. This does not happen all the time, it appears to happen every other boot. I can plug a USB mouse at any moment and have that work fine. This also only happens on Windows 7 from what I can tell, as I dual-boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu has never given me this problem before. I can also use safe mode with Windows 7 and have the touchpad function fine all the time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my bro's computer, formatted it and installed windows 7. It won't get past the windows 7 logo screen at all, so I can't get into desktop. When I try to go into repair mode it loads for a while and then just freezes. I have done safemode and can't get passed it either, it stops at CLASSPNP.sys. My computer worked fine with Windows XP and I tried to go into windows XP and then put in the windows 7 disc and install it there, no luck. I have re-installed quite a few times. Could it be that since I formatted it doesn't work because something important got removed? This computer didn't come with a DISC of any sort. I don't even know what to do anymore, I know the the computer is fine since it works with windows xp. but not with windows 7!

Tried safe mode networking and it worked, but normal mode would not work at all. Tried a few hours later and restarted it then froze again once restarted in normal mode and hasn't worked since... yet safe mode works fine. Can anybody help? Please! my acer aspire 9410 dvd driver wont work now that i have upgraded to windows 7. It says it is incompatible. I have looked on the acer site and it appears for the 9410 they don't have drivers for windows 7.I tried the vista drivers download but it won't work. Any ideas on how I can get the correct driver?
