Feb 2, 2012I'm re-installing Windows 7 on an Acer Laptop. This is not my laptop but a friend of my friend's laptop. The Windows 7 installed on the PC is a cracked version namely Windows 7 Eternity. It was installed by some other guy I don't know. The usb port are not functioning but are working. I plugged in my flashdrive and there is no sign of life but when I enter the bios it shows the flashdrive meaning that it works fine but when Window boots up it shows no life. Indicating a problem with Windows. I've tried everything to fix the ports but the last option is to re-install the OS.
He has giving me a disc with Windows Eternity which the guy give him to install but I'm going to install the OEM instead of this cracked pirate copy. To check if the OEM partition is still intact I've installed the cracked copy and used Diskpart.The OEM partition is still there. I've used the disc to format the drive and then rebooted pressed ALT & tapped the F10 key but I don't get the options to re-install OS. What do I do now? other than just installing the cracked copy. May 5, 2011When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

C: contained XP.C: was too full to allow Win7 upgrade to this, so I allowed it to be installed on D:.I dont seem to be able to delete XP from C:, or to reformat C: to clear it.Now, Win 7 boots up but1) the keyboard does not respond before Win 7 starts (eg in the pre-windows questions about choosing the required operating system, 'last good configuration', etc)2) the sound does not work3) the printer doesn't work.I guess there is some information on C: that is used to run these ports and Win 7 cant now see them. Or something....erm. So:1) How do I fix the problems with the peripherals?2) How do I reformat C: or put Win7 on C:, if thats the solution? Jul 7, 2012I just got my bro's computer, formatted it and installed windows 7. It won't get past the windows 7 logo screen at all, so I can't get into desktop. When I try to go into repair mode it loads for a while and then just freezes. I have done safemode and can't get passed it either, it stops at CLASSPNP.sys. My computer worked fine with Windows XP and I tried to go into windows XP and then put in the windows 7 disc and install it there, no luck. I have re-installed quite a few times. Could it be that since I formatted it doesn't work because something important got removed? This computer didn't come with a DISC of any sort. I don't even know what to do anymore, I know the the computer is fine since it works with windows xp. but not with windows 7!
