ENE Card Reader On Acer Aspire 5050
Sep 16, 2009I used to run XP before switching over and have never ran vista. The XP drivers for this device worked great from the Acer website. I have downloaded the Vista drivers now and tried them both in regular mode and then after again in compatibility mode (Vista SP1). This did not work. It is recognizing my card reader but the driver's or something is stopping it from working.
When I load in an SD card the sound is not made and no drive appears. Am I missing something? I have google'd and gotten all my other devices to work flawlessly. This is the last one and I will have a working Windows 7 machine.
Edit: I have found out a manual for my lapop and it shows the device as "ENE CB714". Scouring google for drivers but haven't seen a thing yet.

Jun 6, 2012I am having trouble installing a card reader driver on my Acer Aspire 5050.The memory card reader is ENE CB714 Cardbus/MediaReader Controller. The ENE Technology website has no links or downloads for their drivers.After clicking Extract Here, there are no 'instructions'. I cannot seem to 'unzip the files. There is also no 'install file' that shows up. I have followed the steps and they are simply not working.I am trying to use my Sony CyberShot camera in my USB ports. I have gone to the Sony website and there was a driver available that would not install.I have tried a lot of methods and cannot seem to get this working!how I can download and install this driver?

May 5, 2011When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

Jul 23, 2012When I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.

Jul 29, 2009Issue: It never seems to "stick". I installed the Realtek CardReader drivers, worked for a week and then I get "Unknown Device" in the Devices and Printers area. When it worked, it showed the Realtek drivers installed in the Control Panel - Device Manager window. Now when I look there.

Jul 29, 2011I went to plug in a CF card into my system as I do weekly to download pictures and windows says I need to format the card (it is formatted and there are pics on it) when I tried to format the card via windows it won't format the card. When I tried to hook the camera up to the PC using a USB cord it said the same thing. And when I plugged a flash drive into the USB, it also has the same error. Device properties show an exclamation mark by all the drives exceot my hard drive.Is this most likey a driver issue? If it is, would using my win7 disc and doing an install over the current Win 7 fix the issue? I'm not super technical to trying to fix the USB drivers themselves is not really in the cards.

Dec 5, 2011I have some perfectly good USB flash-card readers from Transcend. They work just great on my XP office machine, and on my home machine if I dig out my XP boot drive and boot XP. But Win7 can't use flash in this device. Disk Management shows the correct size but can't show Properties; no drive letter is assigned, and I can't see the drives. They all work just find under XP.
I hesitate to go buy another brand of reader; USB is supposed to be plug-and-play.

Tried safe mode networking and it worked, but normal mode would not work at all. Seven refuses to recognize said graphic card, insisting that in it's place, is a Standard VGA Graphic Adapter. Because of this, my screen resolution is amazingly low.
Proper drivers have been installed several times. I read something about having to manually install the drivers... but didn't fully comprehend.
After some research, I found that Seven has troubles with graphic cards built into the motherboard.
Acer Aspire 1680 Sound Card Not Recognized
Jan 6, 2009I am having an Acer Aspire 1680 notebook with an AC'97 compatible soundcard apparently from Conexant, however unfortunately Windows 7 does not seem to recognise it automatically. I can install the XP drivers successfully but then all playback is stuttering and laggy. I also searched for Vista AC97 drivers respectively Vista Conexant drivers but they all do not appear to be compatible.
Does anybody know whether there is a working driver for Windows 7?

Aug 22, 2012My problem is that after turning on the power for the very first time, it will not recognize my keyboard. I have several different keyboards and I tried them all- including the Acer keyboard that came with the PC.I think my mistake was that before turning on the power, I had plugged in both an HDMI connection to my TV as well as a DVI connection to an Acer 23" monitor. Then when I powered up the PC, it defaulted to the HDMI output but I didn't realize that and was expecting it to displa on the monitor.It took me a while to figure out that it defaulted to the HDMI connection. I started out by looking at my monitor and couldn't figure out why there was no activity on the monitor. But once I switched the TV input to "HDMI 1", I saw the output was displayed on my TV.Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to recognize any keyboard now although it does make a "clicking" sound when I press keys on the keyboard. I tried to press WIN+P to change the HDMI output to show the same output on both the TV and the monitor but it seems to default to "side by side" and the only thing that I can think to do now is to pull out the power cord plug and try to re-boot with just the monitor connected and without the HDMI connection.When I hit the "power off" button, it has no effect. Should I pull out the power cord from the outlet? Or is there some other way to get it to reboot?

Jan 25, 2013HeI am at wits end here trying to figure out how to fix this pc. A friend came to me with the Acer Aspire One D255E with a wireless internet issue. The PC is Running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. I immediately thought "well there must be a switch that she turned off" There is no switch on the computer for the wireless card. I thought "well there must be a driver issue, Ill go to the device manager and update the driver for it". Then when I got to the device manager... Nothing shows up for a wireless lan card even existing in the laptop, but I know it does, because A) It's a "net Book" B) she was using the internet last week. So, I thought maybe it's not showing up because thee computer needs the drivers for it first, which is unusual, but since its windows 7 starter I thought it needed a kick in the rear to get it goin. So i downloaded all the drivers for the PC using a different computer, and installed the different drivers to see which one would work. Well none of them worked, and now im sitting here scratching my head on what to do next. I have scoured the web and seen a few other people with issues like this.
