I hav an Asus netbook with windows 7 premier. My touchpad was on so I pressed the usual; F3..but it didn't disable it. I was pissin around in the settings.I think I disabled the driver?? That's the message that comes up. It needs a driver..i tried to disable the touchpad and I don't kno how to fix it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a DELL XPS M1530 laptop that I just installed a full version of Windows 7. It had Windows Vista on it before. It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.

A couple days ago, my keyboard and touchpad mouse stopped working. I thought it was a hardware issue and ordered a replacement keyboard. As for the touchpad, I'm just using a wireless mouse. I replaced the keyboard a couple days later with the new one, and when I turned on my laptop, it works again, but when I put my laptop to sleep and wake it up, I hit enter, and then it stops working. I cannot type anything until I restart my computer. I figured it has to do something with the drivers, but I'm not too sure. Here is my computer specs:

I've gone to the HP website to get the drivers, but they do not support windows 7 for my computer.
Occasionally, my laptop's touchpad won't work on start-up. This does not happen all the time, it appears to happen every other boot. I can plug a USB mouse at any moment and have that work fine. This also only happens on Windows 7 from what I can tell, as I dual-boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu has never given me this problem before. I can also use safe mode with Windows 7 and have the touchpad function fine all the time.

I have no idea what to do, there may be a registry value that can be changed to do this in the same way that adding two to the value at HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators turns NUM lock on at startup or there may be something completely different. I know that the touchpad can be disabled at startup because my computer had it disabled on startup before I had to reinstall windows and all of my drivers and programs. Everything else on my system is exactly the way it was before but I just can't keep the touchpad off.

On my inspiron 1545 laptop is seems finger tracking on the touchpad stops responding sometimes. I'm using Windows 7 default drivers. Do you think it is a driver problem? Can I use a Vista driver?
Also on a side note is there a way I can disable the tap for mouse click on the touchpad?
having replaced Vista on my Dell Inspiron 1720 (32 bit) laptop. What I cannot do, however, is disable the touch pad - there is no mechanism in the Control Panel. I can only alter settings for the attached mouse.how to disable the touch pad?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy touchpad is way too sensitive and I have no way to adjust it. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook that came with Vista but has been upgraded to Windows 7. I tried following other threads to fix this but my situation seems to be different. I tried downloading new drivers but the message I get says there aren't any drivers for this notebook with this OS. There is nothing anywhere on my computer that says Synaptics which I thought I had before the upgrade. I have Mouse Properties with tabs that read: Buttons,Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, Hardware. Nothing about a touchpad at all.

I thought my computer frozen so I would restart it , but I just hooked up my keyboard and mouse and they work just fine on the laptop , but when i unplug them i can't use my keyboard or mouse to my computer. I am not sure if i pressed something to make the touchpad and keyboard stop working .Maybe I could have put in sleep mode or something.

Typing along and it somehow highlights everything and if you aren't watching and aren't fast, the next key stroke zaps everything.So I found before on my old lap top that the fn key and the f3 key together will work as a toggle (that sometimes irritatingly toggles its own self) to turn touch pad on and off.On my new laptop I found it had a control to completely disable the touchpad which was way cool, one time, done. Now amazingly enough the control is not locatable and the touch pad is activated and the fn f3 fix does not work either.computer manufacturer says restore to default settings but I don't buy it there has to be another way as that will wipe out all my settings and more?

My Dell laptop touch pad is working fine for moving the pointer and clicking but the scrollbar for web pages etc. that runs vertically down the left of the pad does not function at all. I have had a look around the Device Manager but I cant find the pads entry to update it. Perhaps this is just something that is incompatible with Windows 7...

Monday afternoon I turned my computer on and noticed that every two minutes or so the computer would freeze up for up to 15 seconds, after which I had another one-two minutes of uninterrupted use and then it would freeze again.

(only on Windows 7)I'd done two major things in the past week and neither one of them could have had caused this because there'd been so much time in between. The first was I networked a couple folders on my hard drive so they were accessible on the rest of my home network (on Friday). Second I'd installed GIMP on my computer (Saturday night).
(only on Windows 7)I did a restore point from about a week ago, still had the same problem, then I tried uninstalling GIMP and turning off file sharing, still nada.
I thought maybe it was a software problem and because I had a website due in a couple hours I thought I'd swap out the Windows 7 hard drive which I was using and instead use a hard drive with Xp, Oddly enough all the problems I've mentioned up to now and the problems I'll mention persisted on both platforms (unless otherwise stated), also note I hadn't used Xp in months (about 3 months ago was the last time I'd used it in a computer.)
After messing around some more I noticed that my touch pad wasn't working at all (I'd been using a external wireless mouse until then) The drivers somehow uninstalled themselves and pretended to not work when I reinstalled them.
The only thing that kinda worked was booting in safe mode, then the courser would freeze but not anything else. When you look at this with the fact that the touch-pad doesn't work and the problem persists cross-platform, it begins to look like a BIOS or hardware problem, not a software thing.
Other Weird Phenomenon
(only on Windows 7) Stumble Upon doesn't show up in the toolbar even when it's enabled and checked off as supposed to be there, in Firefox.[this one is just weird... it could be that I updated it and didn't realize and it's not playing nice with some other add-on, I'll look into that.) On screen keyboard also wont work in safe mode while courser is frozen (but mouse isn't). When I access files through file sharing from a different computer they are also subject to freezing, meaning that if I have a HTML file open in notepad ++ ( that's on the laptop) every two minutes or so it'll freeze up for 10-15 seconds.
I have upgraded a HP dv2000 (HPdv2171cl) to Win 7 and now I have a touchpad problem. I have installed the HP Vista driver and the Synaptic driver trying to get the touchpad to work, as well as scoured this and other sites for advice. The touchpad is jerky and the scrollbar on the side is not functioning.
The only thing I can find that is out of place is that under device manager, there is listed "other device" Unknown device.?
any ideas?
i have msi gt628 notebook and i installed there Windows 7 x64 but i'm unable to scroll with touchpad . Windows is recognizing this device as wheel mouse and on msi web there is written that windows has implemented drivers for pointing devices so there is know driver available. i have already tried synaptics driver v13 for vista x64 but it didn't helped so i will be grateful for every piece of advice.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 Home Basic on my wife's laptop. Everything is working great except that the scroll feature on the touchpad does not work. I checked Device Manager and it says it has a PS/2 Mouse instead of a Touchpad, so I assumed I am missing a driver. Here's the issue. I have tried about 8 or 9 different variations of the ALPS and Synaptics drivers for Windows 7, all with the same results.
Everything works great after rebooting, then shortly after, the scrolling will become erratic, and finally the cursor will lock up and the machine will start beeping. The keyboard continues to work, but no mouse functionality whatsoever. I think I just have not found the right driver for this...the one I had previously installed was for XP so I don't think it will work under Win 7. Does anyone know where I can get the right driver for this laptop?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 ultimate on my daughters, acer aspire 3050 laptop. It was running vista home basic before. The vista install was damaged by viruses, so I decided to upgrade her to 7. All the hardware was recognized, but for some reason the keyboard does not work, it was working fine with the virus riddled vista install. For some strange reason the windows key does bring up the start menu, but none of the other keys seem to do anything.
They all work in the BIOS just fine. Also the touch pad does work, but the cursor movement is very jerky, and it was also fine in vista. I went to acer's site, they don't have any windows 7 drivers available for this model, or any vista drivers for the keyboard, I installed the vista touch pad drivers, but they did not seem to help. I also messed with the keyboard settings in control panel, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any ideas, on what I need to do to fix this. I have been really pleased with 7 on my other computers, and would hate to have to go back to vista.
I want to make use of the gestures that windows 7 has support for, especially the two fingered ones, but I am just using a normal inbuilt touchpad on my laptop. Is it possible? The make of the trackpad isn't synaptics, it's ALPS.

I installed the synaptics drivers from their website (v10.1.8 x64) but when I go to mouse properties and click the synaptics tab it only allows me to configure the right and left click buttons. How can I configure the scrolling of my touchpad? I NEED it!
Also are there any iTunes guru's out there? I have my library all setup on my vista partition. Is there anyway I can get my library/playlists on the Windows 7 side. I don't want 2 copies of my music, I want it to all link to the files on the vista partition but I have a feeling I will have trouble either getting the playlists in or trying to gain access to those files on that partition.
