I want to make use of the gestures that windows 7 has support for, especially the two fingered ones, but I am just using a normal inbuilt touchpad on my laptop. Is it possible? The make of the trackpad isn't synaptics, it's ALPS.

I was wondering if there is a way to customize the functions of certain gestures. For example, binding a macro like Alt+1 to 4 finger swipe left etc. That way I can bind some function to Alt+1 and execute it with 4 finger swipe.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 RC1 32-bit OS onto my laptop. Without thinking i needed any drivers, i went to play World of Warcraft. It told me that it could not locate a display device and wouldn't work. I figured i needed to install my grpahics card drivers for my Nvidia 9 series card. When i went to install the drivers, an error message appeared saying that it could not locate drivers compatible with my device.
I went to dxdiag and under display it shows that i have a standard vga adapter and won't recognize my actual graphics card. I'm not sure if i'm missing drivers, i haven't installed anything else except for this attempt at installing the nvidia driver.
I've archived many movies to Disc using the very excellent AnyDVD software - I've copied them as ISO's - complete copies of the originals whatever the size but obviously removed region coding B/S and CSS.If I want to play these again on a normal DVD player (not a Computer) which can play DVD RW / DVD RAM etc how can I get say a 6 GB iso dual layer or whatever the original iso format is on to one or more 4.7 GB standard DVD's so I can play the disc on the DVD player.I don't mind losing subtitles, different sound tracks etc as I've still got these on the original ISO copy on disc but I want to keep the HIGHEST POSSIBLE screen resolution -- preferably the original if possible.Eventually I'll be able to STREAM the archived ISO to the TV but It will be a while before I set up a decent multi-media server.Divx is no good -- it compresses the image too much for a decent high quality large size LCD TV.The DVD player also does a really good job of upscaling "normal" DVD's to 1080p - very little discernable difference between a DECENT upscaled normal DVD and a "Blu Ray" one --- and without the added complexity of having to go through hoops with Blu Ray protection -- so you can play a DISC YOU HAVE PAID FOR on YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT.Don't you just hate all this stuff stopping you from using the media wherever you want -- didn't work for music and its not going to work for video media too -- but that's aanother whole issue.

I would like to "move" it from that hard drive to my new SSD and boot from the SSD. What is the best way to go about doing that? View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having some BSOD probs, so I'm currently updating all of my drivers. The only one I can't find an update for is called PCI Standard Host CPU Bridge. Could you point me in the right direction, so I can get the update?
Also, for some reason, PCI Standard Host CPU Bridge is listed twice in Device Manager... and both entries seem identical. Would this mean I have to update both?

Just done a clean install of windows 7 on my Sony VPN-SZ5VWN and it has installed all drivers apart from the display.It has a nVidia Go 7400 however when I try to install it it just states there is no nividia products. If I try to uninstall the VGA driver, it asks me to restart and then, before I can do anything, it reinstalls the standard VGA adapter driver. I do get a solution saying to download the driver however this does not work.The original drivers are for Vista and Sony provides no other supported OS for them.

I have a Dell Precision M90, with 4 gigs of ram, a 2.00 GHz core duo processor, and a Nvidia Quadro FX 2500M video card.
In the device manager, my display adapter shows as Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I'm decent with computers, so I've upgraded video card drivers before. However, for some reason it is not allowing me to upgrade this driver. I have tried with both a 2500M driver as well as a 7900GTX driver (which worked for me in Vista).
I have also tried uninstalling the driver first, but it won't let me install another one before restarting and when I restart it just reinstalls the Standard VGA Graphics adapter.
i have been looking through my system info i noticed that my Standard VGA adapter (the pre installed one that comes wit Win 7) has no VRAM, plz help i cant play any games i need 64mb of VRAM. I tried getting Nvidia display adapters but I cant install my working graphic driver, just the ones my comp cant support.

It said he is running from a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. His computer is fairly old, but all of the hardware is pretty good except for the video card. I have an old Nvidia GeForce2 MX/400, and after installing the XP drivers I was able to run at 1280x1024 in 32bit, but I was getting some crashes in nv4_mini.sys when trying to install DVDFab. "The Internet" tells me that this is due to the XP drivers, so I uninstalled them again and rolled back to the Standard VGA Driver and was able to install the software. But now I am limited to 16bit again.
So, is there any way to force this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOne of the things you may discover is that not all of your older programs/games/drivers will work under 7, and their 7 compliant versions may not be availabe. In this case, you can try install and run them in Vista (or XP) compatible mode. To run a file in compatibility mode:
1. Right click on the executable file and click the "Properties" option
2. Select the "Compatibility tab"
3. From the drop-down menu, choose the operating system to run your file compatible with
4. Click OK
5. Run it "Compatibility" tab explained by Microsoft
If compatibility mode does not help, you can try force windows to use the standard device drivers:
1. In Device Manager, right-click your device (e.g. video adapter), and then click "Uninstall" to remove the device.
2. Restart your computer. After you log on, you receive a "New Hardware Found" dialog box with the device listed as the description and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts
3. Click "Next" to start the wizard

I set up four Dell Computers with Windows 7 Home Premium. Used my administrative account to install software (Microsoft Office Suite), Microsoft Security Essentials, Ccleaner, and Malawarebytes. All programs installed properly. As these computers are going to be used in a public place by junior and senior high school students, I thought it would be best to set up a standard user account for each of the four computers. I have it set up but when I log in as a standard use (non administrative) all the programs that were installed are not available. Tell me if I'm wrong. I think the programs would still be listed in program files when the standard user is open. Can I go to each of the programs and right click to open and then be prompted to key in my administrative password. I would think this should allow the program to be run in the standard user desktop.

The latest one is Start/Default Programs/Set program access and computer defaults. It tells me I do not have permission, no opportunity to elevate rights, so I had to log into the admin account.

I really should be a Standard User for day-to-day computing. There are two ways I could go about doing this, and my question is: Which way is better? Daddy will continue to be an Administrator. I will create a new Standard User account for myself. Daddy will transfer all my documents, pictures, music, etc. to my new user account; or I will create a new Administrator account and then demote Daddy to a Standard User. Are there particular pros and cons to these methods, or does it not really matter?
One thing I wonder about is that I have used the Daddy account to install certain software 'for this user only' (i.e., Daddy) . I did this for software that needs Administrator permissions and rights, such as my antivirus software. Will a new Administrator account automatically have this software installed, or will it have to re-install this software?
I have a user set up as a standard user. When that user double clicks on most of the executable icons nothing happens- not even a prompt to run as administrator.Parental controls for the user are turned off. I was a frequent user of the OS - Windows XP and my driver worked fine, I could play many low quality and few high quality games. But I tend to get infected when I was on XP. So I switched to a new OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) it automatically installed a the current driver I have as of now. When I try to play games on it, they will not work. When I try to play the Windows 7 Card game it lags terribly. I have done things such as the Windows Experience Index, Updating my driver via device manager, dxdiag, and several blogs and help sites. If possible can anyone help me or reccommend drivers that are compatible with my current OS and is substantially better than the piece of crap driver I have now?

I bought the student version. I downloaded it fine and every time i try to install the program i get this error.
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller]. Click 'Load Driver' and load the required device driver.
Is there any way i can fix this? My CD drives stopped working a while back, i have a custom built computer. I tried to download the driver online installed and i still get this error. Can someone please help me.
