I am using Lightroom 4 (but I don't think that point is relevant), and somehow, my window has become full screen and I don't even see the 3 boxes in the upper right. How do I get back to the standard appearance? This is not true in any other program. Windows 7 Pro SP1.

But everything in my computer is out of reach due to the size of all icons, fonts, etc. How can I get it changed back? I can't even get to system restore to go back to a restore point.

This is due to an overheat problem I have been experiancing since my Win 7 upgrade.I have created a new user account that I would like to run an application really smoothly so have taken some performance tweek advice and turned off the aero peak function, and most of the fancy visual apperance settings, set some services to manual and assumed it would only apply these settings for the current user, but it applies the settings to all users registered on the computer.Is it possible to set up two (or more) different accounts so one could have all the default features and visual apperance settings as standard (for email, Web browsing, media centre, gadgets, all that nice stuff), and onther user account be bare bones, no nice graphics and visuals, less defautl services but run high demand programs better?

View 10 Replies View Relatedif this BSOD is anything for me to be concerned about. OS is Win 7 Pro x64 and the laptop is a HP 8740W. The system is rock solid as far as I know (it's stress-tested very often) and this is the first BSOD I've managed to get out of it. Win 7 was freshly installed around 2 weeks ago on the system and everything was updated. When the BSOD occurred I wasn't really doing anything except changing the Windows Appearance settings.I didn't manage to grab what it said on the BSOD screen except Win32k.sys.

The transparent mouse selection thingy when you drag your mouse on the desktop is the normal Windows XP/Basic one where it's just the dotted line. Also, the desktop wallpaper slide show doesn't fade into each picture it just does a quick switch. So what I'm thinking is that my computer is running in a low visual appearance mode or something like that. Can I switch it back?

In my office, some of our users are having a very strange problem. Every now and again, a users documents and desktop shortcuts go transparent and have a little cross on them and cannot be opened. The only fix we have at present is to restart the PC.
The documents and shorcuts point to items that are on a mapped network drives. Not all of the documents go like this, only certain ones. There are no certain users or documents that this happens too, its completely random.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have only 1 user on my system which is myself & it does not have a password, until recently it booted to desktop without any problems & then out of the blue, which I think after a bunch of windows updates I am now presented with the user select screen which I have to click to load into the desktop. How can I disable this as I have looked at the user controls & everything else I could remember to check & every time I reboot or boot up it goes to the user login screen which I only need to click because I don't use a password.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently been granted admin rights on my work computer.While the computer was locked down, the Aero visual effects were set to "adjust for best performance".I can change it to "adjust for best appearance" and the Aero effects appear - until I reboot the computer. After the reboot, the checkbox is still set to "adjust for best appearance" however, the effects are disabled. I have to change the setting, change it back to best appearance and hit OK. Then everything works again.The friend in IT who granted the admin rights told me that this is due to the group policy our company has set up - and that there is nothing he can do about it.I have checked gpedit and regedit but could not find any relevant entries.Do you have any idea how I could automagically adjust the settings back to best appearance after every reboot? I was thinking that if I cannot turn of the group policy myself, then maybe I could write some sort of script that changes to appearance settings for me (instead of me having to do it manually every time).

The changes have worked well in all my programs except Office 2010 programs! These programs continue to show the original small, unbolded heading fonts. I have been told on another Windows 7 Forum that Control Panel changes will not work on Office programs, so is there another way to change the Title Bar headings in Office 2010 so that they are a little larger and bolder?

A few minutes later, all of a sudden, the monitor screen is filled with colored vertical and horizontal lines...and nothing is working nor is there anything else on the screen but the lines. Manually, shut down and rebooted. Opened with options on how to continue. I chose Normal Mode. Computer and screen now working as they should for the last hour.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 RC1 32-bit OS onto my laptop. Without thinking i needed any drivers, i went to play World of Warcraft. It told me that it could not locate a display device and wouldn't work. I figured i needed to install my grpahics card drivers for my Nvidia 9 series card. When i went to install the drivers, an error message appeared saying that it could not locate drivers compatible with my device.
I went to dxdiag and under display it shows that i have a standard vga adapter and won't recognize my actual graphics card. I'm not sure if i'm missing drivers, i haven't installed anything else except for this attempt at installing the nvidia driver.
I've archived many movies to Disc using the very excellent AnyDVD software - I've copied them as ISO's - complete copies of the originals whatever the size but obviously removed region coding B/S and CSS.If I want to play these again on a normal DVD player (not a Computer) which can play DVD RW / DVD RAM etc how can I get say a 6 GB iso dual layer or whatever the original iso format is on to one or more 4.7 GB standard DVD's so I can play the disc on the DVD player.I don't mind losing subtitles, different sound tracks etc as I've still got these on the original ISO copy on disc but I want to keep the HIGHEST POSSIBLE screen resolution -- preferably the original if possible.Eventually I'll be able to STREAM the archived ISO to the TV but It will be a while before I set up a decent multi-media server.Divx is no good -- it compresses the image too much for a decent high quality large size LCD TV.The DVD player also does a really good job of upscaling "normal" DVD's to 1080p - very little discernable difference between a DECENT upscaled normal DVD and a "Blu Ray" one --- and without the added complexity of having to go through hoops with Blu Ray protection -- so you can play a DISC YOU HAVE PAID FOR on YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT.Don't you just hate all this stuff stopping you from using the media wherever you want -- didn't work for music and its not going to work for video media too -- but that's aanother whole issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having some BSOD probs, so I'm currently updating all of my drivers. The only one I can't find an update for is called PCI Standard Host CPU Bridge. Could you point me in the right direction, so I can get the update?
Also, for some reason, PCI Standard Host CPU Bridge is listed twice in Device Manager... and both entries seem identical. Would this mean I have to update both?

Just done a clean install of windows 7 on my Sony VPN-SZ5VWN and it has installed all drivers apart from the display.It has a nVidia Go 7400 however when I try to install it it just states there is no nividia products. If I try to uninstall the VGA driver, it asks me to restart and then, before I can do anything, it reinstalls the standard VGA adapter driver. I do get a solution saying to download the driver however this does not work.The original drivers are for Vista and Sony provides no other supported OS for them.

I have a Dell Precision M90, with 4 gigs of ram, a 2.00 GHz core duo processor, and a Nvidia Quadro FX 2500M video card.
In the device manager, my display adapter shows as Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I'm decent with computers, so I've upgraded video card drivers before. However, for some reason it is not allowing me to upgrade this driver. I have tried with both a 2500M driver as well as a 7900GTX driver (which worked for me in Vista).
I have also tried uninstalling the driver first, but it won't let me install another one before restarting and when I restart it just reinstalls the Standard VGA Graphics adapter.
