Like the title says, how can I add fonts to Window Color and appearance? I really want to use that Roboto font used in Android ICS, which I installed but doesn't appear in Window Color and appearance (it appears in Microsoft Word 2010 though)

I am trying to set my monitor's screen give accurate renditions of my pictures. I use Quick Gamma to set gamma. When doing this I can use either Nvidia's controls or windows controls (right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel. When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.

This is due to an overheat problem I have been experiancing since my Win 7 upgrade.I have created a new user account that I would like to run an application really smoothly so have taken some performance tweek advice and turned off the aero peak function, and most of the fancy visual apperance settings, set some services to manual and assumed it would only apply these settings for the current user, but it applies the settings to all users registered on the computer.Is it possible to set up two (or more) different accounts so one could have all the default features and visual apperance settings as standard (for email, Web browsing, media centre, gadgets, all that nice stuff), and onther user account be bare bones, no nice graphics and visuals, less defautl services but run high demand programs better?
View 4 Replies View Relatedif this BSOD is anything for me to be concerned about. OS is Win 7 Pro x64 and the laptop is a HP 8740W. The system is rock solid as far as I know (it's stress-tested very often) and this is the first BSOD I've managed to get out of it. Win 7 was freshly installed around 2 weeks ago on the system and everything was updated. When the BSOD occurred I wasn't really doing anything except changing the Windows Appearance settings.I didn't manage to grab what it said on the BSOD screen except Win32k.sys.

I currently have only 1 user on my system which is myself & it does not have a password, until recently it booted to desktop without any problems & then out of the blue, which I think after a bunch of windows updates I am now presented with the user select screen which I have to click to load into the desktop. How can I disable this as I have looked at the user controls & everything else I could remember to check & every time I reboot or boot up it goes to the user login screen which I only need to click because I don't use a password.

The transparent mouse selection thingy when you drag your mouse on the desktop is the normal Windows XP/Basic one where it's just the dotted line. Also, the desktop wallpaper slide show doesn't fade into each picture it just does a quick switch. So what I'm thinking is that my computer is running in a low visual appearance mode or something like that. Can I switch it back?

In my office, some of our users are having a very strange problem. Every now and again, a users documents and desktop shortcuts go transparent and have a little cross on them and cannot be opened. The only fix we have at present is to restart the PC.
The documents and shorcuts point to items that are on a mapped network drives. Not all of the documents go like this, only certain ones. There are no certain users or documents that this happens too, its completely random.
i was speaking to my brother last nite who was trying to open a website it said he needed Adobe pdf , so he downloaded this and was able to see the site ,however after he noticed that all the desktop icons had adobe signs in them, my question is why did this happen and how does he restore icons back to there original appearance.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently been granted admin rights on my work computer.While the computer was locked down, the Aero visual effects were set to "adjust for best performance".I can change it to "adjust for best appearance" and the Aero effects appear - until I reboot the computer. After the reboot, the checkbox is still set to "adjust for best appearance" however, the effects are disabled. I have to change the setting, change it back to best appearance and hit OK. Then everything works again.The friend in IT who granted the admin rights told me that this is due to the group policy our company has set up - and that there is nothing he can do about it.I have checked gpedit and regedit but could not find any relevant entries.Do you have any idea how I could automagically adjust the settings back to best appearance after every reboot? I was thinking that if I cannot turn of the group policy myself, then maybe I could write some sort of script that changes to appearance settings for me (instead of me having to do it manually every time).

The changes have worked well in all my programs except Office 2010 programs! These programs continue to show the original small, unbolded heading fonts. I have been told on another Windows 7 Forum that Control Panel changes will not work on Office programs, so is there another way to change the Title Bar headings in Office 2010 so that they are a little larger and bolder?

A few minutes later, all of a sudden, the monitor screen is filled with colored vertical and horizontal lines...and nothing is working nor is there anything else on the screen but the lines. Manually, shut down and rebooted. Opened with options on how to continue. I chose Normal Mode. Computer and screen now working as they should for the last hour.

I want to take a bunch of fonts with me, but Explorer in Windows 7 won't let me actually look at what files are in the font directory; all I can see is their characteristics, provided by Control Panel. I received my laptop yesterday - Core i5, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I proceeded to install some apps from Microsoft and Adobe. Installation went fine and the apps started without problems. As soon as I saw the long list of fonts in Word, I wanted to remove as many of them as I possibly could. Brought up Fonts panel. Only 10 fonts - 10 ancient, bitmap fonts. What!? I saw and selected many fonts in Microsoft and Adobe apps. The fonts are indeed there, but they are simply not shown - no Segoe, no Cambria, no Corbel, no Constantia, not even Arial and Times New Roman, nothing.I got nervous and decided to restore Windows all the way back to the starting point.Today, I created the recovery DVDs from the factory partition. Rebooted from the DVDs to re-image C drive. Set up Windows and created my account. Windows 7 came up fresh. I went straight to the Fonts panel to check. Horror - the same 10 bitmap fonts, and nothing else.The factory-installed Windows 7 has problems showing fonts? What should I do now?

This method was practicable in browser menu, PDF files menu, etc. But it only failed to adjust these two windows...what a marvelous.BTW, since the fonts in this window are odd so that some contents in this window cannot be shown.
