Can't Boot Server 2003 After Having Installed Windows 7
May 15, 2011
I had three operating systems in my computer: Ubunt, Win XP and Win Server 2003. Grub was the booting program, that offers you go to Windows loader. When I selected this, I could choose between XP and Server 2003, according to XP boot.ini file.Yesterday I got Windows 7 installed over XP. Everything seemed to be fine. I got back Grub booting with Super Grub. When I boot the computer I choose Windows booting, and now, Windows 7 menu is shown.
First options here were:
- Previous Windows version
- Windows7
Firtst entry did not work: when you select it the computer just hungs up doing nothing, showing nothing, totally black.I installed EasyBCD and tried to edit boot menu: adding new entry to be autodetected or selecting the drive, but I get just absolutely nothing. When I choose this new entry to be loaded, same result: black screen. These are my curent booting settings:
Quote: There are a total of 3 entries listed in the bootloader.
Default: Windows 7
Timeout: 15 seconds
Boot Drive: C:

I tried also copying a regular boot.ini file (see below) into the Server 2003 partition, but all I got with this is, instead a black screen, a message saying that system in " NSTeasyldr1" cannot be loaded by some hardware/software error (no more options but to go back)
Code: [boot loader] timeout=5 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /noexecute=optout /fastdetect As said, I am totally desperated with this, I really need my server 2003 getting launched
I really need to get my Server 2003 running, as that is working platform (need it for my job).I had three operating systems in my computer: Ubunt, Win XP and Win Server 2003. Is it possible to boot Windows Server 2003 from this VHD using Windows 7 VHD native support? If not, is it possible to create a bootable Windows Server 2003 VHD that dual boots with Windows 7?
When trying to copy a folder from Server 2003 to my Windows 7 64 bit it ends up freezing but I tried it on a xp computer nearby and the folder copied over in a minute.

It looks that Win 2003 server can only see Windows XP and Win 7 Ultimate. We like to buy some newer PC but don't want to pay for Business or Ultimate. Is there anyway that Home Premium can connect to Server 2003
Windows server 2003 reboots very often. On 30th Dec alone rebooted 10 times.Found only in Device manager for Display Adaptor its whowing in Yellow Mark for Intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipset Family. Is this could be any cause for reboot. Will drivers installations can resolve it?
I have a computer running Windows Server 2003 that i would like to connect to my computer running Windows 7 ultimate. i have done everything it says to in the videos and tutorials but i cannot get the server to connect to the internet. i can connect to it via remote desktop but it cannot connect to the internet nor can any other computers on my network see the server only the Windows 7 PC that the server is connected to. FYI - I have the win server 2003 connected to the Win 7 computer via Ethernet and i set up saring on the win 7 computer but it still cannot connect to the internet.
When I try and copy files from my Windows 7 Home PC to my Windows Server 2003 share, it copies so much then hangs the Server sharing. It then appears that the share has disappeared. If I copy from the Server 2003 to 7, it copies fine, and copying from XP to 2003 also works fine.I had a chat with a colleague who told me that he has the same problem copying from Vista to XP.
I am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.
Steps taken so far. - Checked and reset permission levels on the share. - Recreated new shares from scratch for testing. - Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache. - Check various registry entry settings. - Disabled cashing on the File server. - Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.
The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2.
Upgraded my PC to a windows 7 64bit professional. However, I'm unable to read a xml file generated by accounting software (ACCPAC) stored in my windows NT 2003 server.Error message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
I'm running a 2003 and 2008 server the 2003 is the primary DC. Most of our PC's are XP and were testing 2 windows 7 machines.
The desktops and some shared drives were stored on a nas box but it was unstable so I shifted the desktops and some public shares to a server on one of the DC's. I redirected the shares using netlogon scripts and they took fine on all computers XP and Windows 7, the desktops were redirected using Group policy, all the XP machines took the redirection, a few needed the users to be reset though. The issue I'm having is with the 2 windows 7 PC's, they have taken the shares but not the desktops. The desktops were working before. I have tried deleting the users and login in again, I have also tried to remove the regedit policies but no success. I have even taken the PC off the domain and put it back on with no success. The same users log in fine on the XP PC's and get the desktop.
I installed Win7 (at home) and when I try to configure Outlook 2003 to connect to the exchange server that our company uses. It cannot get access to this server. It says outlook must be online to access the exchange server.
All other internet access works perfectly. I've checked and rechecked all the settings. They are correct. It worked fine on VISTA. I did a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade. Continues to work fine on my XP Pro station. Seems like something is blocking it from going out over the Internet.
I have just installed my old FP2003 on my HP Laptop running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.. I imported and published an old web site and everything seems to be working OK so far. I bought the FP2003 disk in 2005 and used it until 2009.
I have a computer on Windows 7- 64bits and my print server is on Windows 2003 Server 32bits. How can i install the driver of Windows 7-64 bits on my Windows Server 2003 print server?
I am testing some of our computers on our school system and got to the stage of joining it to our domain. They joined fine but the domain had never been connected to vista or windows 7 so it tried to upgrade itself. This crashed the server because it only had permission to change the sub domain.
At our office, we have a Windows 2003 File server (one of them), and Windows 7 workstations. The workstations can use Explorer fine to view all the folders on the share. But for whatever reason when you go to a command prompt and do a DIR on that share, it is missing about 60% of the folders. Now, the iphone app that uses the vpn to view these shares too also does not show them.
My problem is windows 7 hangs and freeze when access 2003 server Enterprise edition. This is not a small network, one of the biggest network.i have doubt on individual users on domain. before 2 months we had department wise users mean, for example Accounts@domainname.local. But after we created the individual users like john@domainname.local to all users. this is i believe the cause of problem. When we acess the server via the software it freezed for 5 seconds and then repeat to normal state. And after some time it hangs for 2 minutes.
how to backup all printer definitions in a MSCS Cluster Server 2003 environment. The printers are integrated in the cluster. As long as he printers have not been in the cluster, we used printmig.exe, but this is not working in a cluster.
this is what I did, since I have no CD-ROM, to install Windows 7 I created a partion X: NTFS and set it as the ACTIVE ONE, the put there the Windows 7 installation files, and opened prompt command to type bootsect.exe /n60 X: , next I restarted my computer, and automatically it booted into the Windows 7 setup, I installed Windows 7 on the partition C: and formatted the partition C:, everything installed and after the installation finished, a multiple choice menu appears that reads:[CODE]
Tried tackling this one single-handedly to begin with and failed.
I have Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 installed as a dual boot, different partitions single HDD.
I want to remove the Windows 7 partition and keep the Win 2008. I do NOT want to lose anything from the Win 2008 partition. Taken from Disk Management.
Disk 3 with 5 partitions 1st - Healthy, Primary partition 73MB. (I thought this was system reserve but its not, leftover space from a previous partition change). It's currently mounted and completely empty. 2nd - Unallocated space 500mb 3rd - Windows 7 OS (Healthy - system, active, primary partition) 4th - Windows 2008 Server OS (Healthy - boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition) 5th - Unallocated space 8mb'ish
I haven't been using Windows 7 for years and want to clean this drives partitions up because it's messy and wasting space. I just need windows server 2008 as it's been used as a server for years and that's all I need it for now.
I want to safely remove the windows 7 installation and merge that partition along with the 1st and unallocated spaces back into a single partition where windows 2008 server resides.
Now I've tried tackling this myself and failed. I stupidly made the windows server 2008 partition as active which killed my boot and took me forever to repair with zero loss fortunately. Sadly it was as simple as using diskpart in a command prompt from win 2008 boot disk to make win 7 partition active again.
So, how do I do this? The boot manager must be on the win 7 partition as removing active killed it. The windows 7 boot (during startup) is long removed, system boots directly to windows 2008.
I'm trying to install NeatScan to Office. When I run the setup.exe, it says it's extracting to Office.msi then gives an error, "Office version 2003 or higher must be installed to use NeatScan to Office."I've tried running it in compatibility modes (tried several) & nothing works.
I have a desktop that I installed Windows Server 2008 Web Edition on, and then later added Windows 7 Pro on a separate physical drive.
Server 2008 is C: Windows 7 is Z:
I used bcdedit to delete the boot entry for Server 2008, and now I'd like to remove the install of Server 2008 and reformat the drive. However, I am not able to delete the volume or format the c drive.
I installed a new motherboard for my Windows 7 Home Premium system and was surprised to find Windows won't boot now. I tried repair option from the install disc but didn tried the in place upgrade but after selecting the Install now option I end up with a message that the system was booted from the install disc and I need to start Windows normally and then insert the install disc again which of course won't work when Windows can't boot.I made a new install on a test hard drive to check my motherboard and it is working fine. What can I do? I would like to boot on my regular drive with all my data and programs and not have to go through the long process of finding and installing everything anew.
I am TRYING to get a dual boot set up on my new Win 7 machine. I have found numerous blogs etc. that detail the process, and I know I'm close, but I am getting a message that seems to say I've got a problem, and NONE of the blogs even mentions it. Very frustrating.
I have a basically BRAND NEW Win 7 Home Premiem machine. I have gone through the process to 'deallocate' a portion of the HDD. BUT when I try to go through the process for giving it a drive letter/format so I can then install Win Server 2008, I get the following message:
"The operation you selected will convert the selected basic disk(s) to dynamic disk(s). If you convert the disk(s) to dynamic disks, you will not be able to start installed operating systems from any volume on the disk(s) (except the current boot volume). Are you sure you want to continue?"
At this point I just have clicked NO, but what do I need to do to accomplish getting a dual boot with Win 2008 Server?
So long story short, my current os (w7) is installed on a non-boot partition of a now internal drive that used to be external. This wasn't an issue/I didn't notice because I had another unused internal hdd which DID have an old bootable os partition, and then I'd just choose the correct instance of Windows when that one booted.I have to get rid of the old HDD with the bootable partition. Is there anyway I can change the non bootable my currant OS is on to a bootable partition (ie thru windows, cmd, bios etc)
