Can't Access System Recovery Or Boot To Windows 7 After XP Install

I recently created a new partition with 200GB of space on my Windows 7 64bit (HP Elite) PC system. I installed Windows XP Professional on that new partition (trying to create dual OS). After Windows XP was installed, I was unable to find "Windows 7" as a boot option under "Startup and Recovery"... I could only see Windows XP Professional. I went to Disk Management and right clicked on the partition where my Windows 7 OS was under, and chose "Make partition active"... I got a warning system MAY not be able to boot, but I chose to proceed anyways. I tried restarting and got an error "BOOTMGR is missing / Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" ... I tried pressing F11 after restarting to get into "System Recovery" but it would go directly to the error message. I was still be able to access everything else during boot except "System Recovery" such as BIOS, etc.
I re-installed Windows XP Professional on the same partition... and was now able to get into the Windows XP Pro OS again. I'm still unable to access "System Recovery" when booting. F11 option is being bypassed and going directly into XP OS. This is my first concern, how do I get "System Recovery" to get working again? It used to work before as I re-installed Windows 7 couple of months ago. I can still see "FACTORY IMAGE" drive in My Computer (could be on a different drive letter than before). And second, how do I boot to my original Windows 7 OS (C-drive seems intact and all Win-7 system files are there)?

I have a Toshiba laptop in which I installed my copy of Windows 7. Recently, it has not been able to boot: it just restarts when trying to. I tried the typical things:booting to safe mode, etc. but they all do the same. So I tried to sin the System Recovery Options, first from the Advanced Boot Options menu and then directly from my Windows 7 disk. In all these cases, the program gets stuck after selecting the "Repair Your Computer" option, as in this picture:The mouse keeps working fine, but all I can see is the background image, and no window pops up. I know that it is supposed to prompt me to select my windows installation, but that window never comes up. A similar thing happens when I try to install windows instead. It just never gets to the next step.Is there anything that anyone can think of that I could do to solve this problem?

2 Days ago my desktop running windows 7 ultimate 64- bits suddenly crashed, showing nothing but a black screen a bit less than a minute after starting up a game. A few seconds later my computer automatically rebooted and the repair tool launched. After it was done I took a look at the report and all it could find that was broken was ci.dll, the same as in previously mentioned topic. I ran CHKDSK and scf /scannow after that, but they couldnt fix anything or find any bad sectors. I could not boot windows unless i disabled driver signing as well, however I never get any BSOD's. My system is also a bit slower as well, but not that slow. After looking at the previously mentioned topic i downloaded FRTS64 and ran it as well, I've attached the log. (No, I did not run the code that you warned not to use on a different system and on a different machine )I'm also experiencing the same browser issues. When i enter an invalid URL I'm being forwarded to the url... website, my ISP. Also the first two times I tried to open my browser nothing happened. I waited about 15 seconds, tried again and then it opened.
I think it might be a virus as well, im using P2P a lot as well though i havent downloaded anything weird in a long while. My last 100-ish downloads (all fansubs for 2 anime series) have all come from the same site which i trust. however i did recently download a patch for a game, but that came from a site that is also used very frequently, and i havent heard of anything similar from friends/friendly gamers who downloaded the same patch.

eway with Windows Vista x64 and want to upgrade to Windows 7. I've been trying to figure out how to do it by following along to another thread in here but as BarefootKid mentioned, it is probably best that I start my own threadAfter I install Windows 7 and it completes and reboots it takes me to system recovery but it is the system recovery for Windows vista. I've been trying different things like formatting the partition right before the install and making the partition that Windows 7 is going to go on "active" in the .cmd prompt. I keep going in circlesinstalling Windows 7, getting system recovery and eventually choosing to reformat from Gateway's manufacturer settings...although once I do this I can't actually get back into Windows Vista as that now seems to be messed up. (I don't have the original Vista installation cd). Then I try rebooting and installing from the Windows 7 cd again to try more techniques to get it to work...I'm at the point of possibly deleting the recovery partition because the Vista remnants seem to be on this partition and taking over once I install Windows 7.

I had a file recovery malware infection that i first cleaned with malwarebytes antimalware. Then i ran hitman pro and then it said it would delete a volume boot record and to restart pc.
When i restarted pc it wont boot up now. It says a disk read error has occured press ctrl alt del to restart. I cant even restart with ctrl alt del.
I tried to do a system restore but there are no restore points shown. That file recovery malware hid a lot of files i think and it seems like the main disk drive is now drive H.

I had previously had a issue with a virus/Trojan, I downloaded multiple aintvirus/malware removel Tools, to no avail. So I decided to do a full recovery, apon the recovery completion my system starts to reinstall windows. At that point after registry install the system gives error message that windows is unable to install to "thuis systems hardware"(besides buying a recovery CD or new OS. Have college work due end of week.
And now its saying hardisk failure and bios is not recognizing my HDD..

I have a brand new Windows 7 64bit build with a clean install from an Upgrade CD and noticed in BIOS that my 1st boot device must be "Windows Boot Manager" or it asks for the CD. I only have 1 storage device (SSD) in the system and when I look under Disk Management in windows, it shows a 100MB "EFI System Partition" in addition to the primary partition (which is labeled "Boot, Crash Dump, and Primary Partition" - so it seems to have the boot files on it).
My components are:
Intel i5 3570K
Gigabyte Z77-DS3H mainboard
16GB Crucial Ballistix
Intel 520 180GB SSD
LG BD optical drive
GTX 560ti
As I only have the one non-optical storage device I did not set any partition parameters at install. I Attempted to do a Startup Repair with the windows disc to maybe try and delete the EFI partition and got the "... System Recovery Options is incompatible with the version you are trying to repair" error. Not sure what that is. If Disk Management shows a healthy partition with "Boot" listed as being contained, why can I not select the SSD as boot device #1? I can boot perfectly fine with the Windows Boot Manager listed as boot device #1 and the SSD as #2, however it's not ideal.

I was running Windows 7 ultimate x64 on my system (specs below), and I usually let my computer go into hibernate as it does that automatically after some time of system inactivity. Usually it will boot back up with no problem but then last week I tried to boot it up, it crashed and said system error.. I can't remember everything it said as it was obviously coded; since then I haven't been able to bring up the same warning screens.
Instead what happened was I reinstalled windows 7 on the same drive, formatted and all, and after installation it would finalize my settings, etc. After which, it would do a final reboot and, after bios goes, the computer hangs on a command prompt type screen with just a flashing underscore. Asking my family members, they proposed it might be a hardware issue so I bought a new hard drive (Seagate Barracuda 1tb.. not sure if that matters) and tried installing windows on that drive; same exact problem.
I also tried different combinations of RAM with my board, including just one stick of RAM, tried taking out the video card, tried taking out the sound card, etc. No dice. So my dad took his drive from his computer, that has an install of VISTA x64, and I plugged it into my computer and it worked perfectly. Conversely, I plugged my drive with the Windows 7 install into his computer and it also worked perfectly. We tried playing around with a few settings in the BIOS, etc. but nothing gives.

So I've been collecting extra parts on the side for a while, and finally got around to throwing them all in a rig yesterday.[code] Now it boots fine and happy. I went to install windows from a dvd, the installer saw both hard drives but told me that "windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk" for both. Something about both of them saying that told me it wasn't something wrong with the hdds, especially because the 120gb one was fresh out of a antistatic bag that was sealed from the factory :. I went into bios to figure out why, and after looking around I found a utility called "Super Recovery". It basically allows you to manually put in a reserved system partition on the hard drive that windows usually automatically puts on your hard drive of like 100mb. I did that to the 120, and boom, windows allowed me to install onto it. Windows finished installed completely, and went to restart. My boot priority has always been Hard Drive -> then CD-ROM. The system trys to boot from the hard drive, then gets nothing and boots from the cd again. If I take the cd out, it sits there for a bit, then tells you that you need to insert a system disk. The 120gb hdd is pinned to master mode, and the 80gb is pinned for slave. They are plugged into their respective master and slave plugs on the IDE cable.

I've gotten to the point where I need to just reinstall windows completely on my Asus G74SX (too many problems, I want to start fresh.). I encounter an error 1029 with Asus's recovery disks that I made when I had windows working: it says it is recovering all the way to 100% then doesnt work. I am in the process of trying it again so I'll see if it actually managed to wipe my hard drive like it said it was doing, and maybe if it did actually work and reinstall windows.However, I'd like to be able to get into the recovery partition because I would prefer restoring it with Asus as they recommend me to. However, when I hit F9, their target to get there, it doesn't do anything and just reloads the boot screen, with the Asus logo on it. I don't have an actual Wndows recovery CD so that's not an option, and at this point since my hard drive has likely been wiped by these recovery DVDs, I don't think going into Ubuntu and fixing the MBR will do me much good anymore.It may be worth noting that before I last restarted, I marked the Windows partition as active because of a tutorial here, making it so that recovery partition isn't active anymore.

I have a H P Pavilion dv5 laptop that has windows 7.. I cannot access windows 7 or any of the recovery methods.. I've tried a system restore disk i burned from my wifes computer and it didn't work ... I cannot access anything except the systems configuration, boot options etc... Tried tapping the f8 key.. f11.. still no luck. At startup the HP logo comes on for a second then goes to a black screen with a flashing bar in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

I was having trouble migrating my OS to a new ssd and received the "Bootmgr is corrupt system can not boot" screen repeatedly after restoring from system image, kept happening so I just decided on a fresh install. Install went well and was fully functional (eg drivers and devices) yet when restarting after installing microsoft office, I got the "Bootmgr is corrupt system cannot boot" appeared and now cannot get the pc past this point no matter how many reboots.

I already have windows 7 Ulitmate x86 but 1 day I came up with an idea of giving a try on x64 one by dual booting.. So I downloaded it legally from microsoft and I did every procedures required for the install. Shrunk my C drive and installed the OS on the unallocated free space on the drive and it went on perfectly. But the problem is the System Reserved partition showed up on the x86 OS. every time i open My Computer i can see the system reserved partition.
I could accidentally do something wrong with the partition if it remains unhidden so I want to hide it. I was thinking of changing the drive letter but I afraid that's going to give me boot problem. In disk management the System Reserved is labelled Z and marked as active. I tried to set my other partition as active that day but the pc cannot boot at all not even the boot manager showed up. However I managed to fix it using my recovery disc to access the cmd and reactivate the Z drive using diskpart.

Every time I boot my computer, it come up loading files, the open the boot recovery mode. If I leave it, it says that it fix one error, then it restarts and does the same again. The error was that it the boot.ini was missing. So I booted it up with ubuntu, and created an empty boot.ini file, then booted the minitool partition wizard (Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.) and configured the boot.ini. But still no luck. It's booting into recovery mode because that is the first partition.

I want to have a Factory Reset of my computer. In order to launch a System Recovery, I need to create Restore Discs. When I launch the Recovery Disc Creation, it says:"This computer does not have a burning drive, which is required to make DVDs. Please contact HP Support for asistance."My computer did not come with a build in CD Drive. Even plugging in a USB CD Drive will not make creating the discs possible. So. I ask you. How can I reset my computer to Factory Condition?

I have a Dell XPS 17 laptop that has dual drives - c & d.The c drive crashed and was replaced by dell.We are now trying to do a system image recovery from the d drive.We are following How to do a System Image Recovery in Window7 from seven forums.com.url...After Selecting the System Image from the D Drive (STEP TWO, # 5 and 6), the computer prompts to create a repair disk.The only way to move forward is to create or not create the disk.In either case, it then has you restart the machine, takes you through the process again.. Step 5/6.Never gets to Step 7 to actually DO the System Recover.

My neighbor was having issues with their laptop and since I'm a bit more tech savvy I'm attempting to fix it for them. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L505d-S5983. Its about 3 years old. They had an issue with the laptop and now whenever it starts up windows it shows an error screen that gives error f3-f200-0002. Apparently this can happen to Toshiba laptops. Seems there is a corrupt Windows 7 file and I need to do a system restore. There are no system partitions to do a back up of. I burned a disc on another laptop of the Windows 7 System Recovery Environment and changed the boot drive to the disk drive in the BIOS. Now it loads the disc and loads up the Windows 7 System Recovery Environment. The problem now is it doesn't detect a Windows installation. It gives me an option to load a driver from c:WindowsSystem32 to detect the Windows installation, but I don't know which file has information about the Windows install.

my issue is with windows 7 giving me an error message on boot up. I started having a google redirect issue on my dell laptop the other day. I though I had taken care of it with malwarebites, but suddenly while I am surfing the net the screen goes completley black and I am faced with a blue screen of death. Can't start anything. Safe mode, system repair, and system restore either freeze or get the same blue screen of death.I finally end up using the Dell system local backup that is a preloaded recovery tool on their computers, and the two burned recovery discs I made with it when I first got the pc. Using this I restore the PC to its factory setting wiping out my old files and partitions. It works! and I go through setting up windows like the first time. It loads up and is working fine. I load on some anti spyware programs scan my computer, set up the internet, and start updating windows.Once I dowload my updates and restart my computer the computer will not boot windows. I get a error that goes something like this Windows failed to start. A Recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your langugae settings, and then click next
3. Click "repair your computer."

Basically my only option is to stick my recovery disk back in and repeat a factory fresh recovery and that gets my computer back working, but every time I turn it off I get the boot error. It is frustrating because I can get it to work fine otherwise. Right now I am just putting my laptop to sleep mode but I would like to be able to turn it it off without recovering windows each time!If you have any ideas that could help me that would be great. I am thinking there is some sort of lingering software/hardware incompatibility or the virus/malware altered something to make the boot up process change. I have a hp g62-231nr laptop and it broke before sent it out, got it fixed and everything was great. about four or five months go by and one night i was playing games on the laptop, the laptop died plugged it in and went to sleep. woke up in the morning to a black screen says media cable something something no bootable device please insert bootable disc and press any key. I downloaded the windows 7 system repair disc and popped it in it loads up says there is no operating system and load drivers cant find any drivers but there is a hard drive disk named Boot (x and two removable devices, the system repair disc in the dvd drive and removable device C. I cancel and press next and be brought into system recovery menu I click on startup repair or system repair. It tries to find problems than says cannot repair windows automatically I click details and this is in the white box.

I exit out and cannot do system restore memory test is 100% ok. BIOS system diagnoic says error code 03f0 Hard Drive Not Exist the main BIOS menu says the BIOS system is idle. Version for BIOS system F.17 i tried the recovery disks but it says that windows does not support the media on this device. I also have an .iso file of windows 7 home premium dvd but it doesn't do anything so im thinking its a bad .iso copy of windows somehow or I burned it wrong maybe? If there's any other information needed i will gladly post it just ask. also I cannot get to logon screen on startup. The hard drive makes the same soft spinning sound not beeping or anything. I need this computer for work its a business laptop. also i cannot access system recovery from F11 the words show up in bottom left corner on startup but even if you repeated hit f11 or hold it down it brings screen to black screen media cable failure check cable exiting pxe-rom..no operating system etc.

Replaced my HD and used my Win Image BU, but Win will not start. I get the Dell screen that says Windows is loading, but then it is a blank screen.I did a second restore with same outcome. I followed System Image Recovery exactly, but cannot get that last screen to restore files I have booted from USB and from the boot disc - same results.

I bought a new computer where Windows 7 is already pre-installed on partition C:. In addition I want now to install a second "test" Windows 7 system on new primary partition. And a logical "data" partition. At startup I want to choose later between the 2 Windows 7 systems which one I want to boot.
When I inspect now the current partition table (before changing it) it looks like:
1.) "Recovery" 10 GB Primary MBR NTFS
2.) "System Reserved" 100 MB Primary NTFS, Active, System
3.) "Local Volume" 30 GB Primary MBR NTFS Boot
4.) Unallocated
As you can I have a problem: If I create a new, 4 th primary, bootable partition with 30 GB into the "unallocated" space, then all maximum 4 primary partitions are filled. I cannot create a 5 th primary partition which contains the logical "data" partition. So I guess I must either destroy "Recovery" or "System Reserved" primary partition to have one more primary partition slot available.
Now what for are the "Recovery" and the "System reserved" partition? I don't know them from WinXP. Are they Windows 7 specific? Or are they "inventions" from the computer manufacturer (Sony)? Is "Recovery" absolutely necessary? Why is "System Reserved" active? From I WinXP I know only partitions as active which hold the OS and not some kind of "pre-boot-partitions"
