I made a new PC and powered it up, first I received an error 'CPU FAN ERROR' then I went into bios and deactivated fan control. From their onwards I have been encountering blue screen during starting windows. The copy of windows 7 is pirated.. just to mention.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a: Presario CQ62 notebook pc with a AMD Athlon(tm) II P320 Dual Core processor, and I can't get past the start up screen with the "starting windows" animation. It will show part of the animation then simply hang. I have a very bad battery but am keeping the computer plugged in. When I attempt a system recovery it says: "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart" I've tried this many times and I get the same message each time. Beyond that I have no idea what to try.

In Safe Mode, it loads everything seemingly, lastly avgidsha.sys, then sits on Please wait...I have narrowed it down to hot the HDD or memory. I've put another HDD with Windows 7 on it, getting the same results. The MemTest 86+ cd actually loads and runs, came up 100% with no errors. View 8 Replies View RelatedMy computer was working fine yesterday. I didn't shut it down, but hibernated it. And went to sleep before it was fully hibernated. When i woke up, it was still on and the desktop was black. I tried to restart, But the desktop is still black saying "no analog input". But the processor is still running with beep sound and lights on. I tried changing the cable, unplugging everything and pressing on the power button for few seconds but no use.

Regardless of what I choose, it goes to the "Starting Windows" screen, and shows the Win7 animation, then it shows a black screen with just a mouse cursor I can move around, but nothing after that. Normally it shows the Win7 login screen. Ctrl + Alt + Del does nothing.I've tried powering off the tower entirely and unplugging and then powering back on, but I always get the same Safe Mode prompt, and the same black screen.

I've read a lot of other forum posts that feature the same problem, BUT there is artifacting (bunch of colored dots) on the top of this screen that goes across the "Starting Windows" screen in a sort of horizontal line. Sometimes it just goes straight to the "Windows has failed to startup" screen. None of the System Recovery Options from the Startup Tool seem to help fix the problem, they've all been tried. Trying to boot in safe mode doesn't work either, as after it starts to load the files, the artifacting appears on the top again after about the third file and it freezes.
I have not made ANY major changes to anything on the system for over two months prior. Because of the artifacting seen, I imagine the video card is fried or malfunctioning. I called Asus and all they suggested to me so far was to reformat, because apparently they think its a driver issue, but I'd like to consider myself fairly tech savvy and believe that there has got to be a better solution that does not involve reformatting the hard drive, as I had a lot of important data that had been stored and not backed up the previous night before the unexpected freezing. The only things I seem to have access to is BIOS and the Startup Tool. I have a System Recovery Disc too, and am curious if there is a solution to this problem (I am not well versed in BIOS), and (assuming the video card is shot) if there would be a way I can access by data and possibly back it up before reformatting so I can persuade Asus support that my card is in fact shot so I can send it in for a replacement!
Upon start-up, two options are given: "Start Windows Normally" or "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)".If the Start Windows Normally option is chosen, then the starting windows screen comes up and stays. If I launch the startup repair option, then I still can not get the problem fixed.From the Startup Repair Screen however, I can launch command prompt and restore options,a restore is not really an option because I have not set up a restore point in a while.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 (l521x) that came with Windows 8. The system boots from the hard drive through UEFI by default, so I think the hard drive is already GPT. I am attempting to install Windows 7 from a UEFI bootable USB. The system goes through the 'copying files' phase and then goes to the Starting Windows screen. As the colored dots of the Windows logo are circling, the system freezes. Can someone help me fix this problem? The following are the steps I took in order to install Windows 7:
- Formatted a brand new 4GB USB drive to FAT32
- Downloaded Windows 7 ISO (I have a key)
- Extracted ISO files to USB
- Made adjustments so that USB is UEFI bootable (efi/boot/bootx64.efi)
- In BIOS, set SATA Operation to AHCI and disabled Secure Boot
- Select USB drive from UEFI boot menu
i created a partition and formatted it of 70gb to install windows 7 in it. Im obviously using the clean install method, everything goes fine. It expands the files, it installs them,copies them, etc. When my system is booting up, it shows me the screen of windows below saying "windows is starting up", the problem is that windows never starts up, i left it for a night, and it didnt start up, it just stayed there. Im trying to install windows 7 64bit, any help would be greatly appreciated.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I run the Windows 7 Home Premium OEM disc I get past "loading files" and then freeze on "starting windows". I see 4 little colored balls in the center of the screen (guessing the start of the MSFT logo) and then everything freezes.

I've done lots of research and tried:
1. Using a PS2 keyboard/mouse
2. Disabling USB in bios
3. Disabling just about everything else in bios
4. Tried w/ 2MB, 4MB and 6MB ram
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
a week ago my windows 7 ultimate crashed in the starting screen showing the dam blue screen and warning me that windows couldn't start. I went to the self repair tool.It tool like 4 hours to fix the issue. Then it said, that windows will start normally after that. What a lie. After the starting screen I got the black screen, just with the mouse. I tried everything I know, scanning the disk surface with other computer, I used the windows 7 installation CD. And that told me it couldn't find any issue starting windows. What can I try now? This happens evenwhen I boot normally or in any safe mode.

My system opened with a red screen and I havent been able to get passed that screen. I tried to reinstall my windows 7 install disk, but all it did was keep getting to the make user name and password screen and from there just started over with the loading files screen. It would never complete the install.

View 5 Replies View Relatedone day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
View 7 Replies View RelatedBlue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

When installing Windows 7 x32, I make it to the "Setup is starting..." screen and it does not continue. It is not the disk as I have used the same one to install it on my laptop. It is a huge improvement on vista, it is faster, better designed and its new features are very useful. Because of this success I know am trying to dual boot it onto my xp running desktop. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like it.
I have used the same technique that i did on my laptop to install it. I have burnt the iso file onto a disk and run that disk while the computer is running. Checked for online updates and done a clean install. The installation works fine and quite quickly until it comes to the first restart. It restarts and I select "windows setup" on the bios screen as apposed to "an earlier version of windows" which is my xp partition.
It then changes to the starting windows screen that happens just like on my laptop, except the windows logo never materializes and it stays as a black screen with the words "starting windows" on it. i have left the computer on overnight and no change. I have tried reinstalling several times with no luck, both using the same method as before and booting from the disk at startup. Although when I boot from the disk it just skips straight to the same frozen windows startup screen.
I have downloaded the windows 7 adviser software but the program cant seem to make its mind up. Sometimes it announces that my graphics card cant run windows 7 aero and sometimes its fine. I have checked the windows 7 specs and my graphics card appears to meet all the requirements, both dedicated memory and direct x 9 support.

I am using Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Inspiron 1520. Today, when I attempted to start the unit, I heard a rapid beeping that was uncontrollable until I clicked the Control Key. There are no error messages. I have done 2 cold boots and a memory diagnostic (which found no errors) with no positive results. It begins right when the screen indicates it is Starting Windows. Once I get past that, it seems to operate normally, but I am concerned there is a root problem that will surface with disastrous results at a later time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an MSI a6205 laptop, and have recently reformatted my computer to reset everything in it. My problem is this: Ever since I re-installed Windows 7 my computer has been starting up, getting to the little 'Starting Windows' animation, then the screen turns off completely, with no back light (the fans and LEDs still function perfectly). The way I have been getting it to work is by turning it on, waiting for the screen to turn off, then tapping the power button and putting it to sleep, after a few seconds I hit the power button again to awake it, and the screen turns on and functions perfectly.
I know this isn't a hardware issue, because I also have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on the machine, and it works perfectly. It's just Windows 7 that is giving me this problem.
When windows updates, it then reboots, and just hangs on the 'starting windows' screen. Only after it updates, works fine before. I've re-installed it many times, but get the same result. This never used to happen until i did this fresh installation today. Now it happens every time, just after it installs some standard updates, it wont boot up..

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter recently building a custom PC, I am doing a clean install of Windows 7 (64 bit) and all goes well through the installation process (loading, expanding files, etc) except when after the 2nd restart when it starts up for the first time. It freezes or hangs on the black “starting windows” screen (the one with the new colored windows logo).
I have tried installation a number of times, including with a bare bones configuration (2 Gb RAM, 1 HDD, 1 DVD Drive, GPU, and all other peripherals disconnected) and still the same thing happens. I have also tried the process using the VGA cable instead of the DVI.
I was able to successfully install XP after failing to install Win7, so I don't think my HDD is bad. I am also using a PS/2 Keyboard

All components were purchased new from Newegg. I also have some peripherals: 2 DVD drives, Multi card reader, extra USB, firewire ports, wireless LAN card (although I disconnected those for the initial install attempt).
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am really at a loss to figure this one out. Could it be something to do with my video card driver? (Do I need to install that in the BIOS?)--I can see everything fine on my monitor though.
I just finished building my first computer in 8-9 years or so. I was quite excited that my computer booted first time I turned it on but my excitement was soon overwhelmed with defeat. Let me start by linking my computers specs. [URL] I downloaded windows 7 from my schools msdn website I have the key and everything. I then burned it to a dvd. After booting from my dvd drive the loading bar continues and finishes. The 4 colorful balls float around then come together and my computer gets stuck.
Now It's very important to note that I was able to get past this screen after restarting my computer 4 times and I was successfully able to load continue on to installing windows only to get stuck in the same screen while booting from my ssd. Then I thought this issue could've been caused by using my SSD. So I unplugged it and repeated the same process using my seagate HD same thing happened. When I try starting it in safe mode the computer continues on to loading windows but I get prompted to restart it in normal mode so that the installation can continue.
