I have a different setup in that I have two Windows 7 Pro machines in a workgroup. One machine RDPs into the other. I need to block IE access on both PCs still allowing RDP access. I know I can rename the executable and I think there may be a way to block port 80 in the windows firewall but is there anything else that I can do?

I'm trying to install this game onto my computer. (I've got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit) Every time I click to run the .exe I either get that Windows cannot find the specified path, or that I don't have permission to run the program. I'm the administrator on my PC so I don't understand why I don't have access to run this program.

Is it possible to block an individual application's access to a specific folder? Let's say I have a folder called "Water" and and application called "Fire" Can I prevent "Fire" from reading "Water"? Meanwhile, any non-"Fire" application can continue reading "Water" without issue.
As per the FAQs my expertise is well above average, but I'm far from a systems admin. I'm a hobbyist C++ coder.

I'm using Comodo and whenever I select scvhost.exe [812] and block it, the scvhost.exe [1004] gets blocked as well.
Extremely annoying because, the PID 1004 is required for my DNS to function... websites won't work right without it unless I type the IP address. [812] looks like some sort of Microsuck phone-home BS... whois has it registered to them. I have updates disabled so they need to get off my stuff!

Basically all i want is to protect my content from getting copied to a USB FLASH Drive or through a ethernet cable to some other computer so all i want is to stop access to these places
I tried some of the things already -
1. Password protecting (does not work)
2. Disabling USB Flash Drive through BuduLock software (does not work)
SO all i want is a concrete and absolute solution, if there is one, to protect my data in my computer and stop it from being accessed by others through above stuffs i mentioned.

I tried accessing them through my Phone and another laptop on the same Home Wifi connection and it works just fine on them.I tried clearing my cache, flushing the DNS, installing Malwarebytes, running scans.I use Windows 7, Home Premium edition. I can use my internet just fine except for two specific web-sites (that I know of) that crash when I try to access them. those two websites are: what.cd and utorrent.com. when I type them into the search bar, I get this:This webpage is not available Google Chrome could not load the webpage because what.cd took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.I know it's not the website because other people I know can access them just fine.but there is an even stranger problem. When I do a google search in the URL bar, usually it works fine. but when I include the words "torrent" or "what" in the search, the browser crashes the same way. I can search for anything else and it works fine. But if one of those two words "torrent", or "what" is included, it crashes..

I moved recently and yesterday got internet installed at the new house, and now most sites and yahoo and aim are not connecting. I can get gmail, this site, sometimes craigslist, msn messenger, skype, and nothing else. No settings have been changed, the only thing new is the new internet. My roommate can access all sites just fine on HIS laptop, so its not a provider issue, its my laptop.

I recently upgraded to an i7-2600k and z68 asrock mobo. (i had a 955be an msi mobo). Anyway i reinstalled windows (just an overwrite not clean install). Then i could not load yahoo.com, microsoft.com and a host of other websites. I am in a pc gaming clan and need to be able to access my yahoo email and some of the sites that i currently cannot access. So i tried a clean install on same hard drive and still same problem. So i tried a clean install on a second hard drive, still same problem. I have also tried a ethernet card (thinking maybe the onboard ethernet was defective). I have updated all drivers. I have not updated the bios cause it is only 1 update off. and that update says it has nothign to really add. I have win 7 64 bit os.
I also have an old vista computer on the same router that has no problems accessing these sites, i changed the computers to the other ethernet cables just to make sure and the vista one has no problems on the cable my gaming comp is on and my gaming comp still cant access on the other cable. so its not a cable issue.I have flushed my dns, reset the modem and a bunch of other stuff that i googled ( i can load that at least, but cant connect to any microsoft help pages). So i use my other comp to look up microsoft help pages and tried the stuff listed there. Also i cannot load adobe flash player - think this might be part of the prob. I go to adobe and click flash player, and the comp downloads it into my downloads. Then i open it and it starts downloading but stops at 12% and says connection timeout. every time. if i let google toolbar install with it that installs just fine, that connection doesnt time out. Im getting really frustrated and the only thing i can think of is to call my isp or microsoft and see what they say.

My spouse's laptop has Windows 7 Professional and it contains a Citrix client VPN access to her work. For some reason, I do not have the details, Windows Updates clobbers the Citrix client, thereby she cannot access her work. Note that Windows performs these updates without asking the user if they want these updates to be performed. We have to uninstall the Windows Updates and reinstall the Citrix client to get her VPN working again. How can I setup her laptop to block (or at least ask the user) Windows from performing updates so that it does not affect her Citrix VPN access?

I recently upgraded my ISP service. Faster speed. Since that time however, I have been unable to load my everyday websites such as (url) and many others. I can load (url) and do a search. After spending a couple of days on this. I decided to do a complete new install of Windows 7 on a new hard drive to see if anything different by way of results happened. Using Explorer 8 which was on the installtion it didn't. I could go to those websites as previous, ie.' but if I tried to download for example (url)it timed out. This also happened attempting to get Explorer 9. I could also go to www.yahoo.com, do a search but as soon as I attempted to access my email that way instead of using my.yahoo.com, again it would fall over and timed out

I have two SATA hard disks on my Dell Precision 690. I had Windows XP (x64) pre-installed in first disk. Recently I installed Windows 7 in the other disk. The Windows 7 works well and I get options to log into either Windows at startup. But I curiously observe that I cannot VPN to my employer from that Windows 7 installation. Also, I installed LogMein and that too is blocked. I have installed VMWare on the Windows 7 and I could perfectly run VPN and LogMein from that VMWare installation. I have tried hundreds of advises and settings in the Services section to no avail. I even cleaned the Windows 7 install and started afresh; still cannot log to VPN

I'm looking to block a specific network both wired and wirelessly and wondering if there is a way to do this. I spend to much time on the internet when at home. I can now lock the computers so that during specific times I can't access the home network. HOWEVER I would like to configure one laptop computer so that it can't hook up to the home network at all. Not being able to connect with the network either hard wire or wirelessly. I want to be able to take that computer to other locations though and be able to hook up wirelessly to them. So in other words I couldn't connect to the home network but can connect to other networks.

in windows vista I could block startup programs i didn't want using up system resources, but with windows 7 I cant find a way of doing that, I understand its always a good idea to have normal startup mode instead of selective in misconfiguration. but in vista I could simply block programs in component services but the ones I want to block are not even listed in windows 7! is this the wrong place to look or is blocking startup programs not an option in windows 7?
