I'm looking to block a specific network both wired and wirelessly and wondering if there is a way to do this. I spend to much time on the internet when at home. I can now lock the computers so that during specific times I can't access the home network. HOWEVER I would like to configure one laptop computer so that it can't hook up to the home network at all. Not being able to connect with the network either hard wire or wirelessly. I want to be able to take that computer to other locations though and be able to hook up wirelessly to them. So in other words I couldn't connect to the home network but can connect to other networks.

I'm using Comodo and whenever I select scvhost.exe [812] and block it, the scvhost.exe [1004] gets blocked as well.
Extremely annoying because, the PID 1004 is required for my DNS to function... websites won't work right without it unless I type the IP address. [812] looks like some sort of Microsuck phone-home BS... whois has it registered to them. I have updates disabled so they need to get off my stuff!

i got small problem in training center because some student is using the internet even if i teach yahoo is there a program or in router config to block the internet "especially facebook" example if the time 9-11am is only yahoo messenger lesson they cant access the explorer or firefox? did you get my point? should it be done computer by computer or just the router... when i teach the hardware i just turn off the router but if i teach the yahoo,skype,live... i want to disable the firefox and explorer
this one work in per computer but its time consuming for 30 computer each Quote: Open Windows Firewall with Advanced Security Click Outbound Rules (on the left side) Click Make New Rule (on the right side) Make sure "Program" is selected and click Next In "This Program Path" go to your Firefox Folder and click Firefox.exe Block the Connection, then you'll have 3 choices I usually leave them all selected. Name it.

I have a home network that has been set up on a modem with internal router for ethernet ports and wifi. When computers connected to the modem via ethernet cables, they can easily discover each other through the 'network' icon. But when I connect my laptop to the network's wifi, only the desktop computer can see the laptop in 'network' and not the other way. The laptop can't see any computers. When I tried to connect/open the laptop through the computer, error code 0x80070035 network path not found came up.I tried pinging the computers (both with ip address and name), and heres what happened:-when I ping desktop to laptop, it didn't work-when I ping laptop to desktop, there was response. Then the desktop showed up on the laptop's 'network', and I can view/transfer shared files. desktop can also connect/open the laptop's shared files. Pinging from desktop to laptop also works.I've checked things like firewall, make computer discoverable in network, services. They all make no difference to the situation. Where unless if I ping the desktop from my laptop, the desktop won't show up and file sharing won't work.

On my new Lenovo V570, I've been having an issue where it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes to connect to my local network. It will show all the available networks in the list, and either if I wait, or if I try to click my automatic network and click "connect", it still takes a large chunk of time. This happens on all of my saved connections, as well as any public connections I try to access.I believe my wireless is run through Intel My Wi-fi, though for some reason the icon is no longer in my icon tray.

My wifi at work will recognize the wireless network and says it's connected. Yet there is no internet. So I use the Ethernet cable and internet works. My wifi connects immediately on my home wifi router with no issues. I had wireless working flawlessly last week, but all this week it won't connect.

I have a Desktop PC and a netbook. They are in the same room and so is my router. My router is a 2Wire from AT&T. All these devices support wireless G. My file transfer speeds from my desktop to laptop is going at a dismal rate of around 800KB/s. I am connected to my router at 54Mbps with my WiFi cards on both the systems. I am trying to figure out where this bottleneck is and try and speed this up.
-I am in an apartment building. There is least interference on channel 11 so I have set my router to use channel 11.
-The router is set to work at either B or G but I know I'm definitely connected by G on both the computers since I'm connected at 54Mbps.
-I have full WiFi signal on both computers and there is hardly any interference in my apartment that I am aware of. My internet bandwith is perfectly fine.
-Transfer rates between these two computers through a LAN connection is blazing fast. Its connected at 1Gbps and transfer rates are around 100MB/s
-If I connect the desktop and netbook in the Ad Hoc mode, I get a pretty steady 2MB/s
-In the registry, I have set the NetworkThrottlingIndex to FFFFFFFF hex (so throttling is essentially turned off) but that makes no difference.

For some reason my laptop will not remain connected to my wifi. The other computers on the network are running just fine. The laptop in question is one I recently received from a friend who had no problems like this. I have been browsing various forums for quite some time, and have been unable to fix the problem. Running Windows 7 on an ASUS machine, the router is a Linksys RangePlus.

i just got a new router, my brother helped me set it up this router creates 2 wifi network, one named A, the other one named B.A is faster than B (i don't know why) on my ipad or phone or any mobile devices, i see both networks but on my windows 7 PC, i only see B (the slower one)so where is A? i need this faster one, why does it show up on mobile devices but not on my Windows 7 PC?when he set up the router, he said to me that the website (routerlogin.net - where you can set up your router, put password, etc) says "A is available for Mac and B is available for Windows PC". is this the reason?but what about mobile devices, they can connect to both networks?

i use the standard win7 wi-fi connection manager. when i launch the system, the wi-fi card gets connected to the router and i can browse the internet. however, the icon of the manager shows the signal strength bars with a blue circle (the circle that indicates loading sth everywhere else in windows) which usually tells me that it is still connecting to the network. the circle doesn't spin, it's just stuck. clicking on the icon doesn't bring up the available network list, so it just doesn't respond.also, the system cannot play sounds. well, it surely cannot play sound from the internet, like grooveshark or Internet. music on grooveshark doesn't even start, Internet videos go silent. actually i haven't tested if it cannot play sth e.g. from itunes, but one time when i wanted to restart the computer short after startup, it showed that explorer is not responding, with the task "playing the log out tune" currently being performed, so maybe the same thing with "offline" sounds...then, after some time (usually it's 10-20 minutes after the i turn on the computer) a notification window is shown telling me that a program needs my action and when i accept it, the message appears about c:windowssystem32spoolsv.exe experiencing a runtime error and requesting the runtime to terminate it, or sth like this - so just the standard spoolsv.exe error message. and then... voila! the wi-fi icon shows just plain signal strtength bars and responds to my actions, and i can play sounds.the information that i use a lexmark x4975 wi-fi printer might be of some significance. i don't remember now exactly (and don't have any way to check it) but i'm nearly sure that the situation with the printer is quite similar - before the error i can't use it, and after - i can.

I've had a wifi network set up at my house for several months now, and no problems. If I couldn't connect. I always just unplugged the router for 10 seconds and was able to connect. Suddenly today, I can't connect to the internet, but my wifi network appears to be fine. It says I have excellent signal strength and that I'm connected but I can't connect to the internet. When I go to the program that came with the router and hit "repair".
It says that I am connected to the network, but that my internet connection is broken...??? I tried using another device to see if I could connect with internet, my ipod touch and it also said that I was connected to the wifi network...yet it could not connect with the internet. It never had a popup that said anything, it acted like it was trying to connect but just never did.

Seems to be popping up alot, so maybe some one has an idea. I recently woke up to find that my Acer Aspire 5250 notebook with an Atheros network card, which had the previous evening had wifi connection, no longer could get online. Further investigation showed that the notebook was/is connecting to the home network, although not recognizing it as such (just says unidentified network), can correctly communicate the WEP key, but is unable to get any internet connection. Specific error is that the machine has limited connectivity. Now, where this gets a little stranger is that it is the same with the ethernet connection - a physical connection to the router results in the same thing - a connection to the netowrk, but no internet connection.I first called Acer, who were useless, and wanted the machine mailed away for inspection at my cost - not bloody likely. They then said it must be the ISP and something to do with the netowrk configuration. I first tried a rollback to before the problem occurred - nothing. Called the ISP who said nope, not them, particualrly as it had been working, and I have another Aspire, an Asus O!Play Air and an Ipod touch on the wifi connection, as well as a wired connection for my desktop. They had me reset the router regardless, to no avail.
I then uninstalled the devices (LAN and wifi), and reinstalled them - no device errors in the manager, but also no change in the problem.

So I have wireless internet in my house through an xfinity cable/internet modem. While I was trying to set up my new printer on the wireless network, my wireless stopped working. My computer is showing it has a full signal from my wireless network, however it unable to connect. Also, if I connect my computer via ethernet cable the internet works without a problem. Also, my 3 other roommates can no longer connect to the wireless and nothing was done with their computers. I've tried unplugging the modem and plugging it back in after 30 seconds as recommended, but nothing changed.

My desktop computer loses connection regularly and I cannot locate as to why. I have many other devices throughout the house at various locations which maintain a connection fine. When the connection drops it still displays I am connected, but there is clearly no connectivity.
I've tried toggling between two devices, one an eternal PCI adapter and the other a USB adapter. I get interruptions on both, so my conclusion is there must be a setting causing this. The desktop has been moved to other locations just in case of interference, and I've tried channel swapping as well.

We have a number of different laptops running Windows 7 and all have the same issue. The very first time a laptop is connected to the company network via Ethernet or WiFi (lets assume we have connected by WiFi) you receive the prompt to choose a network location. After selecting "work" the laptop can connect to the domain and everything works as expected.
Now if the WiFi on the laptop is switched off and the user try's to use the Ethernet connection the Ethernet adapter reports a "Unidentified Network". The only way to get the Ethernet adapter to discover the domain is to disable the WiFi adapter completely which our users cannot do as they do not have Admin permissions on our systems.

I only have a dialup connection at my place, to which i connect through my windows 7 laptop. Now I have several devices at home which i need to connect to internet (like: iPhone, Wii, another laptop and desktop).
I have the usual 100mb/S wireless ethernet adapter in my laptop. So what I had in mind is if it is possible to create a wifi connection from my ethernet, and bridge (or sometihng like that) my ethernet to my dialup, so I can see my dialup connection as a wifi network in my iphone e.g.
The problem is that I have no idea how to do that, or if that is possible in Windows XP. I would really appreciate any help around this.

There's a program I use (Pocket Informant iPhone Outlook Sync) which requires that my PC and iPhone be on the same network in order to sync.
The problem is that it works only when using my home network. When I'm at home, from my PC I am able to successfully ping my iPhone, which is connected to my WiFi network. This works whether myh PC is also ethernet-connected or WiFi-connected.
When I travel, however, even though I successfully connect to the WiFi network on my iPhone and PC, I am unable to ping my iPhone.
I have tried disabling the Windows Firewall and I get the same result!
I can't believe that all these different WiFi networks I connect to (airport, hotel, work) that they all have a configuration issue, so I'm thinking that the reason for the discrepancy must be because of some setting/configuration on my PC/home network.
Is there anyhing else besides disabling the Windows Firewall that I can try?
